Safari Room Fresh Grill and Bar

My wife and I tried the hotel restaurant because we were given a $20 voucher at check-in. We'll be coming back after having the best meal of our trip. The meal, dessert, and drinks were quite reasonably priced. Our waitress was also outstanding.

The Safari Room Bar is a lovely experience. Everything about the furnishing and building makes you feel elegant. Friendly bartender, and exquisite espresso martinis. Stopped by the bar on a Friday evening around 6 and were able to snag two seats easily.

The safari was on the first floor of the Devanport Tower hotel where I had breakfast and dinner. There were not many staff in the restaurant so it took a while for them to come and take my order. I finally placed my order but after a long wait I found that I didn't have any forks, knives or napkins. So I couldn't eat and had to wait for a staff to come. I had a Lemon Basil Salad and Mushroom and Fontina Flatbread. Both the salad and flatbread looked very good but the taste was just so-so, so I left half of it. The atmosphere in the safari room was good, but the service was slow and the foods were okay. I'd like to try something else next time.

We went into this space after the Bridal Fest and had an amazing time. Our server Robert was absolutely fantastic and made our experience wildly enjoyable. We planned to stay for one but ended up staying for three rounds because he made our visit so enjoyable!

I took my daughter in for a birthday treat and a bit of food. This is a beautiful restaurant inside a beautiful hotel with an obvious tiger exotic cat theme to it. The service took forever. It took us 15 minutes to get a glass of water, that was after she took our food order. I got fried green tomatoes. They were under salted and slightly under cooked. The presentation was nice. ( I am from Alabama and have been eating them my entire life) I had the tortilla soup or something to that effect. I was disappointed they did not include any type of bread or tortillas. The beans were under cooked in the soup and it was just ehhh. The presentation was not appetizing My daughter had chicken fingers and fries. They were ok. She told us there was a free dessert for birthdays, I had the lemon sorbet and my daughter wanted Ice cream. The only reason I am giving 3 stars is the presentation and skillfully put together sorbet. It was delicious and my daughter soon stole my sorbet lol. The server brought the check before the dessert, Then forgot to comp the dessert and had to rerun my card. They were understaffed on server's, so I will give her that. Fundamental 101 mistakes were made and this comes from a guy, that works and has worked in the service industry and bar industry for 25 years. I just believe she needs a bit more training, She was super sweet though. I could tell she didn't really have any help as well so I'm not throwing it all on her. I am throwing it on management for allowing such basic mistakes to occur as of the place was not even remotely busy there may have been 4-5 tables total including us. I tipped her like 33% because I felt bad for her. Not to mention everybody needs to tip servers more, believe me I've been there and done that. The pricing was reasonable. I just expected a bit more from such a nice place inside such a beautiful hotel. If I go back it will definitely be for the sorbet. Although they did have an antelope burger that looked tasty and exotic.

The Safari Room is located in the beautiful, historic, Davenport Hotel in Spokane, Washington. My husband & I came in for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon. We were seated right away by friendly staff and drinks were offered promptly. The decor was lovely, there was a fire burning in the fireplace, there was pleasant music playing lightly in the background, and everything was clean and attractively placed. The lunch menu included a delicious selection of appetizers, salads, soups, hand-helds, and a variety of drinks. Our server was courteous and offered helpful suggestions which aided us in making our meal selection. The food was nicely plated and delicious! I strongly recommend giving this spot a try.

Over the weekend, I had the pleasure of dining at a Davenport Tower hotel, and I must say, I was blown away. The breakfast at the safari room was a delightful experience, from the homemade salsa to the fluffy eggs and crispy bacon. The delicious options left me wishing I had taken a picture to capture the moment. ( All the more reason to go back.) For dinner, the shrimp appetizers were pretty tasty, although the toasted bread lacked flavor. Perhaps a touch of butter or garlic butter would have elevated the dish. The fish and chips for my main course were a pleasant surprise. Unlike traditional versions, the dish was not overwhelmed by the batter, allowing the flavorful fish to shine through. The homemade tartar sauce was the perfect accompaniment. I would order this again.

What made the night good? Our waitress, Athena, was awesome!!! She was attentive and communicated extremely well. She exceeded normal service. That said, the food was just okay. Don't order the steak. The other meals were just okay. They weren't bad (except for the steak) but they weren't as good as the area represented itself.

