"A Visit a Storybook Castle A short train or car ride from central Brussels will get you to the village of Gaasbeek, home of the beautiful Gaasbeek Castle (Kasteel Van Gaasbeek in Flemish). This 16th-century chateau looks like something out of your favourite fairy tale. But it's more than just a pretty face. The Flemish government has owned Gaasbeek since 1980 and, during the summer months, its extensive art and furniture collection is on display. There are regular special exhibitions and even concerts held on the castle grounds. The grounds and gardens are extensive and are a popular spot for family picnics on summer weekends. On Sundays, guided tours of the castle's medicinal garden are given by one of the gardeners."

The Gaasbeek Castle is a must, you approach it down a long avenue of trees the exterior is well maintained as is the interior. You can visit many rooms and even get lost there is so much to see. The detailed vaulted ceilings and the tapestries are superb. From the kitchen area with projections to the coin collection there are endless choices.

Gaasbeek Castle is definitely worth a visit. They recently finished a renovation that took almost three years, and it really shows. The castle looks great, both inside and out. They've done a good job of keeping a lot of the original items, so it feels very authentic and you get a real sense of the history. It's quite informative as you walk through. The castle garden is also a highlight. It's really beautiful and well-maintained, with different sections to explore. It's a nice place for a relaxed stroll. The wider castle grounds are good for hiking too. You can easily spend some time walking around and enjoying the scenery. Just a heads-up, while the castle and grounds are excellent for adults and older visitors, the interior with its historical artifacts might not be the most engaging for very young children. Teenagers and up would probably get more out of it. Overall, it's a very good experience if you're looking for a historical day out with impressive grounds. There are 2 free of charge parkings, You can buy a combo tickets for the castle and the castle garden. I personally find the garden - a garden, with flowers, fruit trees, nothing extra ordinary.

We visited this handsome castle on a very cloudy and rainy day and it did not take away an inch from its charm and warmth. It was surprisingly calm and there were only a handful of people present. I've seen many many castles but not like this one. On entrance, it pleasantly welcomes you and leaves you in awe. The castle itself was very clean and extremely well maintained. The staff were very friendly as well. The walk to and around the castle is an experience of itself and I recommend taking a tour around the pond. It was my first time, but I'm glad to say we will meet again very soon.

This is a beautiful castle set on impeccably maintained grounds. You should definitely take a few hours to go and do the castle tour and to see the ornamental gardens.

Lovely castle in picturesque surrounds. They have done a wonderful renovation bringing it all back to life. The museum gardens were very special. Staff very helpful. Maybe a few more snack choices in castle cafe.

Very beautiful castle. Nice and interesting blend of the older history of the castle as well as some of the more modern era. Some very interesting artifacts and art exhibited as well as some interesting reproductions. Though you can see a very large part of the castle, I wish you could visit the middle and right hand section. The upstairs floors and attic can use a bit of a fan/cool airflow and I wish there was some explanation to some of the pieces and artwork. But overall, highly recommended to visit, on foot or even by bike. Leave ample time to visit the grounds around the castle

Yelp
We had a great time visiting the castle and having a nice walk in the surroundings. I don't know if it's permanent but when we visited, there were really cool and entertaining "animations" in the castle. Some rooms were decorated based on themes from the former owners lives... there are also some things you can participate to and some "actors" make the whole thing alive. Very original, I loved it even if some stuff were not really my style. I had never have such an original visit. I recommend it.
