Julian Alps – pure alpine magic that steals your breath (May 2, 2025) One glance at those jagged limestone peaks rising straight from emerald valleys, snow still clinging to the highest ridges while spring explodes in wildflowers below, and you understand why Slovenia calls this its soul. Driving the hairpins toward Vršič Pass or just standing at Lake Jasna with Triglav watching over you feels like stepping into a postcard that somehow got even better in real life. The air smells of pine and freedom, the rivers run turquoise, and every turn reveals another “how is this place real?” view. We came for a day and left planning our next visit – the Julian Alps don’t just impress you, they quietly claim a piece of your heart forever.

Great scenery, pure pleasure. During the summer lots of tourist, cyclist so be careful. Slipery when wet. Otherwise fantastic for petrol lovers.

My wife and I were there a little over a year ago. Simply awe inspiring beauty to no end. Wish we were back there right now.

The Julian Alps (Slovene: Julijske Alpe, Italian: Alpi Giulie, Venetian: Alpe Jułie) are a mountain range of the Southern Limestone Alps that stretch from northeastern Italy to Slovenia, where they rise to 2,864 m at Mount Triglav, the highest peak in Slovenia and of the former Yugoslavia. They are named after Julius Caesar, who founded the municipium of Cividale del Friuli at the foot of the mountains. A large part of the Julian Alps is included in Triglav National Park. The second highest peak of the range, the 2,775 m high Jôf di Montasio, lies in Italy. The Julian Alps cover an estimated 4,400 km2 (of which 1,542 km2 lies in Italy). They are located between the Sava Valley and Canale Valley. They are divided into the Eastern and Western Julian Alps.

So, so beautiful, very peaceful and everyone was so nice❤️. So much to see and do. Can’t wait to go back.