9/10/24- A rough evening at the Safari Room. Ambiance was fine, hotel restaurant standard. Waitress Kylie had no real interest in providing good service. We got water with menus, she didn't ask if we wanted anything other to drink. Ever. I asked her if they had a drink menu and specifically if they had hard cider. Never got a drink menu, never got a hard cider option, never even got a refill on the water. For the food- ordered the mushroom and cheese fondue; it was basically flour mushroom soup. Absolutely zero cheese consistency, heavy flour taste and somehow with all that flour it was liquid. We dripped it on our crostini as we were starving. Also we had to ask for appetizer plates so we didn't drip the fondue soup all over the table. My burger which was supposed to have cheddar on was devoid of cheese and it was waaaaaaaay too pink. Fries were lukewarm. We never did see the waitress after another server dropped off our food to see if we needed anything; not until she brought the check when she said "everything ok." It wasn't even really a question. I told her not so great and showed her the soup fondue, my empty water glass and reminded her about the drink menu. Her reply? "Yeah it's my first night and they're having a bad night in the kitchen". Really? Then don't charge the customer for fondue you know is less than sub par. Don't even put it on the table. Go the extra mile and apologize. And maybe train the servers to deliver some degree of customer experience. It's a short walk to other places which I will for sure be looking for tomorrow. What a shame. I don't have rediculously high standards but I do expect good service. 0/10 recommend.

I had two meals at Safari restaurant while staying at The Davenport Tower. This time, I was not feeling well, so I could only eat half of what I ordered. The most delicious was Leek and potato soup and beet salad. The beef bresket sandwich had a slightly tough meat and a bland taste. BBQ-chicken wings were also hard. The cheesecake was big and tasted okay, I just ate two bites. It's convenient and has good service because it's a restaurant inside the hotel, but I wanted a little more variety of menus

In Spokane for a meeting, and saw chicken Marsala on the menu, had to stop in. Ryan was my very professional Server, who took great care of me. The house salad was fresh and full of greens and vegetables. The Marsala and couscous was generous, tasty and more than I could eat. The place is very chill for a hotel, it is a legitimate restaurant. I am very pleased with my experience.

We come to this place for work all the time and the people here are some of THE best service professionals in this industry! They are kind, patient, and have the best attitudes out there including their manager Jill!! Today was my second time trying their dinner menu. The first time I had their blue cheese sliders with a garlic aioli and it was probably the saddest sliders I had. However, I needed to try something different and try to give them a second chance! So I did, and thankfully I had a better experience. I got the grilled chicken pasta which was okay. I felt like it needed a bit more salt or flavor to counteract the heavy cream based sauce. However, still good! My friend had the Ragout, and he said it was really good, and my other friend had the flatbread which she said was good as well. The place itself was busy due to a large town event happening but the crew still managed to keep the ambience relaxing and inviting! So 4 out of 5 stars for food quality, 5 out of 5 stars for service, and 4 out of 5 stars ambience. Oh ps the drinks they got were pretty bomb too!! The coconut mule and the old fashion. PPS...If you go for breakfast, they never fail on delivering amazing sweet cream pancakes!! Just a thought!!

Food good-staff great-beer HORRIBLE. For a light beer all they have is bud light...no local craft beers. Absolute fumble by management-in an area surrounded by craft breweries...this is a big let down

Breakfast at the hotel is good but it's not free or even slightly comped so that's a point off. Other than that it's great. The French toast is especially delicious. The warm diced apples mixed with the sugar and the maple syrup was amazing. The standard eggs bacon potatoes dish was good too.

Fast service. Friendly staff. I had a glass of wine and ordered the flat bread during happy hour. They have great happy hour deals (4-6 I believe). I loved my BBQ flatbread. It had pickles on it! The ambiance is great. A group or a couple would enjoy alike.

Six of us went to dinner at Safari Room before going to a downtown event. Everything was just OK. I had lunch there about 6 months ago and it was much better - Chef Salad. I was served brisket which was dry and tasteless. I also had pork belly which appeared to be half-cooked cubes of fat with no flavor. No one at the table was very happy about the dinner.

Here is a modern take on a Grand Hotel ambiance. The bar decor's with real and fake trophies from African safaris. The bars cocktails are second to none. Solid and delicious perfections of mixologist potions that are also beautiful. The staff, especially Austin the barman, are so professional and nice. The bar menu and drinks are awesome. Enjoy!

