Reservation at the store or by phone is strongly recommended. As if 11/12/2025, 1,300 JPY for nice gift boxing with 10 ea while 1,200 JPY for normal boxing. Tasted really good and a great souvenir for friends. Apparently very popular amongst locals too. Witnessed many Japanese holding a few tens of boxes in both hands.

Kuya's Monaka is mentioned in famous author, Soseki Natsume's book "I am a cat". This is pretty simple traditional wafer which is filled with bean jam since 1884. Because of its pure tastes, I was not sure if i like it. I am used to eating so many junk, so I felt a bit lack in it. It's nice design and respectful history though... :))

Worth the hype! The monakas are amazing; with a crisp outer shell and a delicious red bean filling. The aroma infused the room when opening the box! Found them the right amount of sweet as well. Great as a present; keep in mind their best before is within a week as all fresh baked sweets like that. To avoid disappointmnet make sure to call for a reservation.

Got lucky on a Thursday and was able to get a box in the afternoon. The sweetness was good but found that more of the outer part would have balanced it out a bit as the middle part was really sweet. Having tea with it really helped out 😁

One of long-established shop in Ginza. Monaka w/ red bean paste is so good. Better to reserve in advance before you visit the shop.
