I was really excited to try the mango sticky rice here, but it was honestly one of the worst I’ve had. The rice was hard and clearly undercooked—definitely not the soft, sticky texture it’s supposed to have. The mango pieces were huge, frozen, and flavorless, like they were just chopped straight out of a bag. On top of that, the entire dish was ice cold and looked nothing like the appealing photo they advertised online. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this was a total letdown. Definitely not worth the price.

My friend and I dined at Sa Bai this evening. While my friend thoroughly enjoyed his shrimp with peanut sauce my pork with eggplant was ok. The veggies and pork were cut into such huge pieces, I asked for a knife. Even with a steak knife I had trouble cutting through the fatty pork. The jasmine rice was overly sticky so it was hard to mix into the meal. And it had no flavor. I have to say the service was excellent. I've been there before and have had better food.

I just love this place. The owner is so accommodating and genuine. The food is unique and so tasty. The pricing is beyond fair. I always tip more because im just amazed. I drive from San tan just to eat at this place. Thank you guys.

Google
This place is wonderfully unique and tasty! I took my 2 daughters on a dinner date and we had so much fun! The server was attentive, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was relaxed and cozy! Taking my husband next for date-nite! Thanks Sa Bai Modern Thai! We will see you again soon!

Google
The food from here was so good, like top notch pineapple fried rice and curry. Their fresh/spring rolls are very good with a lot of mint, and their peanut sauce is one of my favs. Weird experience at pickup. I went inside and it was completely silent with one person sitting alone at the bar and one person sitting behind the counter staring down at their phone. After about a minute and a half I said excuse me, sorry, I have a pickup. He looked at me blankly and then said “is that your order?” And had me check a bag sitting on the bar. I said yes thank you, and he looked back down at his phone. Awkward, but good food. Fair trade off??

Google
The floor was dirty. The dishes were broken. The rags they used to clean the tables were dirty and the servers carried them tucked into the rear of their pants. The portions were small for the price. The music was loud so all had to talk loud

Google
First off, the food was beyond amazing. It was flavorful and exactly the spice level that we needed it. Pui was the name of our waitress, and that was the best service we have had in a very long time. She was friendly and knowledgeable and wanted to know about us. Also, the restaurant has a great great little area for kids to play. I definitely saved this place as a must go again. you won’t be disappointed!

Google
Really good food, server was courteous, prices were totally reasonable for the giant servings they offer 😊 Only complaint: they tack on a punishment % for paying with a card. Your customer is already in-store and giving you their business, don’t add a punishment fee because you haven’t negotiated better rates with your payments processor. You expect me to tip AND pay for your card processing fees? No thanks. Customers are already expected to subsidize your labor costs via tipping, why are we now expected to cover your banking fees too?

Yelp
Dined in at SaBai for a dinner with some family friends, and they were very easily able to accommodate a party of 11. There were only 2 other couples in the restaurant when we were there. The food came out quite quickly and we all shared family style so we were able to try everything. The food was nothing extravagant, but the family who owns the restaurant were very nice and very attentive to all of our needs.

Yelp
i ordered this thai food during my trip to arizona. while the portions were generous and the price was cheap, the overall experience was just okay. i noticed construction in the kitchen, which didn't inspire much confidence, and my order came in styrofoam containers that made reheating a hassle. the flavors were underwhelming--the chicken was a bit dry and the sauce was pretty oily.

Yelp
Poor food quality, misrepresentation of menu items, small portions that are overpriced, very RUDE and confrontational staff (Gommy or similar spelling) that is not aquatinted with the menu or knows how food items are prepared. Be careful if you have allergies or intolerances, they don't care and will just try to sell the item, then lie and deny should there be an issue. We ordered takeout on the phone before close on 1/1/24, around 8:20-8:30 pm. We ordered Chicken Satay and the chicken curry with no onions. We asked if the chicken satay was fried/ cooked with oil, or grilled, because we did not want it if it was fried. The waitress helping us on the phone (Gommy) said it was grilled, but was not 100% sure and said she had to go ask. We were placed on hold as she proceeded to go ask, resumed and assured us it was indeed grilled. It was not. It was fried, dehydrated and oily (see media). We had also ordered the curry without onions. She repeated the order to confirm, but we got curry with onions... and fried chicken skewers that were shy of 4 oz and cost $14. The next day I called to request to speak to a manager. I spoke to the same waitress that took our order the night before, and casually explained the issue, but she got extremely defensive and spoke with an unprofessional tone and attitude, denying everything or any fault. From the beginning I gave her a disclaimer that I will not be arguing with her and wished to speak to a manager, but she continued saying she did everything right and wasn't her problem/ fault. To note, when my Fiance placed the order on speaker phone, I was present and heard everything that she tried to deny. It's these kinds of employees that ruin small businesses, and it would be in the owner's best interest to know how guests are treated and how concerns are handled by them. Also look at how our satay looked compared to another customer (last photo!) clearly not the same quality and that in itself warrants a refund.

