This was one of the worst accommodation experiences we have ever had on Airbnb.
The place is a huge disappointment because the building itself is beautiful and could be extraordinary, but it is clearly abandoned in terms of hygiene, maintenance, and management.
From the very first moment, the property was shockingly dirty. Not just “not perfectly clean” — genuinely unhygienic.
The common areas were filthy. The hallway floor had a sticky layer of dirt that left our feet black every time we walked through it. We were told that cleaning was done twice a week, but this was clearly not true. The level of accumulated dirt showed that the place had not been properly cleaned for a long time.
The kitchen was a disaster and a health risk:
Extremely burnt and unusable pots
Drawers, including the cutlery drawer, with cockroaches running inside
A refrigerator with mold and food left behind from previous guests
It was impossible to use the kitchen safely.
Our room had also not been properly cleaned before our arrival. After just two days, my partner and I had to clean it ourselves:
Thick dust under the bed
A used paper left behind from a previous guest
Sticky floors
The balcony was in such a bad state that we had to clean it three days in a row before it was even remotely usable
Despite this not being our responsibility, we spent an entire morning cleaning common areas with cleaning products, scrubbing floors and surfaces, trying to make the place livable. We did this because we care about living in a clean environment and because the situation was simply unbearable.
When we raised these issues with the receptionist, his behavior was extremely hostile, arrogant, and unprofessional from the start. Instead of acknowledging the problem, he:
Tried to convince us that the dirt was “normal”
Refused to take responsibility
Blamed other guests for the lack of cleanliness
Proposed absurd “solutions” like meetings with all guests or creating a WhatsApp group — none of which ever happened
His only real response was repeatedly telling us that if we were unhappy, he could cancel our stay and we could leave. This was said knowing it was a very busy period in Buenos Aires and that leaving with all our luggage was not a realistic option.
Even worse, after telling us that “no one had ever complained,” we met another long-term guest (a doctor who had been living there for a month) who confirmed he had been complaining about the exact same issues: no cleaning, moldy fridge, and leftover food from previous guests.
The situation escalated further when the receptionist openly said he did not want “problematic guests” like us — simply because we were asking for the most basic condition possible: cleanliness. During this interaction, he behaved in a prepotent and intimidating manner, accused me of being aggressive (which I was not), and even stated that our money “meant nothing to him.”
After enduring these conditions for 10 days, despite having booked for an entire month (and planning to stay longer if things improved), the host ultimately canceled our stay, leaving us without accommodation after we had already suffered unsanitary conditions and hostile treatment.
This experience was deeply disappointing and stressful. What was advertised as a comfortable place to stay turned into an ordeal. The architecture may look nice, but the reality is a place that is dirty, poorly managed, and where guests are treated with hostility when they ask for basic living standards. We absolutely do not recommend staying here under no circumstances!!