We had tried to eat across the street at the Davenport Historical Hotel, specifically at the Palm Court Grill which everyone was talking about. Everyone had good things to say but unfortunately their wait time would have put some of our group late to the airport. So we walked across the street to the Safari Grill and even though there was only a group of 4 ladies in front of us, we had waited about 25 minutes when the line started to get long. There was a guy behind me that was worried about missing his plane and then an older gentleman started to complain and walked over to the waitress and they bumped him in front of all of us. That was rude on his part but the waitress should never have let him do that. The guy behind me and some in our group really started to let her hear our complaints and she was like "it's not my fault" but it is. We were all staying at the hotel and he had no reason to be allowed to jump the line. After we did sit down the waitress took a long time to serve us and then the food took a really long time. I know these times are tough as far as getting and keeping employees, we did see many others sit down after us and get served, including some friends that came about 40 minutes after we sad down and received their food about 5 minutes after us. Food was good but I'm still waiting for the Tabasco sauce :(

I've had the salads, BBQ, Gumbo and flatbreads. All was delicious. Bartenders have been nice and attentive. Draft beer selection good. They have an expansive drink menu beyond that. The decor is really unique. A good mix of casual, yet classy. Very consistent service. I don't think you can go wrong here.

We stay at the Davenport Towers frequently. The Safari Room has always had reliably great service and breakfasts. During a visit yesterday my wife and I were extremely disappointed. We order their eggs benedict frequently. We both ordered it yesterday. Everything was mildly warm at best, and parts of the eggs benedict were cold. The hashbrowns were well cooked, but only very slightly warm. It seemed like they may have put very cold hollandaise sauce over the eggs. The service was friendly, but very slow. There were only a couple other tables with customers and everything, including coffee, came out very slow. It is the first time we have been disappointed, and we may give them a try again.

Mary and I stopped in for the first time Saturday afternoon. We were greeted by friendly staff and seated. Our tasty beverages came right out. We shared the Thai chicken flat bread and Cougar Gold Gold cheese dip with baguette; both were delicious!

I happen to stay at the Davenport Tower during the holidays. Since the weather was cold and it was icy outside we decided to stay indoors and dine in the Safari room at the hotel. They had a limited menu but great choices. Carissa was our server. She was kind and pretty busy but made effort to continuously check in on us. We ordered the following : -SALMON FILET Grilled northwest salmon filet, fresh huckleberry, roasted vegetable couscous, asparagus. I also added a side Ceasar salad. My friend ordered the Ceasar Salad with added chicken Housemade caesar dressing, garlic croutons Parmigiano Reggiano, grilled lemon. My salmon was so delicious, the couscous was amazing with the huckleberry and the asparagus was complimenting to all the delicious flavors! The Ceasar salad was good. For dessert we tried: -SIGNATURE CRÊME BROLEE Housemade caramel, crème anglaise, fresh berries Very flavorful, right hint of sweetness and creamy. I chose the COOL CUCUMBER non alcoholic drink. Cucumber, simple syrup, jalapeno, lime juice, soda It had a unique combination but complimenting flavors. Kudos to the chef and thank you for delicious food on a beautiful day.

We met a friend there on Monday night around 8pm and got seated right away in a booth so that we could visit. Elizabeth was our server she was awesome. She was knowledgeable and friendly. We had wine and our friend had manhattans that she seemed to love. We also ordered the Farnham Flatbread which was really good. The shrimps on it were a little spicy but the flavor of the shrimps were overall awesome. We were there a few hours as it's a great place to meet up and relax. We'll definitely be back.

In the lobby of the Davenport Tower is where you'll find the venue for Safari Room Fresh Grill and Bar.  True to its name, when you come here might as well be called "Bwana", because you'll feel just like you're the BIg Boss on an African Safari ;-) The decor is wonderful and very interesting; pay attention to the detail - I'll think you'll enjoy it :-) Tip: From 4pm to 6pm, there's a HH with flat-breads and drinks for half price! Service is attentive and helpful; if you're a guest at this hotel the Safari room is a good place to stop for a libation after work and/or park for a few hours with your laptop and get some things done.

Excellent lobby bar/ restaurant, much better than expected. Often super loud during happy hour, but that's part of the charm. Good food, wide selection.

