33 Best Restaurants in Toronto, From Québécois to Sushi | Condé Nast Traveler

"The most striking thing about Gusto 101 isn't the fact that it's located in a former auto body shop—it's that the space actually feels cozy and convivial. The restaurant delivers crowd pleasing Southern Italian classics, including a near-perfect rendition of cacio e pepe. Grilled entrees are also exceptional, especially the branzino, which is served with escarole, cannellini beans, and a lemony, garlicky salmoriglio sauce. Daily specials are also worth checking out; the Saturday Cumbria Cowboy steak for two and the Sunday lasagna (with fennel sausage ragu) have both achieved cult-classic status in the neighborhood. The wine list is heavy on Italian bottles, and the cocktail menu consists of Italian-inspired drinks such as the Cialda, a potent mix of bourbon, spiced pear, Frangelico, walnut syrup, and lemon." - Todd Plummer

The food here is amazing!! Everything I had just kept getting better and better as they came out. The homemade focaccia was perfect, the calamari was probably the best I've had in a while, the sweet potatoes were a dream and with that brown butter (yum!), the octopus was my absolute favorite!!! If you like a little spice, don't miss out on this. And the pasta was superb 👌🏽 I loved that lots of items were homemade. The house wine was very good and a dollar an oz made it even better lol I will be back to try more off that menu! If you're looking for a small cozy setting, this is it. Make a reservation because it gets pretty busy. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The bartenders kept us entertained with great conversations. Highly recommend Gusto 101!! I hear they are expanding too :)

Came here late at night after the Raptors game, just before closing, and the staff were kind enough to accommodate us. Service was okay, they got everything done, but it didn’t feel particularly attentive. The food, however, was great. The meatballs were honestly some of the best I’ve had, and the lasagna was really solid as well. I tried the mushroom pasta since the staff mentioned it was one of their best dishes, but it didn’t quite hit the mark for me. The location is super convenient, right in a busy spot in downtown Toronto near the Entertainment District. Overall, good experience and I’ll definitely be back for those meatballs.

I absolutely love Gusto 101! The food is always fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Every dish I’ve tried has been delicious — especially the pasta and their signature tiramisu. The restaurant has such a warm and lively atmosphere, and the service is always excellent. The staff are friendly, attentive, and make you feel truly welcome. I also love the modern design and cozy vibe, whether you sit inside or on the patio. It’s the perfect spot for both casual dinners and special occasions. Overall, Gusto 101 is one of the best restaurants in Toronto, and I can’t wait to come back again!

Foo was delicious, great sport for lunch/dinner, we stopped by early afternoon and they weren’t too busy. Service was excellent and they were kind enough to explain any dietary restrictions (vegetarian/pescatarian) for each dish. We ordered 1 app: Calamari Fritti, 2 pasta: Mafalde ai funghi and calamarata con gamberi, and 1 tiramisu for dessert plus the bread for the table - all to share between two people and we were pretty full. Highly recommend the mafalde and tiramisu.

We were glad to be seated quickly on a Saturday night with no reservations. We started with the house-made focaccia. The outside had a nice crisp and saltiness to it and the inside was fluffy. The Mafalde ai Funghi was phenomenal. Amazingly rich, earthy, and savory. The pasta had the perfect texture. We just wish there was more of it! The Cavatelli alla Vodka was velvety and flavorful, but not overpowering or heavy. The pasta was al dente. The pasta dishes were great, but we'd appreciate it even more if they came out a little hotter! We found them warm while other customers appeared to have steam coming from theirs. The Margherita pizza was okay. Nothing about it stood out or screamed extraordinary. However, the Funghi pizza was amazing. The variety of mushrooms worked together well with the cheeses, and the sweetness of the caramelized onions help balance it all out. Riley served us and he was great!

Google
Great restaurant with excellent service and the best bread I've ever been served. The focaccia bread was INCREDIBLE!!! Genuinely would go back just for the bread alone. Our server was amazing and so attentive and the atmosphere is really great. The drinks and portion of the risotto were pretty small for the price and the pizza and Brussels sprouts were okay.. but the tiramisu and coffee was a great way to end the meal. Had a great time, while I expected to be a little more wowed by the mains, the bread and tiramisu were the real highlights and definitely would recommend trying this spot if you're looking for a nice dinner.

