Kapel di Alto Vista

We walked across the island to find this small church. The road was long hot and filled with cactus lizards packs of wild dogs and bus loads of tourists. The pathvto the chapel was lined with crosses and plaques depicting the Hail Mary prayer and scenes from the life of Christ. What would have been a quiet place at the end of a long journey was overrun with noise from the haggling souvenir shop outside. Roucus music and loud speakers calling tourists back to the busses made it impossible to find a quiet moment of reflection.

The church is in a secluded location at the top of hill and is in beautiful setting. There is also peace labyrinth here. However, I would recommend visiting here only when you are tired of everything in the island

Beautiful chapel on top of the hill. There’s a small vendor selling fresh coconut water—definitely worth trying. The area is surrounded by cactus plants, which make for great photos.

Beautiful. You can get married in this tiny catholic church. Has a tiny alter also where u can light a candle and stop in to say a prayer.

Such a lovey tiny chapel that we visited to lit a candle. The candle can be brought at the grocery. I find it interesting that this chapel was completed in 1952 and stands in the same location as the original chapel, which was built by Domingo Silvestre, the Venezuelan missionary from Santa Ana de Coro, Venezuela, in 1750.

The chapel was so peaceful and wrapped in warm, infused with history. Glad to have made the journey.

Kapel di Alto Vista is a cute little chapel with great views of the surrounding area.

Started at Alto Vista Chapel which was very beautiful. I highly recommend coming early in the morning around 6-8am to avoid the ATVs as there are tons that come here as one of their attraction stops. I started at Alto Vista and completed the hike here that was about two hours. The hike consisted of walking the coastline which was absolutely beautiful and so calming. Highly recommend bringing lots of water as it is very hot and not much shade.
