"Record Shopping at 12 Tónar 12 Tónar is one of Iceland 's longest-serving record stores and is also a local record label. Housed in a traditional wooden house in downtown Reykjavik, it's the best place to find all kinds of Icelandic music—from classical and pop to rock and underground rarities; you can even get locally produced, non-commercial one-offs. It's an elegant space with listening stations, and an espresso machine upstairs. They hold the occasional concert downstairs."

Such a calm and comfortable atmosphere. The selection of tea and coffee is fantastic. Great selection of vinyl, new and 2nd hand. Highly recommend visiting and taking a load off your feet.

12 stars for 12 Tónar! A fun and eclectic selection of local and global records with a great little bar and a patio out back. Went downstairs and ran into a local band who were promoting their new EP and they invited us to their show the next night!Shoutout to Inspector Spacetime—sorry for getting in the way of your video shoot.

Truly the best record store in Iceland! Super hip vibes with a nice cafe attached. The downstairs has a small but incredibly curated used section with incredible titles. Prices are very nice and fair for the area.

An amazing record store, with attached bar serving local craft brews. In addition, it's our home from home for off-venue music events and regular live music supporting local bands. We love it!

Cool spot. We showed up at 21:00 and there was a super fun bar scene going upstairs with a local DJ spinning a very fun eclectic music set. Beer was great and staff was friendly. Most the records were downstairs. It’s a pretty small selection but well curated. New vinyl is well organized. Used is a bit cluttered and a bit hard to navigate. Fair prices. No listening station I could find but there might be one up near the bar. Didn’t leave with any records as new repress vinyl isn’t my thing.

For all the music lovers out there, 12 Tónar has been a legendary institution for decades. Old-school record store for those who despise fast-food music and treasure trove which allows for a deep-dive into the delights of music from Iceland.

I'm from Seattle WA. We have some of the most amazing record stores. This place equals or rivals the best in Seattle. I walked in and the dj was playing sick tracks. The beer was good and the atmosphere was stellar. I'll remember this place

So happy this place still exists! Been here in 2007, back when CDs still were a thing and they cost twice as much as in my home country due to conversion rates. So I only picked up a few CDs back then (Jakobinarina, Teitur), but I still love this music today.