Yelp
First time here.. The spicy noodles has really good flavor, I ordered very spicy just under Thai spicy the noodles were not as crispy as I liked.. seafood protein unfortunately did not have as much as I would have wanted which the lady on the phone said was gonna be a few bucks for me 8 is not a few bucks that's crazy to me.. The pad prik king with chicken it had great flavor, I would order this again! All in all the food tasted great but getting charged 8 bucks for the seafood on the spicy noodles really sucked!

Yelp
the food was amazing it was a tuesday night we were in town to travel out early the next morning. needed some good food before the flight. this place is totally it! great very friendly service fast food and oh so tasty. this is going to be a regular for early flights where we choose to stay in town overnight!

Yelp
Sa Bai has a drive-through so that when you don't feel like going into a restaurant, you can always get your takeout through the drive-through. Some of my favorite dishes are the appetizers that include sauté chicken with their peanut sauce and salad rolls. However, my favorite juice is their avocado curry.
google avatar

Farah D.

Yelp
My husband and I ordered take out from here Saturday. We ordered the Thai rolls, satay, hot and sour chicken, pad see iew, basil shrimp stir fried rice and tom yum soup. The only food that was even worth fully finishing were the appetizers - Thai rolls & satay. Everything else was a huge disappointment and did not taste good at all. I love Thai food but when I say we couldn't even eat it, had to throw it out, it was really that bad. And the food wasn't cheap either. We were so disappointed. I'm not sure if it was what we ordered or if all the other menu entrees are like this, but I will not be ordering from here ever again.
google avatar

Aarone M.

Yelp
Stopped in for takeout on New Year's Day. The gentleman who took my order was very friendly and helpful with questions. Ended up ordering fried rice with extra protein. Cost was around $20, which is super reasonable for the amount of food. The fried rice was yummy and fed 2 people with a little left over.

Yelp
I've gone back and forth on leaving this review because we used to LOVE this place and hate to tarnish their reputation from one really bad experience, but my last trip there was a public health issue that needs to be addressed. We used to go at least twice a month and enjoyed the food. The curry and drunken noodles were our favorites and never disappointed! The staff has always been lovely and attentive. We did have occasional hiccups with the sticky rice not tasting fresh/soapy or using frozen mango but having worked so many years in this industry it wasn't a big deal to me. Fast forward to last Thursday. I wasn't feeling well so my partner picked me up a cup of Coco soup. I ate almost half the container before I realized a floating cockroach leg....then I found two more.... All different sizes which tells me there were multiple roaches in this soup. I can't tell you how disgusted I was. The woman working there was apologetic and refunded our money, and also offered us new food but I couldn't bring myself to eat anything out of that kitchen again. Unfortunately we won't be back to our formerly beloved Thai place because I can't rid this image from my mind. I'm leaving this review to hold the owner accountable. Eric W, you need to clean your kitchen and reevaluate your kitchen staff. Totally unacceptable.

Yelp
It's not worth it. It's a legit 2 stars. Frozen mango for mango sticky rice, watered down coconut milk sauce... the quality is sub par. The meats are meh, flavor meh, I tried it like three times. I refuse to go back and I live right around the block.
google avatar

Jenna A.

Yelp
Some of the best crab wontons I've had! Their coconut soup is delicious as well. This is definitely my go-to takeout spot in Arcadia and they are always pleasant on the phone and always get my order right.

