Bar Romantica

Well designed interior especially the bar area. Came here with the girls for dinner and had a booth seat, super cozy and private. We had the mid week pizza and wine deal for $30 so was quite worth it considering each pizza is around $26. We had the salami, mushroom and pork pizza, all very delicious but I really liked the mushroom one most!! I usually never come up north but I definitely would go back again if I’m the area. Perfect location for a date night as well because there’s a gelato place just nearby that we had afterwards!!!

This review is long overdue as I dined there quite a few months ago so the photos of the dishes I had are probably not on the menu anymore. However, they were so tasty and I thoroughly enjoyed my visit there and wanted to highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a night out. The man working at the bar was so friendly and made us some very delicious cocktails, I wish i could remember his name to give a shoutout for his great service. The place had a great atmosphere and I can't wait to dine here again. And definitely have to save room for their desserts!

Great atmosphere, friendly staff and delicious pizza, pasta & drinks. Staff were super lovely too! I recommend the Zucchini Pizza! 10/10 subtle, doughy, delightful!

ORDERED: 🍞 Woodfired wholemeal pane di casa ($9.00) 🧀 Burrata, smoked extra virgin olive oil ($22.00) 🍝 Spaghetti alla chitarra, mussel, bottarga ($35.00) 🍝 Casarecce lamb ragu ($28.00) It was $52.55pp between two. REVIEW: 🌹 My partner introduced me to Bar Romantica for an early valentines celebration. We were expecting an intimate dining experience, shrouded by the dark lighting and delicious food. Unfortunately, being seated on a two person round table close to other diners rapidly destroys the illusion. A noticeable overly citrusy flavour for the spaghetti and a casarecce which was too al dente (read: undercooked), Bar Romantica wasn't remembered for the right reasons. 😢 It was also disappointing that they were out of a key ingredient featured in two of dishes - mushrooms 🍄 - on the day and we were only informed when we wanted the mushroom pasta dish. I noticed that other tables weren't informed about mushrooms being off the menu when they were provided their menu. 🤔 It felt just a little bit shady to me. We didn't stick around for dessert, but the dining in experience for a restaurant that is named for 'people who are in love' doesn't align with the casual level of service or food that doesn't seem to have strong quality control.

Dinner was great. Enjoyed every meal and the service was superb. The only thing I would have fault was the pasta on the Lamb Ragout. I feel it was way to al dente and needed to cook for another minute. The drinks and cocktails were great. I’ll definitely be coming back and hope we get to sit in one of the booths instead of the bar.

Better yet, go on a Wednesday night and enjoy their Wednesday special where you can get any pizza and a glass of red or white wine for $30, absolute steal. We shared the: ➖ Julia’s mushroom pizza (how could I not!) ➖ Pizza romantica (Margherita-esque) ➖ Salami pizza The pizza bases were thin as the should be and the crust was fluffy inside but crisp on the outside without being burnt. The mushroom pizza was the winner for me, which didn’t surprise me as I have been told it is the best pizza in Melbourne. I think the only pizza that rivals Bar Romantica’s is the pizza at Leonardo’s Pizza Palace. There is moody lighting and gorgeous booths here, as well as outdoor seating for warm summer evenings. The wine was also delicious. My only thing to pick at is that the service was a little cold. Overall 4.5 ⭐️ out of 5.

Bar Romantica is our go-to restaurant for all occasions. With its consistently delicious food (always order the woodfired bread + burrata and the dressed leaves!), team of delightful, professional staff and cozy romantic vibes, Bar Romantica is an ideal spot for cute dates, long overdue catch-ups with the gals or solo dinners with a good book. The martinis are fab (and $12 if you get in early enough) and the non-alc spritz will hit the spot if you don’t drink. For $58, I think the Chef’s Selection is one of the best and most generous set menus on Lygon St (plus I love not having to pick what to order) Love your freakin’ work, Bar Romantica - see you soon! ✨

A cozy date night spot located in Brunswick on the famous lygon street. The restaurant features red booths, walls adorned with bottles of wine and candlelit heart shaped tables, it definitely screams romance. We visited this spot on a quieter night as I had noticed other times when walking past that the restaurant was crazy busy. What we had: 🤍 Burrata & smoked evoo 🫶🏼 Woodfired Wholmeal Pane Di Casa 💥 Chickpea Panisse with salsa verde and lemon ❤️ Pumpkin tortellini with burnt butter sage 🍄 Mushroom, garlic, Parmesan and onion pizza 🤌🏼 Cabbage (side) We really enjoyed the burrata to start with and the pane di casa was beautiful- fluffy and charred to perfection with the right amount of salt! I probably wouldn’t order the panisse again as I found it quite underwhelming with not much flavour and it was not what I was expecting. Onto mains: the pumpkin tortellini was nice but a bit too Al dente for my liking, the serving size was quite small but the pumpkin flavour really shone through, which I find most restaurants struggle with. The base of the mushroom pizza was fluffy and crispy. It had a beautiful garlic flavour and fresh mushrooms all over it but it was missing that WOW factor. Our favourite dish of the night was the cabbage which had so much flavour with a delicious crunch from the almond pangrattato. Service was friendly and the vibe would be better on a weekend . Overall I’d rate @bar_romantica a 3/5. ❤️