Google
Their Signature Mafalde Pasta which is a curly Pasta, cooked with Mixed Mushrooms in a creamy Truffle Sauce, we thought the Pasta was slightly underdone, making it a tad doughy, but the flavours were on point! Branzino was BOMB, it had boneless, Grilled Fish Fillet served with Lemon Anchovy Olive Oil tossed Roasted Romaine Lettuce, the Fish Skin was extremely crispy and smoky, paired with the Lettuce, so GOOD!! Carpaccio had thinly sliced Beef cured and layered with Percorino, Pickled Mushroom, and Cured Egg, simply delish!

My 1st visit after almost 8 yrs away from Toronto and it has been terrific. Food and service are as good if not better. I caught up with my university friends and we have a ball chatting and eating up a storm. We ordered the Nero salad (such a wonderful tasty surprise), the burger (my meat lover friend ate it all without even uttering a word), the ragu pasta is full of umami, spicy sausage/broccoli leaves is such a comfort embrace and the star of the night is the tiramisu. The picture tells a 1,000 words. Oh yea gotta mention one of their cocktails with vodka and cucumber is not only refreshing and light though does pack a punch

Yelp
When I come back to Toronto. I am DEFINITELY gonna go back here for the mushroom truffle pasta. It's heavenly. We were seated outside and the night was breezy. Felt perfect. The bathroom was a trip on its own haha

Yelp
Just finished dinner here with the hubs. It was pretty crowded and loud inside so we chose to sit outside. Thank goodness for the heaters because this SoCal girl was freezing. We ordered a cavolo nero (kale salad), mafalde ai funghi (mushroom pasta) and pepperoni pizza. Even though I'm personally not a big fan of kale, the salad was surprisingly tasty. It was not bitter at all! But the show stopper had to be the mushroom pasta. I have never had such a unique looking pasta. The sauce was so good and the pasta was cooked to perfection. The pizza was also delicious. Who knew adding a bit of honey to a pizza would make me like it even more. Service was excellent. A bug flew into our glass of wine and they gave us a new glass that was FULL even though we already drank half! However, the order the dishes came out was a little strange. I expected the salad to come out first and then either the pasta or pizza, but the pasta actually came out first followed by the salad and pizza. Also, the pizza came out surprisingly fast. Overall a very delicious Italian restaurant. A must go to if you're ever in the area.

Yelp
We had an amazing dinner at Gusto 101! The restaurant's environment is modern and lively. Since it was crowded inside, we chose to sit outside, and luckily they had heating so the temperature was just right. We ordered a salad, pizza, and pasta. The pasta was truly unique - I've never tried this style before and it was absolutely delicious. The pizza was also special because they added a touch of honey, which completely transformed the flavor in a surprising way. The salad was fresh and flavorful, rounding out the meal perfectly. Including a glass of red wine, the total for two people was only about $70 USD (with tip included) - very reasonable for the quality. Definitely a must-visit when in Toronto, and I'll be coming back for sure.

Yelp
A solid Italian restaurant that has stayed consistent over the years. I find it pricier compared to other establishments, but it is in prime location downtown, so makes sense. Love their rooftop patio in the summer and will be back for happy hour/prix fixe dinner soon!

Yelp
This was my first experience at the famous Gusto 101 My sister and I was at an event down the street and decided to stop by here around 5pm for an early dinner. Since it was such a nice day, we decided to sit on the Patio and it was great! The tables themselves were a little close together for my liking, but sometimes that's how Toronto Patios are. We started with the Arancini which was nice, but not as warm as I would hope. Then we decided to share one pasta dish & one pizza; we got the Pepperoni Pizza & the Mafalde ai Funghi pasta. The Pizza was great! but the pasta was such a small portion, I really wish they gave a bit more especially for the price. The service was good! especially for a busy Sunday evening. Overall it was aa pretty good experience, but I'm not sure I would be back. I have been to one of their sister restaurants, which I liked a lot better, so coming back here is still a possibility.

