On the Grid : Association for Visual Arts

"The Association for Visual Arts is housed in a physical space, but we like to call these fine humans the artistic fibre of the community. AVA works with the best and quirkiest galleries ‘round town to put art closer to the eyes of our busy city-goers. This year’s lineup includes a 48-hour film competition, and a gallery hop, which is closing fast on a dapper tenth anniversary." - Whiteboard

Fate would have me walk in thart door that day. Having just retired and now ready to focus on my maritime art. The programs and more importantly the staff have been amazing in making my drream come true. In addition, the art space and showings of Chatt. and local artists, the showings are very stunning. I can't say enough on this groups impact on my art life, which seeps into all aspects of my life, bringing joy.

As a member artist, I have found AVA to be very helpful in providing resources and services that have helped me do my work. From marketing and sales information, to continuing education events, to opportunities to show my work, they have been a REAL & tangible asset. I've also enjoyed the camaraderie of fellow members. Their director and current curator are also working artists and they understand the needs to meet. As someone who loves to view art, I'm crazy about their ongoing gallery shows and artist presentations. They put on the incredible Four Bridges Art Festival and the Between the Bridges show and sale in Chattanooga. GO TO THEIR WEBSITE and view their member showcase! Great-looking art in varied art styles from talented people. 🎨🖼️🖌️

AVA’s lovely. They’re a local nonprofit dedicated to their programs and expanding the Chattanooga arts community. The gallery staff are kind and knowledgable! (Shoutout to Mason, who was working last time we went by!) They are clearly passionate about the work and have fun insights to share about artists’ work and exhibit theming. The location is great- I stop by every few months when I’m walking on North Shore. I can add a photo update next time I’m there, but if you have even five/ ten minutes and you’re in the area, it’s worth checking out yourself. While they can get overlooked, as a lot of smaller galleries do, the artists here create wonderful work and the group exhibitions the Association for Visual Arts puts on are such a treat.

They always have great exhibits. The area where they are located is a prime area with other things to do.