Yelp
Delicious food I am so happy to have found Sa Bai Modern Thai restraunt. This place has delicious food, quick service, at a great value. A hidden gem in a great neighborhood On this visit my lunch companion and I ordered the Tom Yum soup, and the Pad See Ew with chicken and everything was delicious. The Pad SeecEw was full of layered flavors and spices. The medium heat was spicy but just right. Some of the best Pad See Ew I've had in a long time. The soup and fried rice was outstanding, perfectly balanced. I can't wait to revisit and try the egg rolls, Krab puffs and Thai lemonade. If you're searching for great Thai food then you must go here . Both dishes were large enough to share. We will be back

Yelp
I used to love this place for take out Thai until I received their fresh rolls that had raw shrimp. I had a couple bites and notice the mushy texture & started looking closing inside the roll and pulled a shrimp out & it was completely uncooked raw. Hopefully I don't get food poisoning.

Yelp
Fast service and really wonderful food! They do pick and sit down, and I haven't had a single thing I didn't like. Great location too, plenty of parking. Never have to wait to sit, seems to be a family owned place. I've tried: -Chicken pad thai (spice level medium is good for spice lovers!), and it's tangy, juicy, and amazing flavor. My new favorite, and I'm picky with Pad Thai -Papaya Salad, also the perfect amount of flavor -Cream Cheese Wontons -Coco Soup was so delicious with chicken, mushrooms, and coconut milk broth -Thai tea, always good -Mango and Sticky rice, mango was amazing, rice wasn't entire cooked so that was my only complaint

Yelp
On a review writing "spree". I was in the area so I stopped by for takeout. It wasn't busy and I was able to order right away. I got their Pad Thai with tofu and added vegetables, and chose my spice level as hot. It was ready in about 10 minutes and I was out the door. I got home and began eating. It was more watery than usual and the tofu didn't have much flavor. Some of the noodles didn't get cooked well in the sauce (looked dry and were clumped together) but tasted cooked. The veggies were a good mix, and the spice level was fine. It was a good quantity, but not the best dish I've had. Service was quick and friendly and prices were average. I noticed they have a drive thru pickup window (not sure if it's for ordering too but I don't think so). It did fulfill my craving so that was good!
google avatar

Jay J.

Yelp
I go here because it's close. The lady at the pickup window did not greet me, just stared at me with the window half open, and when she finally came back with my food, handed it to me without saying a word and closed the window. I think I'll drive the extra mile next time Update: why tf is my pad Thai pink? Tastes like there was a mixup with the recipe

Patrick M.

Yelp
The Cooks are Amazing but the Manager slash server is amazing she is so kind so sweet and omg so beautiful definitely coming back when she works Friday Saturday and Sunday

Yelp
I used to the Tempe location all the time. Now I go to the one on Thomas. It's always perfect. I usually order ahead and pick up to go. Green curry with chicken is my favorite
google avatar

Brandon G.

Yelp
Super tasty. Everything here is good, the Avocado curry is outstanding, the pad thai never disappoints and the rangoons and rolls are a must. Food is fast, and price is very reasonable for quality and quantity!

Yelp
Went to this place for the first time. Staff is friendly. Food came out in a timely manner and was delicious. Portions are large, had enough to take home.

Yelp
5 stars. Food is fantastic. Service is very good. Prices are fair. Highly recommended.

Yelp
I had been wanting to check this place out for close to a decade (it has to have been that long). Well, after deciding upon walking home from the airport and then deciding it was too hot and too far, I found myself outside SaBai. I thought, what a perfect opportunity to grab some water and a bite to eat. I went in, it was a Tuesday and just after lunch (1:00 pm). I was seated immediately and brought some water. I started with their spring rolls that came with a side salad doused in peanut sauce. I skipped the salad, enjoyed the rolls. I also ordered the veggie curry and when given the option for spice level, I went Thai spice. It was warm and spicy but still full of flavor. I often worry that the spice will ruin the flavor, that was not the case here. It was full of veggies but the way it was laid on the plate had me not want to make a mess. I took a few bites and decided to take the rest to go. Which I would probably just place a to-go order if I stop in again. I understand the presentation effort but for me, I guess I wasn't as appreciative that it was all compartmentalized a bit. Pricing wasn't too bad, nor was the food or service.

R D.

Yelp
Subpar ingredients and zero flavor. Over priced for what you get. Too many great Thai places within a mile. Will not return.

Nathan M.

Yelp
This place is so hit or miss I can't even believe it. Been here many times in the last 14 years. If you want Thai spice, better go back behind the chef to make sure they actually put anything spicy in there. What a joke. Pad Thai tasted (not spicy) vinegary. My wife could eat it which indicates that there was zero spice. What? Will never go back. Hostess was nice and accommodating. Pot stickers were what you'd expect from a standard takeout, so not as disappointing.