Yelp
Gord and I had supper last evening at Gusto 101. It's a former auto garage and keeps up that theme. Our friend and neighbour, Dawn, had given us a gift certificate for Christmas and we finally used it this evening. We ate on the street level patio. It was a busy spot with lots to see! I had a pepperoni pizza with buckwheat honey (half came home for lunch tomorrow). Gord had Mafalde Ai Funghi (portobello, porcini, oyster mushrooms, truffle cream sauce). Both were delicious! Evan took good care of us.

Yelp
Our friend that grew up in Toronto recommended Gusto 101 to us. I'm glad she did, as we really enjoyed the experience. We sat on the upstairs patio, and there was a great vibe there. It was packed, even on a Tuesday night. We tried the famous mushroom pasta (actually 2 portions of it), and it lived up to the hype. The truffle flavor was terrific. The kale Caesar salad was also excellent. They don't have a kids menu, but they were able to make smaller versions and those were good also. Service was great also. I would definitely recommend getting a reservation.

Yelp
Their Winterlicious deal is a steal! The 3-course dinner was $45- when on a normal night, a sole main plate is like $38. Bravo! The stand-outs were the polpette and the branzino. Still thinking about these! The textures and flavours were excellent. The service was friendly (though it was so busy that she forgot our wines until midway through the meal). I would definitely check this place out again-- perhaps on a quieter night. Tip: if you like Gusto 101's cannoli, make sure to also try the ones from Moreso Me on King and Walnut-- you can get it freshly made in front of you and there are loads of flavours to choose from. Just a hot tip for my fellow cannoli lovers!

Yelp
I absolutely love the food here. They have plenty of vegetarian options and everything I had there was amazing! Every location has a different vibe so no two feel the same!

Yelp
I ordered the focaccia and burrata as appetizers before our dinner, and it was a fantastic start to the meal. The focaccia was crispy on the outside and soft inside, with a perfect hint of rosemary. The burrata was creamy and paired wonderfully with the fresh tomatoes and basil. Even though the focaccia and burrata are listed separately on the menu, the focaccia was definitely worth adding. For dinner, my party chose the famous Mafalde Ai Funghi and Casarecce Al Ragu. The mafalde is ideal for mushroom lovers and those who enjoy creamy pasta. The ragu in particular was my favorite; its rich flavor was unlike anything I've tasted before. The service was excellent! My water glass was always full, and our waitress ensured we were well taken care of. Since there weren't many people in the restaurant on a Thursday evening, it provided a nice, quiet atmosphere where we could enjoy our conversation.
google avatar

Yelp
While I'm sure this restaurant has a bunch of other yummy food, the only reason I come here is for their Mafalde Ai Funghi!!! It's bomb and so delicious. I absolutely love pasta and this is my favourite pasta of all time. I never found any other pasta that came close to this. The truffle and mushroom taste blends together so perfectly. I love how it's not an Alfredo base. The service is always great. The waiter we had was very kind and accommodating when we asked to get another table with a better look out view. Super nice and attentive. The restaurant is slightly more classy than your average Italian restaurant. Cute for pictures and the lighting is dim which makes it more intimate.

Yelp
When we travel we always use yelp to find the local mom & pop restaurants, and this place did not disappoint! Great service, the truffle pasta was amazing; and the margarita pizza was excellent. We're definitely recommend

Yelp
This is my second time at Gustos. I remember the food was super good (especially the mushroom pasta ). The first time I got lucky without making a reservation however this time I made sure to make a reservation. We were seating on the rooftop - a total different vibe from the darker, barside that I experienced the first time. The rooftop was bright, spacious, and that day it was raining so we were spoiled with the pleasant sound of rainwater hitting the glass roof. We got the mushroom pasta again. Both me and my friend agreed it was the best option. I actually got the burger because the people beside me were having it and it looked so good that my decision was quite instant. My friend got the pizza - not really my choice of toppings but pizza is pizza and it was a delicious pizza. For dessert I had to get the tiramisu again. Overall it was delicious. Would go again for that mushroom pasta.

