"Fisherman's Bastion Fisherman's Bastion was built between 1895 and 1902 on Buda's Castle Hill not to provide protection, but rather as a lookout point—and this fairy-tale castle site, with its seven spired towers representing the seven tribe of Magyar (Hungarians) that settled here in the 9th century, is all about providing stunning views of the city, the Danube, and best of all the ornate parliament building across the river. In medieval times, a guild of fishermen protected this area, giving the bastion its name, and its construction coincided with the restoration of the nearby church. You can just walk around and drink in the beauty, or pay a small fee for a walk up a tower spire, to further amplify the amazing view."

ok obviously you're going to go here because it's a big tourist place. however my biggest tip is to go at night, after sunset for sure. then you don't have to pay to actually go up on the walls & you get to see the city at night which is so sweet. there's way fewer people and it's great for pictures as well as getting that good travel feeling (yknow when you feel adventurous and independent and all that)

Very good views. Best spot to make pictures of the river and parliament. The second level is with tickets but is only optional. You can make very good pictures from the first level. Visit early because there are a lot of people after 09:30, even outside the active season.

Been here once and it’s always a busy place with vantage view of the city center and the parliament building. Would be a nice place at night maybe. Note that there are a lot of renovations ongoing near the Buda castle so did not go that far.

Must visit place. Very beautiful and instagrammable location, particularly on a sunny day. Excellent views. Lot of local food options and souvenir shops. It is quite crowded though as it is most popular spot in Budapest.

Fisherman’s Bastion is one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Budapest. The white stone towers and terraces look like something from a fairytale and offer incredible panoramic views over the Danube and the Parliament building. The architecture is stunning, and the atmosphere around the bastion is very peaceful, especially early in the morning or at sunset. It’s a perfect place to take photos and enjoy the view of the city. Definitely one of the must-visit spots when exploring Budapest.

The Fisherman’s Bastion is absolutely a must when you go to the Buda side of the city. The moment you walk up to it, it feels like stepping into a fairytale. It looks more like a castle from a storybook than a historic viewpoint, you get some of the best panoramic views of Pest , especially the Parliament building across the Danube. The perspective from the Bastion gives you a perfect postcard image of the city, with the river, bridges, and skyline all laid out in front of you. At sunrise and sunset, the light makes everything glow, and it’s honestly breathtaking. The seven towers represent the seven Magyar tribes that founded Hungary, adding historical meaning to its beauty. Walking through the terraces and balconies, you’ll find different angles and viewpoints, each one better than the last. It’s elegant, romantic, and incredibly photogenic. If you’re exploring Buda , especially if you are going to Matthias Church, you simply cannot skip it.

Beautiful piece of architecture, a must visit whilst in Budapest. We only went to see the outside and didn’t pay to go in. Some great views of the city too - however it was very foggy the day we went.

entirely free, maybe if you want to go inside it’s not free but the outside is, i’d recommend to come at night so you can firstly have a nice views and photos of the fisherman bastion, but you can also see the parliament building very well from there, you can also see all the city so i’d recommend getting here when it’s night time, we went at 7pm and we saw almost no one there.

One of the most impressive places I’ve been, the view of the Pest side is unmatched strong Harry Potter vibes, we went twice one on the night another during a snowy day and wow simply magnificent, the details and colors of the church roof, the walls the views and the small businesses around make this a must to stop in your trip to Budapest. Love that there is a paid part but if you don’t pay you can also get great pictures and videos