Ashley S.

Yelp
Did not like the pad Thai. It was a weird texture and had so much sauce at the bottom almost seemed like they boiled the noodle and just threw the sauce on it. The service was good and the crispy rolls are good. I did order the spicy Thai fried rice also and it tasted like curry rice not Thai fried rice.
google avatar

Jessica C.

Yelp
Ordered from here it isn't good I feel sorry for the owners wife I know she tries really hard, but I've ordered from here multiple times and it just is always okay or just ends up no one eating it. Sadly I've stopped ordering from here even though it's one of the only spots in the area.
google avatar

William W.

Yelp
Ordered from DoorDash. I'm by no means a Thai food expert but the food is delicious! Arrived hot packaged well and everything is flavorful I really like it! Their potstickers are a little different but very good. Pad Thai potstickers and crab wonton

Yelp
Should have checked Yelp first. Google gave them a 4.3 star rating, so I thought it would be at least ok. Placed a pick up order over the phone. We ordered one order of Shrimp Pad Tai, 1 large Coconut soup with shrimp, and a side of rice. The person taking my order asked how many scoops of rice? I asked how much rice is in one scoop? She could not tell me how much rice a "scoop" was. And she asked how many people are eating? I said my wife and myself. She said three scoops should be ok. When I got to the restaurant to pick up my order, The total was $49! for 1 entre, large soup, and rice? seriously? then they turn that little tablet my way where it asks you to sign for the charge, and of course to make you feel obligated to tip. I did not. So when we got home this is what we had: A huge container of rice! Why didn't she tell me I was ordering a lot for two people? I asked her specifically how much rice was in a scoop? these are huge scoops, and I must have paid over $10 for too much rice, because the order person cant explain the portions they sell... or offer any sound advice to a new customer. Also, the pad tai to go portioning , is way to small for the price! It's at least a 3rd smaller than we usually get, and taste was way below average for most tai places. $ I would gladly pay $49 if this was some amazing tai food, but for this? A total joke!
google avatar

Julia F.

Yelp
Have stopped in a few times to pick up take out - Great food, good service, wish the portions were a little bit larger for the price (definitely a treat - dinner/takeout for 2 usually costs at least $50 before tip and/or delivery if applicable) but overall a great local spot!
google avatar

Kristen E.

Yelp
Nice little local chain for good Thai food. We needed a quick dinner one night, and they had a kang dang curry and chicken fried rice ready in just 15 minutes. Every thing tasted good, and if (hypothetically speaking) one of you has just gotten over food poisoning and needed something bland, they can make your dish without any spice at all. After ordering over the phone, I hopped in the car, parked in their private lot, paid, and left to eat while it was still hot!
google avatar

Mike Y.

Yelp
I'd had the beef in basil sauce. Not exactly what I was thinking when I got the dish. The beef was more like Mongolian beef style. They did have some basil. Flavor overall was okay, but I would have liked more of a mince chopped beef style type of dish. It felt like the dish was more of a fusion of Mongolian beef / almost your usual pad gra prow,, wish I was craving more for. But they don't have that on the menu. Number 3 spicy, is not spicy at all. So if you want spicy maybe put more emphasis on telling them to be Thai spicy. The waitress or waiter was super attentive and pretty quick with service. Friendly overall. No issues there. Inside was pretty clean even though outside looks different or not as fancy. Parking is not an issue. Pricing is Usual thai price around $14. Would recommend checking other thai places.
google avatar

Becca F.

Yelp
I like to come here for lunch during work and the lunch portions are great. My favorite is the yellow curry with chicken. The Thai Tea is the perfect pairing to help cool off the spicy (to me ). Each time I go the service varies, some times are slower than others regardless of how busy they are. So I try to make sure I have plenty of time just in case. Either way, I would definitely recommend SaBai for some classic yummy Thai food!

Lady L.

Yelp
I really enjoy the food here and it's convenient to where I live. The reason I give three stars is because someone took me on a date here after I suggested it, and the waitress was rude thru out the entire meal, and when she delivered the check it was awkward she stood at the table holding it waiting for someone to take it, like why not set the check down on the table or give it to the man and let us figure it out on our own. My date did not enjoy the service either. Maybe she had had a bad day? I don't know, but it really turned me off from sitting down to eat here, but I really like the food so I prob just order to go next time.
google avatar

Maggie S.