Yelp
First time trying gusto 101! I've been to the gusto 501 a couple times and have always enjoyed my experience. I went on a weekday at around 2PM which was just in time for their happy hour menu! I got their mafalde ai funghi pasta which was on the happy hour menu. The pasta was good, as expected. Thick pasta noodles, cheesy, with mushrooms and truffle. The service was where I was quite disappointed. We felt like our server was quite rude, unpleasant, and just had a negative attitude. Beside that, the environment is lively, and they have a great patio!
google avatar

Samantha C.

Yelp
this is my 4th time here. today was for winterlicious. for appetizers, we got the beef carpaccio. delicious, fresh, and citrusy. it melted in my mouth slowly. for our mains, of course we got their famous mushroom pasta. al dente as usual, and the sauce was rich and creamy. my favourite in toronto. we ended up being really full, so we took the tiramisu home. pretty standard and delectable. environment was amazing. love the sunlight during lunch hours. service was fast and proactive. definitely will be back. great winterlicious deal!

Yelp
Gusto 101 remains one of my favourite recommendations for Italian food in Toronto. I've been going here for years, way before the pandemic. Their Mafalde al Funghi is hands down their best dish. Cooked to perfection and full of umami from the mushroom. I honestly almost always get that dish when I go, though this time around I tried their Cavatelli alla Calabrese which was tasty as well. This location has great vibes for catching up with friends. They have a really spacious roof top that is covered so you're protected from the elements. They also have a nice outdoor patio area. And if you can't get a seat at either of those, their indoor dining/bar area gives a nice cozy moody vibe. I also appreciate that the music is never too loud so you can have a good conversation with a friend. It can get very busy so I recommend getting reservations but on week nights I haven't had any trouble getting a seat walking in. The servers have always been wonderful. Honestly I only have good things to say. Gusto 101 remains one of my classic Toronto recommendations.

Yelp
I come here specifically for the truffle pasta (mafalde al funghi). They've truly perfected this dish. If you like truffles, then you'll definitely like this dish. Also love the ambiance of this place, it's industrial, rustic, and lively!
google avatar

Annie C.

Yelp
This place was so busy and popping when we went. The dim lighting and mirrors and candles were such a nice vibe. We ordered the mushroom risotto and mushroom pasta with bread, and we loved each dish sooo much. We thought two mushroom dishes would be too much, but honestly, the warmth and flavor of both were just soooo good. Service was friendly and quick to especially refill our water. I love loved this place.
google avatar

Janice R.

Yelp
Delicious Italian food in the city. I always go for the Margherita pizza, mafalde ai funghi and kale Caesar salad. It is a low lit restaurant adding to the ambiance and is very spacious with 2 floors and a patio out front. The service is pretty good but the star is definitely the food. It's always a classic that never disappoints in quality. Overall, a great spot in the city to get your Italian fix in.

Yelp
Was definitely pleasantly surprised by Gusto 101. The food was actually really good and the ambiance is good for a date / girls night. The prices are a bit high but that's expected for the King St area. Amongst a group of 8, we ordered 4 apps, 2 pizzas and 4 pastas to share. This was a reasonable amount. The portions weren't the biggest but we made up for that in quantity of dishes. If you have a big group, you'll probably want to order more than 1 of a dish if people want more than one bite. My favourite app was probably the carpaccio. The burrata would have been my favourite, but it was just so small for $25! The pizzas we ordered were the diavola and salsicce. They cut it into six pieces each, which was an odd choice as we had 8 people and the slices could have been thinned down more, so I only got to try the salsicce. Honestly did not love it - the diavola looked better. Obviously, we got the funghi pasta as well - 4 of them. Each one was shared by two people, but I probably could have eaten one to myself. The sauce is just to die for! The pasta texture is also super unique and worth the hype. For $26, it's a must try. Overall I did enjoy my experience and I'll probably be back for the funghi pasta again. I paid around $60 for dinner (including some wine) which is reasonable - would have liked the apps to be a bit more sizable but I was pleased with the taste overall.
google avatar

Kelsey B.