I was excited for a nice evening out at a nice restaurant my family has frequented but left feeling disappointed at the food. Service was good my waiter was able to substitute the potato salad from the bbq pork dish so the service is good. The food however leaves something to be desired, the brisket was not edible in the slightest and not anything like I thought it would be just a few shavings off low quality meat, ribs were good but lacked amount of meat, most of the meal was bbq sauce if I'm being honest. Beans were bad but the fingerling potato's were edible at least, if not extremely bland. Dessert was the only highlight of my meal. I'm not sure if it's due to what I chose to eat or if they just want to give people scraps of meat, but it wasn't worth 25 dollars for my bbq sauce soup with over baked beans. In summary great service bad food please do not order the brisket!

Came here for late night dinner after a night out. Was looking around to be seated and nobody approached us until I approached Lexy, a server who happened to be at the bar waiting for drinks to be prepared and she told me to sit wherever. We sat, Lexy handed us Late Night menu and we ordered a burger, a brisket sandwich, and St. Safari for drink. The brisket sandwich was so tiny, but the meat was tender and tasty. The fries was amazing! The burger was good as well. They need to improve their bread, though. Now the problem is when Lexy gave us the check. My husband noticed price discrepancy for brisket sandwich, it's showing $17.95 while the menu says $15.95. Like any confused customer, we asked her why and if she can correct it because the price in the menu is different. She gave me a blurb saying the manager just left yada yada but she'll see what she can do about it. A few moments later she came back and told us "They said they can't do anything about it, the menu is 'outdated', it's just a $2 difference anyway." (She also handed us another menu that I don't know what its for). Now, I understand it might not be her fault, but saying "it's just a $2 difference anyway"? Since it's just $2, why can't the place do something about it then? It's not a matter of how much the difference is, but it's a breach of trust. The price in their menu is what they advertised, yet they sneakily spiked up their price. Sure, Safari, take that $2, but Yelpers, please don't ever go here unless you want a nice little surprise in your check! If you happen to come here anyway, remember to review your check, it's not gonna make any difference since they won't do anything about it anyway, but at least you can help others by reminding them to never, ever come to this place.

Honestly, the ambience was perfect. I don't think you can improve this place unless they got rid of that deadbeat bald bartender I travel all over the world for work and never in my life. Have I been kicked out of a place or been told I can't be served after having two drinks between 6 & 7pm & wanted 1 more at 9:30pm also i am a hotel guest. I will never stay at this hotel again.

We had the pleasure of staying at the Davenport towers and this restaurant is located in the lobby. While we were there on an extremely busy weekend with graduations, weddings and Father's Day we at there three times and we're always highly impressed. A group of four of us had breakfast and had the best server! The food was delicious and unique so it was fun to try different things. One of us ordered the flatbread breakfast option and it was delicious as well was the avocado toast I had. We came back after the graduation and had a larger group of 8 and the staff was quick to accommodate us and super helpful. The food was delicious and they had gluten free options which was great for our group. We look forward to coming back and staying at the Davenport and dining in the Safari room. Thank you!

Oh my God, we have stayed at the establishment in the past, but we were there for a week Kayla our bartender was amazing. We were there to watch the Kentucky Derby and asked for a special request if they could make a mint julep, which is the signature drink of the Kentucky Derby she went beyond and so did the bartender that was on duty with her. I'm sorry I forgot his name, they made the most amazing drinks I have ever drank in my life. My husband agreed they were incredible. That was that day only she took care of us every day. We were there when we came to have happy hour or dinner. Amazing service amazing personality. This is the type of employee you want to give massive kudos to because they give your establishment a good name, incredible personal service always with a smile she is one of the reasons we will continue to support The Davenport safari bar and restaurant. This girl needs a raise times 10. I saw her take on a load of customers when no one was there to support her staff shortage and she still performed amazing

We had breakfast here using the voucher from the Davenport Lusso. The food was excellent as was the service, even though it was quite busy on a Sunday morning.

Love the ambiance. Hotel is lovely and original. The bloody mary looked impressive, with all the stuff. I love that! But i didn't like the mix at all. The soup was good. A little salty. But ill be back for sure!

