Small free museum with space for about 3 installations at a time. Upstairs had an interesting display on making latex garments and downstairs had textiles from around Oaxaca starting from approximately the 1940s that demonstrated different styles coming out of various communities

Really enjoyed this museum. It's a beautiful space, especially the courtyard with its stunning architectural details. The brickwork on the walls echoes the patterns found in traditional Oaxacan textiles, which was a thoughtful touch. That said, given Oaxaca’s deep roots in textile artistry, I was expecting a more expansive collection. Still worth the visit, but I left wishing there was more to explore

Google
Amazing free museum in Oaxaca. Good selection and some nice maps. A lot of potential in this museum. There is so much more to tell the audience (both in Spanish as in English). Also the shop could have some more information, great stuff, but more information will definitely sell more too. Will come back here for sure.

When we went there wasn't too many exhibits open:( Oaxaca is an amazing place for textile, left wanting to see more. It is free to enter

Small, quaint, but it gave me a real respect for textile work and weavers. Beautiful building. All courtesy of the Harp Helu family!

We were so fortunate to spend a week doing workshops in the Museum with a few different teachers; Natural dying and embroidery. The building is lovely, a historic architecture mixed with modern renovations. Free entrance to a great display of Indigenous textile crafts (small collection, only a few rooms) as well as a nice gift shop to purchase heirloom quality goods. Staff is all so friendly and welcoming! Good neighbourhood to walk around, lots of cute restaurants and other museums.

Free! Enjoyed ourselves even though it was small but interesting.

Google
This is a beautiful museum that features displays about the local culture and cultivation of fiber for the creation of textile. The key feature of the building is the architecture and the combination of modern construction. This is most evident in this interior courtyard where in modern glass and steel building is incorporated into a stone and break arch courtyard.

Yelp
We stopped by the Museo Textil de Oaxaca on our first day in Oaxaca. It's a small museum, but it's free to visit and worth a quick wander around during your visit. The architecture is really stunning, and it's a good introduction to the textile arts that are foundational to Oaxaca.

Yelp
Completely underrated museum that is small but has a huge amount of character. Not only it is also FREE, but there is also a very good gift shop with handmade crafts. These items are definitely more high end and intricately made than what you'll find in the markets or vendors by the zocolo. The bottom floor housed an interesting exhibit on the color indigo and how the color is extracted from different plants in various countries. Kudos and many thanks to the founders of this museum for valuing and sharing Oaxaca's traditional textiles. In viewing the exhibitions, workshops, films, presentations and browsing the library visitors are able to learn a lot is a short amount of time. We spent about 30 minutes here, but it was well worth it. OTHER: - there are restrooms downstairs and public space to hang out in - museum hosts many workshops and community classes - go next door to see the rest of building which is also an architectural gem (the Museo de Textil is part of the Centro Cultural San Pablo, which is on the same block)

Yelp
One of several interesting local museums that does not charge - but they do request visitors sign in. How long you stay depends upon your interest in textiles. It does not take long to just see all there is here - so come, if at all curious.

Yelp
The Museo Textile de Oaxaca is just a few blocks east of the zocalo. It's in a gorgeous old convent building with an open courtyard in the center. Although a small museum, the curators do an excellent job of presentation. (That is a skill overlooked in more prominent museums.)

Yelp
Nice but small museum. A bit separated (South) from other points of interest. No entry fee. A nice museum store as well. In retrospect, I would not have spent the time seeking this out. I happen to be here at a time when demonstrating teachers have taken over the nearby zocalo-it's filled with tents and is not such a nice place to visit right now.