Yelp
Solid, kind of corporate feeling, everything needs salt! Lovely sized menu and options - all well plated. I feel like in 2014 this would've been the coolest spot in the world, but it's just consistent and non offensive. Better than terroni. Service is friendly but unnoteworthy. Overall I'd say go for a corporate lunch or dinner, or to catch up with someone for the ease of access.
google avatar

Kent J.

Yelp
Dining at Gusto 101 across two consecutive evenings proved both consistent and memorable. Sofia, our server on both occasions, impressed us by recalling not only our visit but our exact order, adding a personal touch to the experience. The dishes...from Burrata with grapes and Margherita pizza to Funghi pasta, Misticanza salad, Focaccia bread and Tiramisu desert were all excellently prepared.
google avatar

Xiaorui H.

Yelp
I think the advantage of this restaurant lies in its authentic dishes, while the downside is the pricing, which far exceeds the actual value of the ingredients. I ordered two dishes with unique names: "Human in Purgatory" and "Rhapsody." One was a traditional pasta dish, and the other resembled a casserole. The cheese and tomato sauce pairing was satisfying, and the pasta, except for a few drier pieces, was quite decent. The casserole contained soybeans and two unset eggs, mixed with a tomato-based broth. The taste was reminiscent of Moscow borscht. Can it be considered delicious? Let's settle on a middle ground. If you put the prices alongside the dishes, you'd be astonished at what you just ate. Is it the tomato sauce that makes it so expensive?
google avatar

Jeslyn X.

Yelp
Finally got the chance to visit this restaurant, and it was quite different from what I expected. The interior had more of a bustling dining hall vibe rather than the cozy, intimate atmosphere I had imagined. It leaned towards a rustic industrial style rather than the traditional Italian aesthetic. We tried their legendary Mafalde ai Funghi, which was overall creamy. While the Mafalde was slightly chewy, the combination of oyster mushrooms and truffle cream elevated the taste. The Diavola Pizza was great - authentic Italian pizza with generous toppings and amazing dough. Service was satisfactory. Despite the growing number of great Italian restaurants in Toronto, Gusto 101 manages to hold its ground with consistent quality and reputation. If you're seeking a taste of Italy in Toronto, can consider giving this place a try. Food (quality, creativity, consistency) - 4/5 Drinks (quality, variety) - NA/5 Ambience (interior design, cleanliness) - 4/5 Service (courtesy, knowledge, timeliness) - 3.5/5 Value (quality vs. price) - 3.5/5 OVERALL - 3.75

Yelp
I reserved a table online as i knew it's Taylor weekend in Toronto. We got seated promptly. They told us we have 1.5 hr, although at the top of the 1.5 hr, there were empty spots and neither did they rush us to leave. The cocktails were ok. The one my husband ordered was too sweet and the one I ordered with egg whites wasn't so sweet, so we switched. Then he ordered house wine which was very good and great value for money - $1 per oz. The focaccia bread for appetizer was the best part of the meal. Amazing, crusty and hearty bread and it paired perfectly well with their hot oil. The famous truffle mushroom pasta was ok - it was too al dente for us. I like the pastas at Za better! The mushroom pizza was pretty good. Then we finished with tiramisu and it was good. Overall, we were served well and had a good time. I'll probably come back for the wine and the focaccia bread. The ambiance is really nice, old wearhouse style building with cozy lights.
google avatar

Rui M.

Yelp
This place had one of the best happy hour deals downtown. However, recently they changed the happy hour deal from everything on the menu being 50% off to now having a happy hour set menu and the prices are higher. Overall, the food here is really good and in the summer they have a really nice patio set up. The mushroom pasta seems like one of the top choices and lives up to the hype. Service is always very quick and friendly so if you're looking for a place for a nice Italian meal, I would recommend gusto.

