"This place is really dreamy. It’s right on the water, and it’s been owned by the same family since it opened in 1951. We have a family house in Hyères, but I love to stay at this hotel even if we have friends coming to visit."

We had such a relaxing stay at La Résidence du Provençal, this place is truly a slice of paradise. Apartment: Waking up to the ocean views and sounds every morning was beyond special and going to sleep hearing the relaxing sounds of the waves was *chefs kiss*. Our bed was also comfy and we were able to have as much or as little light in the room as we wanted. The apartment has everything you need, was clean and really made you feel like you were living like the locals. Pool: The walk down to the oceanfront pool was short and beautiful and the pool itself has the most incredible view and vibe. It literally looked like something from a post card. We spent a majority of our visit swimming in both the pool and ocean. Food: I would highly recommend going to both the Brasserie and Bar du Soleil for different meals and cocktails. Both places had such a relaxed and chic vibe with really good local food. But the benefit of the apartments was also that we could make our breakfast or light meals in our apartment (stove, fridge, cookware, plates and utensils were available) I can’t wait to go back, it was an easy and relaxing vacation that felt low key and no fuss. ❤️

Beautifully renovated historic hotel with an impressive interior and stunning views of the ocean. Their restaurants are great, the seaside pool is very nice. We were there with small kids and felt very welcome at this family run hotel.

A true gem! Great location, seawater pool with a history, very friendly and attentive service. Our room was renovated, spotlessly clean, with all the necessary amenities. The views are splendid, the staff at the reception desk professional and helpful. The restaurant serves a selection of fine food thoughtfully prepared and served. It is a tad expensive but worth every cent. All of the dishes that we ordered surpassed our expectations. I cannot really understand why some of the more recent reviews are so negative, this is rather undeserved in my opinion.

Do not go here! AC was not working good. Room was dirty and old. Better send postcards than using the WiFi (Will be faster). After complaining at the reception, she came to the room and I explained my issues. She told me that she will contact her manager directly and will come back directly. After 45 minutes we went to the reception ourselves. The manager was unfriendly and not interested in providing good costumer experience. We will check out after one night. 1 Star for the amazing view. Again: Do not go here!

If it were not for a couple of outstanding occasions I would have rated the hotel a 2 as well they could have been a 4. The hotel has an amazing view that cannot be beat. However rooms are small, no fan/AC, and located directly over the restaurant. The restaurant has the most amazing view of the penensula, islands, and water. However, the restaurant can only be enjoyed by those with a reservation, (even late night when you see open tables). Make your reservation prior to coming or risk sitting on the street or walking down the road. The food is amazing and cooked to perfection (À Point). We were able to get in on our last night and enjoyed the 6 course with wine pairing that included Tuna tartar, Lobster, foie gras, Filet, and dessert with unique wine pairs. Everything was cooked to perfection and service was sublime. Issues: The word "Not Possible" became a running joke as it was repeated by the staff. One night, after returning from dinner (from another restaurant), we asked to have a drink on the patio to enjoy the view and were told it was not possible. Several tables were open, but the waiter insisted we could not be seated. Since our room was directly above the patio I could see that no one was seated there for the rest of the night. While getting a drink from the outside bar and taking it up to the room was not horrible, this should not have been an issue. There were several other poor service examples like this, but in the same spirit the staff had moments of greatness too. The hotel will be going through some renovation soon, so it will be a great time for them to fix a few service related items too. General tip: if you don't have a car you are confined to a limited area on the Penensula. There are no taxies and it is a €30 into Hyeres. The bus is a good option to the Port were you can take a ferry to the islands.

DISAPPOINTING – TO AVOID What a disappointing experience … we initially booked 4 nights and we decided to leave after the 2nd night … Beside the exceptional setting of the location and the sea view, the hotel and its installations are in VERY POOR condition of maintenance and in dilapidation: - Rooms are VERY smelly, not clean, very aged - Bathroom disgusting (see pictures) - Lobby and communal very aged and falling apart - Communal toilets not cleaned daily (see picture) Parc down the hotel is beautiful however the installation belonging to the hotel and residence are just embarrassing: - Tennis court unusable (not maintained and slippery) - Swimming pool is dirty, VERY RUSTY (due to sea water) and has cracks everywhere - All surrounding installations are very very old and falling apart Restaurants: - Breakfast is average - We didn’t try lunch and dinner at La Rascasse it wasn’t inviting at all - In the parc: both the bar de la plage and the restaurant were closed … we haven’t been informed about this with our booking confirmation… therefore when you are down by the pool or in the parc, there were no food and beverages service … Customer service: - We were well received at our check in, and we appreciated this. - The first night we got a room on the -1 level which is just below the terrace of the restaurant. Therefore we couldn’t fall asleep because of noise from the operations of the restaurant and we got woke up very early due to the reopening … basically a terrible 1st night. Luckily the reception staff kindly changed our room for the 2nd night (a smaller, less nice view… but we didn’t have the choice). - Just before the 2nd night we informed reception staff about our intention to leave next day as the hotel is not up to the expectations…. - The manager in duty very much challenged our feedback …. But did offered us to “sell back” the remaining 2 nights in order to refund us. I didn’t also request an alternative compensation if the 2 nights were not sold. - Up to today we didn’t hear ANYTHING from the hotel, despite my request, being informed that they will reach out, and despite my email 2 days ago…. - PS: the manager did confirm that they are aware that the hotel needs renovations …. And argued that we paid our rate with a 20% discount for this reason. This is a very low class and shameful argument since this discounted rate was clearly a promotional offer due to the limited flexibility of that rate within the context of the current pandemic… In conclusion, this was a very disappointing experience, we would not recommend it to anyone despite its breath-taking setting, and the customer service left us so bitter that even when the renovations are completed, we will never come back or promote this place. The family running this “institution” should be ashamed. I will not be surprised to see a public answer of this feedback with the same arrogant tone and shameless attitude than for the previous negative feedback received …
