Very nice place to spend the day in nature!

This is a great place to visit with young or old people. Lots of hiking trails and different habitats to view wildlife. The building is light and airy with a big lecture hall and a delightful gift shop. We were lucky to see the lovely sage thrasher that has arrived in recent weeks, about 2000 miles from his home territory.

Quick walk in the woods just mins away from the Old Port. Enjoyable and calming.

Great place! Several trails lead to woods and sea. Nice building with a gift type book store. Items on display including things kind can touch. Various activities are held at different times.

Absolutely beautiful and TONS of birds to watch

A beautiful hidden treasure tucked away off Route 1. Woods, marshland, and meadows will delight any and all who enjoy being in nature. Friendly turkeys as well!

After I aborted my hike on nearby Mackworth Island State Park due to high, cold winds - I stumbled onto the Gilsland Farm Audubon Center. They have a nice visitors center - with a cool gift shop, meeting rooms, a trail system on the property, and more. #GilslandFarmAudubonCenter

Gorgeous. Seems like a well kept secret locally. I've been going for runs on the trail system during "after work" hours, at which time most trails would be packed, and I hardly see four or five other people.

The Gilsland Farm is a really good example of why I love Portland so much: with minimal effort, I can spend my morning enjoying a nature sanctuary comprised of woods and meadows, a salt marsh and a pond... and my evening dining at James Beard nominated restaurant in one of the best biggest little cities in the country. All within a couple miles of each other. We truly have the best of both worlds. For me, Maine Audubon's HQ in Falmouth is, as others have mentioned, a hidden gem in plain sight. It's right here. Riiiiiiiiiiiiight heeeeeeeeeeere in our backyard, and yet... it's never crowded, it's never noisy. Walking around the 2+ miles of (easy to navigate and accessible to all levels) trail network along the Presumpscot River estuary, it's hard to believe that Portland is adjacent - you can see the skyline from certain trails, but it feels like a solar system away. There's an orchard, there's fantastic bird watching, there's a flower and vegetable garden rich with a plethora of beautiful things, there's parking, and there's an abundance of community events like educational programs, day camps, mushroom/edible/foraging workshops, a winter carnival, earth day festivals, an apple day celebration, holiday bazaars, and on and on and on... I feel like maybe I'm either super early to the party (the helpful friend who assists in setting up the chips and dip) or fashionably late to the party (the friend who breathes a little more life back into a soirée) regarding Gilsland Farm. Either way, I'm just happy I got the invite!

I have been to the Maine Audubon many times and have always loved the walking paths as you really get a very woodsy feel with a spectacular ocean experience as well. The walk today was beautiful, bug less and loaded with curious chipmunk friends. So, if you are in the Portland- Falmouth area and have a bit of time, be sure to check out the Maine Audubon.

We enjoyed our afternoon exploring all the cute trails. We some some nice butterflies and birds. The shop was also very nice and purchased few nice things. Overall it's a nice place to go for a walk and birdwatching.

I have lived in Falmouth, ME for the last 1.5 years and I finally stopped the other day to see what the Audubon has to offer in Falmouth. I was pleasantly surprised for a number of items. There is a sculpture exhibit going on at the moment that is great! I like to walk the trails and discover something new around the corner. The day I stopped at Gilsland Audubon, was also really awesome due to a low lying fog that kept blowing in and out during my visit!! Definitely worth visiting during anytime of day for a quick visit with nature. There are plenty of turkey's and woodchucks all around!!!

I overheard someone refer to this place as a hidden gem in the Portland area. I had no idea it was there until I attended a wedding. It was beautiful and the views of the river with the changing leaves were stunning. I really look forward to going back soon and exploring the walking trails.