Yelp
Came here on Tuesday evening and it was busy. Suggest making reservations. Food and service were great! Their signature pasta, Mafalde Ai Funghi, portobello, porcini, oyster mushrooms, truffle cream sauce was al dente which was ok. Grilled octopus was tender and flavourful. Not chewy. The margherita pizza was perfect with a crispy, light and airy crust. We also had the Polpette Di Carne, lamb meatballs, pomodoro, ricotta. The sauce was not too tangy with a great blend of spices. The focaccia was warm, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Everything was tasty! And they had espresso martini for my friend's guilty pleasure! Would go back.
google avatar

Grace M.

Yelp
Went here for a solo trip for lunch, and boy, it was a good meal. First up, their octopus was a hit appetizer. The fettuccine and calamari fritti could fill you right up. It was a fantastic dining experience. Welcoming is an understatement for that staff, and while the prices were a tad bit higher, even I didn't mind when sitting there soaking in the extravagant ambiance. I must remember to call my friends so that everyone can enjoy a good meal together.

Yelp
I wanted to try this place for a while for one reason that viral pasta. I ordered the malfade Al Funghi, I see everyone's instagram page with this pasta. The negative I would say you're charging 30 bucks for a small portion of pasta, but if it's good it's good. I waited less than 20 mins which isn't bad, and this place is ten times better than Sugo, it was packed and the pasta was aldente and the sauce was so good. It melts in your mouth, I want that recipe in that sauce that sauce is fire, their pizzas looked really good but it was over my budget for the day. The pasta was soft sauce was creamy, you just wanted to eat more of it and I think it lives up to the hype. I think one of the best pastas I had. I can see people come here maybe ona special occasion but that's crazy your charging 30 bucks for a pasta.

H A.

Yelp
Was at the Portland St location recently. Food was pretty good (7 out of 10). Unfortunately the service was pretty much nonexistent (2 out of 10).

Yelp
This places looked beautiful and had a nice date night vibe. Went on a Friday evening and I had to book the table. .. Their pizza's and pasta's are all a must try! Won't disappoint you. .. I had their burrata to start with which had a perfect flavor added to it. .... :) Gusto 101 .. ... ..... ..

Yelp
I've been to this location a few times and after every meal, I leave feeling.. meh? The location is really nice and there is a lot of seating on the patio and two floors inside. I find the food to be ok. There is something about the pasta here.. not sure if it's the sauce or the pasta itself, but I always get quite bloated after every visit. Not something that normally happens after I eat pasta or at other Italian restaurants. The starters are very good - we had the calamari and arancini. The pizza toppings were fresh but it was quite oily. I do like how gusto has wine on tap and you can choose how many ounces you'd like. Service was okay - started off strong to check in on us but we got there a little early for dinner and felt like we were kind of forgotten once it started getting busy. I'd come here for drinks and light snacks because the vibe is fun, but haven't been extremely wow'd otherwise.

Yelp
A friend who is a fan of Italian food dragged me to check in at an Italian restaurant. It seems to be the sister restaurant of Gusto501 that I never make an appointment with? 101 doesn't seem to be that difficult to make an appointment. If you can't make an appointment with 501, you can try this one. p2 DALIA Usually when I don't know what to drink, I will order Margarita! This is the first time I see a dragon fruit option haha. The waiter said it is their most popular signature dish, so I ordered it decisively. p3 The focaccia is quite fragrant~ It's just a bit big, which can make you full hahaha p4 The famous black truffle pasta Mafalde Ai Funghi p5 Their pizzas are all quite authentic. I feel that none of the flavors are bad. p6 The waiter recommended +1 It's really fragrant. It seems to be cheese and rice inside? It's very good for the first time. If you have to choose between it and the bread in p3, I still recommend this one
google avatar

Cat L.

Yelp
I came here solely for the mushroom pasta, and I would have to say that it is well worth the hype and the best in the city! Staff were attentive and helpful, especially given that it was a busy weekend night. The restaurant was extremely packed when we went, so it was a bit noisy/hard to hear people talking. Would definitely recommend making a reservation.

Fiammetta P.

Yelp
Delicious and cute spot! We tried the carpaccio, fries, Brussels sprouts and mafalde ai funghi and enjoyed it all. Our server was extra nice but the two hosts were absolutely the worse, acting quite entitled and snobby whereas all servers and other people working there were super nice.
google avatar

Elvis A.

