"This informal, busy little restaurant and wine bar near the river has outdoor seating that’s perfect for those balmy nights. Don’t be distracted by the risqué black-and-white pictures from the 1930s; focus on the hundreds of Italian vintages (many bottles line the wood-panelled walls) and traditional Roman fare, especially the house cacio e pepe prepared with tonnarelli pasta – there’s also a tasty version with truffles. Pair it with a well-balanced red wine from Lazio."

Our family has had great meals here two nights in a row. Whether you order off the daily board or menu, you'll get wonderful meals that warm your heart and make you feel at home. The staff are very friendly too! Take some time to talk to them about their extensive wine selection, you won't be disappointed.

Another Mom & Pop eatery that many locals attend. Daily specials on the board as those on menu will give something different than the regular restaurants. We tried something new and they were good. The server did asked us for 0, 5, 10, or 15% gratuity when paying the bill. There is no cover charges. Depending the locale, each one may treat cover charges and server gratuity differently in Italy. I wonder why is that.

Great atmosphere and fair prices. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes, and everything we tried was enjoyable. We didn’t taste the meat, but it looked amazing — definitely something worth coming back for!

I wish I could sit here every day. Recommended by a Roman friend and it was our favourite spot in town! Mostly locals. Sit outside drinking spritzes all afternoon and shift into delicious food at 19:00. The good was seriously amazing. The filet with green pepper sauce was tender and popping with flavour. The spritzes are perfect. And the staff so cool and genuinely friendly. Love it.

During our summer holiday in Rome, we were looking for an authentic and well-rounded experience and found exactly that at Giulio Passami l’Olio on Via Poli. A charming, cozy place with a classic Roman atmosphere where you feel comfortable right away. Carbonara as it should be Our waiter confidently recommended the best carbonara in Rome — and he was absolutely right. Creamy, beautifully balanced, and carried by the rich, slightly salty flavor of 18-month-aged Pecorino. Simply outstanding and exactly what you hope for in Rome. Service with heart and humor After the meal, the waiter came back to our table laughing: “Io non ho detto una bugia?” — a moment that stays with you. The service is friendly, attentive, and pleasantly confident. You can tell they truly enjoy what they do. Conclusion A clear recommendation for anyone visiting Rome who wants to enjoy classic Roman cuisine in a relaxed yet high-quality setting. Reservations are recommended, especially for outdoor seating. We will gladly return.

I absolutely loved it. Wanted a mozzarella and prosciutto fix after years of not having been in Italy, and they delivered. The outdoor area was full of Italians only, but I was welcomed most cordially and also sat outside. Everything was flawless, down to the coffee. Recommended!

Simply perfect. Recommended by my local Italian friends, and it truly lived up to the hype. I couldn’t be happier that my last carbonara in Rome was here, it was unforgettable. I managed to get a table without a reservation, which felt incredibly lucky. Highly recommend!
