The Noongars, the indigenous tribe of the southern region of WA, have their calendar seasons divided into 6, not four as in the western calendar.
The six seasons - Birak, Bunuru, Djeran, Makuru, Djilba and Kambarang
According to the Noongar peoples, we're currently in the season of;
Birak (December - January):
The hot, dry season, also known as the "season of the young," when controlled burns traditionally took place.