Talk about some amazing service and delicious food. While staying at the Tower I was pleasantly surprised after returning from a wedding that the bar and kitchen were still open. From the seating to the decor it is nothing short of majestic. The list of cocktails is impressive. The staff were busily cleaning up the bar and were doing a top notch job. The variety of late night food items is astounding and the flavor of the food is incredible. You MUST get the Cougar Gold Cheese Dip! The staff was extremely friendly. All of them even the ones that weren't serving us. They all looked happy to be working here. The restaurant/bar itself was extremely clean which is a huge plus.

I've missed having a Ginger Dragon ! Had the spicy shrimp flatbread ( not as spicy as it could be ) now dubbed the Farnham flatbread. Delicious - I had enjoyed it before all the praise during Gonzaga basketball commentary (poor Sean looks real "tan" on the menu pic). Had the crab Louis salad which was more than a generous serving / half a head of butter lettuce, perfect hard boiled eggs , tomatoes and eight huge pieces of crab with extra dressing . Perfect !

I was staying at the hotel for three nights and decided to check out the HH at the Safari Room. Unfortunately, due to some parking situation, my coworker and I missed HH by two minutes. I ordered the Strawberry Smash as well as the mushroom flat bread with fontina, herbs, and truffle oil, and also a caesar salad (split in two) to share. The Strawberry Smash took about an hour to make because the bartender was really backed up. I didn't like my drink at all because the two shots of gin were so overwhelming that additional strawberry puree and 7-up did not help. It was not a coherent drink at all and I was not trying to get lit on a business trip. Mushroom flat bread was such a delicious meal. It was super cheesy and full of flavor, and great for sharing. Caesar salad had really fresh and crisp lettuce, rich dressing, and also really yummy herby cheese-flavored croutons. My server was amazing! She removed the drink from my bill because she noticed that I didn't touch it at all. Thanks for not letting me pay for something that I really didn't like. A+ for service!

I came here a few weeks back on the eve of Superbowl Sunday. I had to work in town that day. I was battling a cold and they were serving a wonderfully flavored Curry lentil soup in the lounge. It was a comfort food for the mind, body, and soul. Definitely a pick me up that was super delicious. I also had the Bailey's banana rum hot chocolate "monkey milk". The place wasn't crowded and the fireplace was definitely cozy to sit by. The Safari jungle theme was very unique and fun. I also Loved the elegant touches with the fountain and flowers too. The bowl of soup was only $8 and the drink was under $10. I thought the prices were great and they also had WiFi and a charging port for my phone. I really loved my visit. I originally had plans to go to the Steam plant restaurant but they were closed. Parking is free on the street on Sundays and the location is very ideal to everything downtown. The hotel looks like a nice place to stay too Next door is the opulent and elegant original Davenport hotel which is definitely a must-see if you are a tourist in town. This was definitely a highlight to my work trip. Kudos. Thanks to my server too who found my car key that fell out of my coat pocket after I left. Glad all was found and my happy hour was definitely content, cozy, and one I definitely will remember.

Absolutely the best breakfast I've had while traveling. As a professional pilot that means I travel and eat in restaurants a lot. I ordered a simple standard breakfast. It wasn't fancy, but everything was cooked perfectly. Service was top notch as well. Thank you!

What an excellent date night place. The hubs and I were looking for something quiet, with a little bit of an upscale feel. We had a gift card and that is primarily why we chose this place. I've come here for happy hour meet ups, but we ended up coming here for dinner. Service was good. Our server was attentive and answered all our questions without being overbearing or totally absent. I ended up ordering the fettucine with grilled salmon and the hubs ordered Southern comfort chicken. Both dishes were amazing. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the pasta was delicious. But the star of the show was the sauce on the chicken. It is a caramel made from southern comfort that had the right amount of sweet and salty. The seasonal vegetable was green beans and I could not stop reaching across the table to dip in that sauce. If you are staying in the hotel, I highly recommend dining here at least once. And if you are a local, I also highly recommend putting this place in your rotation.

Not bad at all considering it's a hotel restaurant/bar. They have great hh deals, especially for drinks (half off everything). Not much diversity in terms of crowd though. Their breakfast was also pleasantly good. We were in a rush to get to work on time but our server took note of that and made sure to get us in and out in no time. 10/10 would go there in a short time window again. But do expect those hotel prices.

