I recently stayed for a second time at Hotel Azul and it is as amazing as I remember. Conveniently located, clean, and the terrace and courtyard restaurants truly can’t be beat. Staff is top tier, but especially Sara in the restaurant. Sara is a gem and truly makes you feel like you’re at home. I would come back again just to see them! Tempura fish tacos and limonada were my favorite from the lunch menu, and the included breakfast is fantastic—they will accommodate many preferences and remember you and your preferences if you’re staying more than one night. Housekeeping is 5 Star, laundry service is quick and efficient, amenities in the room are great if you don’t mind typical hotel fare—they are plentiful! Beds are comfortable and rooms are simply decorated and clean, and evening chocolate and turndown service is a highlight. Only thing worth noting: all rooms open to the courtyard, most don’t have typical windows, and the morning birds make themselves known very early. Also, internet in the rooms especially and in Oaxaca in general is tough so saving maps for offline use, downloading entertainment on your devices, and using WhatsApp are vital for your stay in Oaxaca if you are traveling from outside the country. Overall a fantastic stay and I would recommend for anyone staying in Oaxaca.

We stayed at Hotel Azul for nine nights and absolutely loved it. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful from start to finish. The hotel itself is beautiful—tastefully designed with a peaceful courtyard and charming details throughout.||The location is just about perfect. It’s a quick five-minute walk to the Zócalo, so everything is easily accessible, but it’s also tucked away on a quieter street. Even during Guelaguetza, we had no trouble getting a good night’s sleep.||The included breakfast was very good—fresh, well-prepared, and a nice option to have. That said, we didn’t take advantage of it as often as we could have, mostly because we were eager to explore the incredible food scene in Oaxaca.||All in all, Hotel Azul was the perfect base camp for exploring one of the most interesting and vibrant cities I’ve ever visited. We’d absolutely stay here again.

A simple but extraordinary proposal. What truly stood out was that, traveling with children, this was the only place where we found healthy and delicious options for them, while we were able to explore a wide range of authentic Oaxacan dishes. We ended up going twice for dinner and once for lunch, because it became our safe and winning choice. Every plate was carefully prepared, but what impressed us the most was the outstanding service. Congratulations to the team, places like this are what make traveling to Mexico such a remarkable experience.

Suite Dubon was so loud - rooms could use better sound-proofing or staff should not be allowed to start cleaning or construction so early or so long into the evening. And guests should not be allowed to do photo shoots in front of guest rooms at all hours of the morning. So inconsiderate. I loved how comfortable my bed was in Suite Dubon, and how stylish the interior design, but the bed was so difficult to get in and out of. Needs a redesign for sure!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Hotel Azul! From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly helpful, kind, and welcoming, going above and beyond to ensure we had a comfortable experience. The location was perfect: everything we needed was within walking distance, which made exploring the area so easy. We also loved that breakfast was included, which was a great convenience and the perfect way to start our day before heading out on our tours. A special shoutout to Laura, who was incredibly attentive and always responsive to our needs. She made us feel right at home. And let’s not forget Javi and Angel, our dynamic duo of a driver and tour guide. They were energetic, passionate, and full of local knowledge. They pushed us to explore beyond the usual tourist spots, giving us a true Oaxaca experience that we’ll never forget. I highly recommend Hotel Azul for anyone looking for a great place to stay with exceptional service. If you want the best experience, make sure to ask for Laura, Javi, and Angel. They truly made our trip memorable!

This is a wonderful hotel and my wife and I very much look forward to returning. The staff are incredibly warm and accommodating, the service was 5-star and the ambience is incredible. We especially enjoyed the secret courtyard and the roof-top bar. The kitchen is also a highlight, we had several breakfasts there the quality of which rivaled any meal we had in this city known for its gastronomy. Highly recommend! Centrally located, easy walk to all of the best restaurants and sites in the old city.

This hotel is everything I could want. The building has a beautiful modern design (provided by famous local artists and architects) with large rooms and firm beds. The included breakfast is excellent. The location is close to the hubbub of the Zocalo, but far enough away to be quiet and peaceful. The central garden offers morning bird calls and relaxing chairs. The rooftop bar has a great view and offers a lovely place to finish off the day. I have not mentioned the best yet: I adored all of the staff. They all were friendly, warm, and ready to help without being asked. I would stay here again. I wish I could stay here in every city I visit.

The hotel was great. Everybody was great! One thing that we missed was having coffee in the room! Breakfast was very good! I love their green fruit drink! The hotel helped to get transportation from the airport to the hotel. They connected us with Javier Juarez. He was amazing! We stayed connected with him as he does private tour and he took us around Monte Alban and other places. He was very nice! Of course, Javier also took us back to the airport. Always on-time and very nice!

This place is very nice nice service but you are told not to take put toilet paper in the toilet because they get clogged up so this is ridiculous in a five-star hotel that you can't throw toilet paper in the toilet I would never stay here again especially during Covid for god sake

Worst experience ever! Hotel service was terrible. They decided to have a construction in the middle of the night and and when we approched the manager they invited us to leave the hotel. Yes, they kicked us out in the middle of the night!!!

Beautiful hotel but noisy and with open toilets The hotel is well decorared and its courtyard and terrace are beautiful. Staff attentive and nice Buffet breakfast is so so except for the quesadillas. Some rooms have no windows or windows that open directly to the walkway so bilds have to be kept shut for privacy. Some rooms only have a curtain between the bed and the toilet. Guess it will bring visitors even closer together.

We recently had our wedding here. This hotel is beautiful, the food is as good as any Oaxacan food in town and the staff is amazing. My family and friends from the US were comfortable here and my Mexican family marveled at the hotel and the food. If you want to spend some quality time in Oaxaca this place is an amazing base to explore the town with. The hotel can also arrange excursions to places outside of town such as Mont Alban. Each suite is designed by a different local artist and we enjoyed checking out all of them. If you want to hold a special event such as a wedding, Friederike is the best planner imaginable. She was on top of ensuring everything was handled from the meal to the flowers to the cake, music, photographer and mariachis. We were able to plan everything from the US without any problems. The wedding and the party were amazing! I have nothing negative to say about Hotel Azul!