Yelp
This spot is a delivery staple when I feel like having their mushroom pasta. Its quite good and of and a decent taste punch. Pizza was ok and don't expect top tier here. I have only had delivery from here but might visit for happy hour one of these days

Cara K.

Yelp
I've been to Gusta 101 probably over 40 times. I strongly believe every single one of their dashes are very good and well-made. The fungi pasta and fungi pizza are both my favorite fungi dishes I've had in Toronto. I can't find it like this anywhere else. The pizzas are very simple so if you're into that, it's perfect. My favorite is the margarita pizza. I recently went for brunch and their ricotta pancakes were amazing ! Very unique flavors. 1000/10 for gusto 101.
google avatar

Elwood T.

Yelp
Gusto 101 is one of Toronto's most well known Italian restaurants and for good reason. Attempting to visit this place on a weekend might be next to impossible but with OpenTable I was able to make a reservation on a Monday night. Make sure to book at least a few days prior to get the time you like. The layout of the restaurant is different than most as you walk into the place with an open kitchen and you can see everything going on. It was dim and cozy building the ambiance of a nice date night spot. As for the food, our table tried the arancini, calamari and mafalde ai funghi (aka mushroom truffle pasta). The arancini was delicious and reminded me of the Cheesecake Factory mac & cheese balls. The calamari I'd skip as it was mediocre and was nothing memorable. The star of the night (other than me) was the Mafalade ai Funghi. As a meat lover, I've never thought I'd rate a dish a 10/10 that had no proteins in it but man this dish changed my mind. It's definitely a must try and something you will crave and come back for. The service was pretty good but nothing to rave about, she was attentive and that's all we could've asked for. Only reason this place isn't a 5 star for me is the price. I know downtown Toronto and rent is expensive but I felt like everything was a little overpriced for what it was. Other than that's, Gusto 101 was a delightful experience. 4.5/5

Yelp
It was our last night in Toronto and we wanted to grab a quick pizza to go. So the wife found this place and I went to go and pick it up via a Uber drive. So when I first walked in, this place was PACKED! I'm sure you have to make reservations for this place for sure. The next time we are back in Toronto, we are making another stop here but to dine in. Now to the pizza, we had a margherita and a pepperoni and they were both great!

Yelp
Did Uber eats and service was quick and had in an hour. The pizza was amazing and 10/10 highly recommend. Very flavorful and enjoyed every bite. The pasta was ok didn't love but great amount of mushrooms and pasta shape was fun

Yelp
Great service and delicious food. The kids ate so much. The iberico pork ragu pasta was fresh and authentic tasting. The pizzas were a hit. The crispy brussel sprouts and green goddess salad were delicious. Our server (I think she's from Italy) was so very sweet and gave us great recommendations. We highly recommend this place!

Yelp
Their mushroom truffle pasta is worth going for. Service is fast and pleasant for how busy it was. Great place for a first date especially with the top floor with a glass ceiling.

Yelp
I had been wanting to try Gusto for a while and finally went for my anniversary dinner. I had made a reservation earlier in the week through OpenTable and wanted to make sure our table would still be available since we were running quite late. I was disappointed at the lack of communication by the restaurant staff as I tried calling multiple times but was unable to reach anyone. I messaged on OpenTable and did not get a response either. While being late is completely on me as the diner, it seems quite unprofessional that no one picked up the phone despite their own reservation policies. When we got there, the restaurant was already very busy on a Saturday night. The ambience was loud and lively, and the decor matched the vibes. We were given a table upstairs right at the doorway and quickly realized how terrible the table was. When our server put down our bottle of water, it started sliding off the table because it was just that slanted! We asked to be moved to a better table and was promptly guided to a table downstairs. Although the rest of the evening went perfectly fine, I wonder why the restaurant staff felt that this table seating was appropriate for any diner! In terms of the food, we ordered the Burrata, a salad, the Funghi pizza and cheesecake for dessert. The burrata was delicious and great starter! The flavours and texture of the dish went perfectly together, especially the candied walnuts which gave a nice hint of sweetness. The salad was also solid but nothing much to write home about. The Funghi pizza was loaded with mushrooms; the dough was thin and the crust was soft and chewy! Very much enjoyed it. We rounded off dinner with the cheesecake which tasted a lot like a Japanese cheesecake to me in both flavour and texture. It was light and cakey at the same time; the berry compote gave a nice tartness to complement the sweet. Overall, I enjoyed the food here, portion sizes were good for two people but service could have been better. The restaurant was quite busy and our server seemed to be flustered the whole night.