Yelp
The only reason I ordered from here was because Thai Recipe Bistro is closed on Tuesdays and we were desperate. I hate to be this person, but seriously if it's not a Tuesday drive the extra mile and go to Thai Recipe Bistro. The portions are literally twice as big for the same price and the flavors are so next level. This spot doesn't even come close. :/
google avatar

Daniel N.

Yelp
Prices- reasonable Ordered- Tom yum soup (hot), Crab wonton, Pad prik king (hot). Soup was OK- shrimps were big but it was somewhat light on vegetables. Crab wontons were excellent- will definitely order these again. Pad prik king was absolutely amazing- very reasonable portion and balanced flavor, beef extremely fresh and not fatty. Hot was (for me) not insanely hot (I may dare to try Thai hot on next visit).
google avatar

Stephanie V.

Yelp
The food is very delicious but the price is very expensive that's the only reason I will take one star. The ladies are always very friendly and deliver exceptional customer service.
google avatar

Corey H.

Yelp
Omg this place is amazing. The sauce is soooo good. Food came out very fast. Great service too. They got the order perfectly!
google avatar

Sophia K.

Yelp
Pretty good, very organized staff and takeout gets made promptly. Not the best Thai in the world but it's become a regular thing I order for easy nights
google avatar

Adam T.

Yelp
Careful with the spice! Our medium spice was very very hot, but all tasted great! I'll go back and select mild.
google avatar

Becca R.

Yelp
Food was average. Service was ok but it was one girl taking care of all of the tables and takeout orders so she did the best she could. They definitely need to hire another server or someone to do takeout orders. Overall it was a very average experience. Would not go out of my way for this
google avatar

Leslie N.

Yelp
This is my go to Thai food place! The food is authentic and high quality! The restaurant is always clean and the staff are kind and friendly! I would recommend you visit and have some delicious Thai food!

Yelp
We really enjoyed our takeout dinner from SaBai! The spicy fried rice and crispy Thai rolls were our favorites. We have been meaning to try this place for a long time, and we'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Let me start off by saying - LOVE THIS PLACE and definitely a great spot for delicious Thai food! I'd also say this is a nice spot for Thai food "newbies" to get some great food thats not too adventurous for those who aren't used to the unique flavors. I read several mixed reviews and was nervous to order thinking we might not love it, but SaBai turned out to be exactly what we wanted. We had a family of four with two Thai food lovers and two less adventurous eaters, and there was something for everyone on the menu (we were all satisfied). We ordered takeout which is also always a risk (easier to get things wrong over the phone and have some dishes come out at different temps), but everything turned out delicious. We ordered the avocado curry, basil shrimp stir fry, vegetable delight, fried rice and cashew chicken. We appreciated that they asked for spice level, and ordered a couple of the dishes in medium and mild. The medium was SPICY but in a great way (I loved spice), and mild was truly mild with great flavor. They also let us customize our order to make everything with brown rice for an extra cost, which was great since a lot of places won't offer brown rice. Added plus for sure. Don't let mixed reviews scare you from ordering from here - we had a great experience and look forward to ordering from here in the future. There's not many Thai food options in Phoenix/paradise valley/scottsdale, so we hope this place continues to stay open through the pandemic! Thanks SaBai Thai for a great meal :)

Patricia B.

Yelp
Underwhelming sauce, Gluey pad Thai noodles with no carrots or cabbage & minimal sprouts. Asked for extra lime as many Thai places don't use enough or only have lemon. The extra lime was sour and dried out. This is not modern Thai.
google avatar

Fiona F.

Yelp
Ordered delivery from amazon prime. Pad Thai and wonton soup. Here's the pics. Overall pretty damn fast and yummy.
google avatar

Yelp
Love this place!! My boyfriend & I get takeout a lot, I always get the pad Thai and he gets the spicy noodle. Both really good

Yelp
Fast service and delicious food! The staff are kind and very responsive to our needs. I would highly recommend this Thai food if you are visiting the area!

Yelp
I normally don't write anything until I go to the restaurant 5 times. The first time I went there the yellow curry chicken was good. The 4th and 5th times that I went there with the same order, the food tasting has declined from the first visit. Their food tasting is very inconsistent after my 5th visit. The last visit my yellow curry tasted watery. It wasn't creamy. I was not impressed with their food. I have decided to eat elsewhere. I am not saying not to go there but you should try the place to see it for yourself. You may agree with me.
