Visiting the Armenian Church of St. Gregory the Illuminator in Singapore is an absolute must. This beautiful historic church is not only a spiritual landmark but also a peaceful oasis in the heart of the city. A very quiet and serene place. The main hall was circular on the inside and there was a picture about the last supper in it. The garden has various interesting sculptures. One segment has interesting tombstones. The tombstone of the creator of Singapore national flower was there too. There was one sculpture to remember the persecution of Armenians by the ottoman empire. There was one building that served as a gallery but it was not opened. An appointment has to be made. I believe the gallery was supposed to be opened this year but it looked like some touch up work was still required. There was no one at the place but just an occasional visitor. I didn't even know where the admin staff was There were two Indian maintenance workers probably clearing some leaves. But I was curious what was their job scope as I could see litters of empty bottles at various parts of the compound. It was for this reason that I gave a rating of three. I think only Armenians might be interested in this place.

We had a wonderful time visiting the oldest Armenian church and the museum. This is already our second visit to this church during our vacation in Singapore, and it remains a truly beautiful and enriching experience. The Armenian Church of St. Gregory the Illuminator is the oldest Christian church in the country, built in 1835. Though no longer serving a large congregation, it stands as a heritage site, open to visitors and cultural activities.

I highly recommend a visit to Singapore's first church built in the early 1800's. Armenians have played an integral role in the development of Singapore from the Raffles Hotel to Armenian Street. A visit (by appointment) to the museum on the church grounds is also worth it to further understand the rich history of Armenians in Singapore.

A very beautiful and well maintained church, albeit small, especially when compared to other churches within the vicinity. As the oldest church in Singapore, it appears to be simple, humble yet rich in history. Too bad we didn't get the chance to visit inside the church as it was closed to the public for a private event.

Easily accessible by public transit, the church is an oasis of calm and tranquility in bustling Singapore. Worth a visit, whether to admire the historic architecture and tombstones/memorials, or just come in for prayer and a short respite from the hustle and bustle of life.

The Armenian Church of Saint Gregory the Illuminator, referred to locally as the Armenian Church, is the oldest Christian church in  located at Hill Street which was built in 1835. Nestled on the tranquil grounds of the Church is the Memorial Garden is a collection of unique tombstones marking the life of Armenians who made a significant contribution to Singapore. Early Armenian settlers were buried in the old Fort Canning cemetery. A site definitely worth visiting if you are visiting Singapore.
