This was an amazing find as a restaurant and if you are in the area eat here! It is relaxed and serves some of the best food we have eaten on this trip to Portugal and Spain. All the dishes were packed with flavour and are local. The wine was great and everything added up to a fantastic experience!

The owner speaks perfect English so we can understand well the small menu - but very well cooked and homemade style. Local beef dish with rice and potatoes followed by homemade deserts and some excellent vino branco

It was a good place to eat. I was only sad because the famous dish that it's made on the wood oven it's only available at weekends. But the food itself was good, as the environment

This is restaurant is a must-do if you are in Soajo. Cachena beef is tender and very tasty. We had "Carne Cachena" mela for 3 persons. The beef, rice and bean dish and also the vegetables were awesome! Considering the amount of food and especially beef, plus quite big pours of wine, the price was very affordable. Only 42 euros for 3 adults. Food would have been plenty for even 4 adults.

I had the best experience at Saber ao Borralho. Not only is the restaurant a welcoming, cute, cozy, family-owned business, it is very well located and the surrounding area is absolutely beautiful. As a vegetarian, I was so happy to find various delicious options including the couvert, soup, veggie burger, veggies, and rice and beans! I recommend trying the cheesecake, it is so creamy with homemade fig jam. Absolute gem in Soajo.

What an amazing experience and service. It is local food, meat based, and it is delicious. We had the local beef for two people—it was served with a rice dish that was fantastic and veggies. Best beef ever. Our server (also the owner) was very friendly, suggested a fantastic wine pairing for our meal, also excellent to chat with. The restaurant is very nice, great ambiance. They speak Portuguese, French, and English that we know of. A wonderful way to end the day after a long day at the park. Quick note—they only accept cash, no credit cards.

The Cachena cooked for over 6 hours was beyond delicious with its sweet crackling fat and moist meat. The vege cabbage and carrots of the highest quality and perfectly seasoned. Efficient and friendly service with excellent local wines. Booking recommended as the restaurant was full by 12.30 with people waiting outside.

Yelp
We walked past Saber Ao Borralho while starting our hike from our lodging in town and are thrilled we returned in the evening. The exterior and interior of the building are delightful, especially at night. The food was delicious, the host very pleasant and patient with us as our Portuguese language skills are terrible. The host started our meal with olives, a seafood pate and bread. I deferred to the host when ordering a bottle of red wine and the selection from the Douro region was perfect with our meal. We were fortunate to be served the Cachena Assada for our evening meal as the dish is usually served during lunch. The meal is prepared for two people and comes with a side of vegetables consisting of cabbage and carrots. There were five adults so ordered two Cachena Assada and the salad as well. The amount of food was perfect. We finished our meal with the fig cheese cake and chocolate mousse.
