On the Grid : Aqua Bus

"If/when you’ve had enough West End, a scenic, quick, and cheap way to go to other parts of the city is by boat. The Aqua Bus runs every 5 minutes and connects the West End to Granville Island, Yaletown, and Olympic Village. You can even take your bicycle aboard." - Amer Alkhatib

Cute little way to see the Vancouver waterfront from a different vantage point. Easy on and off. Note that the ships have a pretty low capacity and they all seem to be a bit different, but if you (and your stroller, etc.) aren't able to get on one, the next will be along in just a few minutes.

The Aquabus in Vancouver is a fun and convenient way to get around False Creek. The boats are colorful, clean, and well maintained, and the service is friendly and efficient. Is great for sightseeing and enjoying unique views of the city from the water.

A deeply upsetting experience that felt discriminatory toward my family while we were waiting for the Aquabus at David Lam Park on September 26, 2025, around 11:10 a.m. At the dock, it was just my family and a couple waiting. When the boat arrived, there were two staff members onboard — a young male staff member with dark hair, wearing a beanie or hat, glasses, and facial hair, and a young female staff member inside — along with one passenger. The male staff member opened the safety gate and greeted only the couple, asking where they were headed. He let the passenger off, radioed for another boat, and told the couple to wait for the next one. Then, without a single word to us, he simply took off — leaving us standing there, completely ignored. Even though we were standing closer, he didn’t even look in our direction. It felt deliberate, as if he was going out of his way to ignore us — treating us as if we were invisible. We had been looking forward to this part of our trip and were genuinely excited to use the Aquabus. Instead, we were left feeling disrespected, unwelcome, and deeply hurt. This was not just a disappointing experience — it felt discriminatory. I usually don’t write reviews, but this incident was so upsetting that I feel compelled to share it. It raises serious questions: is this an isolated case of one employee’s behavior, or does it point to a larger issue with staff training and company culture? How can an employee at a tourist attraction in such a kind and beautiful city behave this way? This should never happen. I sincerely hope Aquabus takes this matter seriously and ensures all visitors are treated with fairness, dignity, and respect.

I had a great experience with Aquabus Ferry. The ride was smooth, the views were beautiful, and the captain was really friendly and welcoming. It made the trip feel safe and enjoyable — I’d definitely take it again.

Great way to hop across the water. We took this station to Hornsby. It was $3 one way and took 5 mins. Staff is super nice. Aqua uses are clean. Easy to use and another fun way to travel in Vancouver

Review for False Creek Ferries & Aquabus – Vancouver I purchased a day pass with False Creek Ferries while visiting Vancouver and overall had a pleasant experience. The boats were comfortable and the staff was friendly and helpful throughout the day. However, toward the end of the day, it felt like we were a bit forgotten — we ended up waiting quite a while without any clear updates. Thankfully, a kind Aquabus staff member noticed and offered to take us back to our starting point, which we really appreciated. Both companies had friendly and professional crews, but Aquabus seemed to have more boats running, making transfers quicker and easier. That said, the False Creek boats were slightly more comfortable in terms of seating and ride. In the end, I appreciated the experience, but would recommend checking schedules and boat availability if you’re planning to rely on the ferry service later in the day.

One of the best ways to get an alternative view of the city and one of the easiest ways to get to Grandview market. The ferry runs approximately every 15 minutes and if it is a beautiful day out, this would be the only way you should travel..
