Reservation only — which is fair. What isn’t, however, is the way guests are treated by the owner, Kei. He was unnecessarily rude and dismissive. Despite being paying customers simply wanting a takeaway, we were almost turned away until another female staff member kindly allowed us to place an order.
According to Kei, if you don’t have a reservation, you’re not even allowed to take photos or move around the café. His attitude was unpleasant and unwelcoming, and to make matters worse, the matcha and other products are severely overpriced.
It’s evident this café targets tourists or visitors rather than locals — no local would pay this much for a standard matcha latte, nor would such behaviour be tolerated elsewhere. While the matcha itself was good, it certainly wasn’t worth ¥1,300.
Avoid this café. There are countless tea houses in Tokyo with similar aesthetics, better-quality matcha, and staff who actually respect their customers. Save your money and your time.
