"Berlin’s German Resistance Memorial Center, close to Potsdamer Platz, recounts the city’s tales of resistance against the Nazis. The center is in the Bendlerblock, a historic military building where the expansion of the German navy was planned during the reign of Kaiser Wilhelm II and the role of the German army was reassessed during the Weimar Republic. In addition, several of those involved in the July Bomb Plot to murder Adolf Hitler and bring down the Nazi regime in 1944 were executed in the building’s courtyard. Apermanent exhibition, spread across a couple of atmospheric floors, documents the bravery, as well as the diversity, of those who fought against the Nazi dictatorship."

One of the best museums I've visited. Very informative and visual. I spent here 1,5h but 3h would have been the appropriate time. Tells a story of the forgotten true heros of wartime.

A very quiet memorial to the German resistance during WW2, the courtyard is mostly empty except for a statue and two plaques, still amazing to realise that the building is still standing. The museum had a lot of good information and was free, however there were few artifacts. Worth a visit if you are interested in WW2 history.

Historical place and great tribute to those who tried to resist the Nazi’s at the end of the war. Amazing to be able to stand on this ground. Very well preserved as it was on July 20, 1944. Also represented in the movie Operation Valkyrie starring Tom Cruise. They used this very location in the movie. A must see when visiting Berlin, especially those interested in World War II.

A must see in Berlin. It shows how not all the German people fell for the propaganda. The attendants were helpful and accommodating. The facility is well maintained.

The German Resistance Memorial Museum is free to the public. A somber and formidable exhibition! A potent, powerful reminder of the evil of Nazism unleashed upon humanity. These extraordinary individuals, groups who stood up against the hate and paid with their lives. These sacred stories rise up from their graves as a stark warning to heed in these dark, tumultuous times.

Very detailed museum. I imagine the museum has received increased visitation lately from the success of the film “Valkyrie”. However, there is so much more resistance related content in the museum besides the July 20 operation. It’s amazing to see how much resistance existed to the National Socialism movement and how these brave people didn’t bare the shame but resisted as the saying goes. Lovely and perhaps underrated museum.