Yelp
Been here numerous times and nothing beats their Mafalde Ai Funghi. It is literally the best mushroom pasta I've had and I'd come back for it any day! Their Pepperoni Pizza is really good too, especially with the honey added. It gives you that perfect combo of sweet and savoury. Finally, the Cavolo Nero is really refreshing and I love it! This is a place I'll continue to come back even just for these three items and not trying anything else!

Yelp
Great Italian restaurant in the heart of Downtown Toronto. The interior decor is industrial and modern and but has a cozy cucina vibe at the same time. We came at a pre-dinner hour, so we were seated quickly and attended to very fast by the staff. Our server was really nice and happily recommended some favorites off the menu. We opted for the Cavolo Nero Salad and the Mafalde Al Funghi. The salad was simple and delicious: tangy and deliciously bitter (from the kale), and when paired with the indulgent pasta, it made for a perfect, balanced pairing. TIP: washrooms are downstairs.

Yelp
I came here as a party of 6 around 4 pm on a Tuesday. This spot was very busy and I assume it was because of their happy hour which was an amazing deal as most items are half off! We had a reservation made so getting a table was no trouble. We initially wanted to be seated on their rooftop patio but was disappointed to find out it didn't open until 5 pm. Because of this, we requested to sit inside due to the heat of the day. We ended up being seated just by the stairs to the washroom, which gave us the indoor vibes but was close to the entrance for some nice fresh air. The only complaint about our table was that my friend occasionally felt something drip on her (we also saw it!) and had told our waiter but he never addressed it which affected our overall dine-in experience. The service overall was good but did not wow us. They were timely about filling out water and attempts were made to make the experience more customized - for example, our server had asked the kitchen to cut our pizza in six since we were sharing, but the kitchen never did so. The fact that they automatically added 20% in gratuity for tables of 6 people and up was steep in my opinion for the service we received. Besides all this, the food was indeed delicious. I got the famous Mafalde Ai Funghi and it really did meet my expectations. It was creamy and flavorful with perfectly textured pasta noodles. The Diavola pizza was also yummy with a nice chewy crust and the sun-dried tomato pesto really hit it home for me. The calamari was good but nothing to rave about and I personally like a garlic aioli more than the lemon one it was served with. The presentation for food and drinks was really nice as well.

Yelp
I went here for happy hour (3-5pm) on weekdays. Wine was $3 and lager was $5, and pizza and pasta was 1/2 off (excluding the lasagna). I also got the Brussel sprouts for $7. There are several other small plate items that are discounted. Overall, service was great and food was decent. Of course, I tried the funghi pasta and it was delicious although a bit heavy. There is a mild truffle flavor to the pasta. Same goes for the Brussel sprouts and pepperoni pizza - a bit on the greasy side but to be expected and still taste great. The crust on the pizza was also a bit soggy. Wine and lager was surprisingly good - light and easy to drink. Overall, food was great with great value (during happy hour) although I'm not too sure if I'd pay regular prices here.

Yelp
This one was a little more upscale earthy, creamy truffle mushroom sauce with wide pappardelle noodles. Rich without being too much. Perfect for a date night. Lighting was warm and the playlist in the background was chill. Would totally order again.

Yelp
Love the food, service and vibe here. Everything tastes great and are prepared beautifully. My favourite dishes are the kale salad, mushroom, pasta, fresh, focaccia, and meatballs. The servers are fantastic as they're able to guide you through the menu. Be sure to make reservations as it can be rather difficult to get a table if you're just walking in...especially if you're a larger group.