Last review from this week! This was my first stop during my pre-birthday weekend. This location was open seating when I went so we chose a little booth. My oldest sister and I each ordered Benedicts (our usual go to), I did the crab and she did the smoked salmon. They were both so yummy! (I never would have thought to put crab in eggs Benedict but they pair so nicely together.) I do have to also say that the Davenports hash browns were 10/10 crispy on the outside and soft on the inside! We each had 2 flutes of well made mimosas (I say well made because I usually don't care for them but these ones was darn good). All in all it was a quiet but nice experience dining here though it's not on my list of places I MUST revisit.

I was with a group of nine and my only complaint is that they don't take reservations. Show up, tell them how many, and hope for the best. Their curry lentil soup has some kick and is definitely a winner in my opinion. You can order a cup or a bowl (go for the bowl unless you are having something else and then the cup is big enough to complement another dish). I had the bowl. Yum. Also, if you aren't very hungry, the cup would probably be enough, especially if you are a light eater. One person in my party had the halibut fish and chips. She didn't go away hungry and was trying to give away some of the chips. They looked good, but I'd already eaten enough food since Thanksgiving, and I'd like to save some room for the upcoming celebrations. I saw the shrimp cocktail placed in front of another person in my party and that looked delicious. The shrimp were huge! The menu has some nice items and the décor is great. We had a lovely waitress who took care of us quite efficiently. Fun experience.

The company of davenport historic hotel does not accept vertical ID if you want to drink alcohol. Such a joke lol...It's not even a state or local law...they just choose to not accept vertical ID even though you are over the age of 21.

Absolutely love the happy hour here ! Half off all libations and half off their amazing flatbreads!! Get here at 4 as it gets crowded . They also have a nice pork sandwich and Burger for late night . They serve great lunches and excellent dinners as well . Service always a 10 ! Prices really not bad !! It's a very nice ,upscale hotel hangout!

This is my favorite place to go for happy hour. The ambience is lovely and the drinks are always on point. I went for my birthday earlier this year and they even gave me a free dessert with a sweet birthday message. The flatbreads are also on happy hour and quite delicious!

Great place inside the Davenport Tower hotel. Open bar area. Drinks were great and the staff was quick and efficient.

Not too bad of a restaurant in a hotel. The fried chicken dinner entree was probably the most interesting and tasty item in the menue. Totally recommend. the restaurant has open seating and sometimes the servers take a while to get to you bury they make it over eventually. The happy hour is pretty good and the flatbread and drinks are 50% off. Good deals and food just the service can be somewhat lacking. One of the food runners didn't really have good communication etiquette to customers but what do I know.

I first stopped by here when I interviewed for pharmacy school. I stayed in the hotel, but that's a different review. I usually go hear for their happy hour which is from 4pm to 6pm. Drinks are half off and you get some good deals on some flatbreads. They have a heavy pour which I greatly appreciate as a poor college student. They have a nice selection of specialty drinks which are tasty as heck. It's usually open seating and the servers are really attentive which is kind of a feat considering how busy it can get. Props to them. As I progress through my program I'll definitely be visiting often.

The family came here for lunch to celebrate a birthday. My father-in-law order two hummus appetizers for the table (we were a group of seven); however, the appetizers didn't arrive before our entrees. The waitress was very apologetic, and the manager insisted on taking it off the bill even though my father-in-law argued against taking it off. The hummus appetizers were delicious. I eat a lot of hummus and this had great flavor (would definitely recommend it). As for the food, my wife's curried lentil soup and salad were perfect, especially for $6. My wife make her own lentil soup, and she said that this was a definite thumbs up. I had the breakfast flatbread, and it was a lot of food and very tasty (I had it without the cheese because I really can't stand cheese). Several in our party had the pulled pork sandwich and said that it was very tasty. My brother-in-law, who had the mac and cheese, said that it slid down his throat easily. If you use the valet parking, it is free when you eat more than $10 here. Just show the receipt for your meal.

I had a really fun evening at the Safari Room. Really, really fun. It was Christmas Eve and not much was open. Their happy hour deal is fantastic! 100% of the drinks on the bar menu are half price. Their flatbreads (rectangular pizzas) are also half price. And unlike on a cruise ship, they don't care if you order more than one drink at a time. Not that I have ever ordered more than one drink at a time in my life...before the Safari Room. I arrived shortly after 4pm after exploring downtown Spokane all day. Their list of warm cocktails was appealing, and I started with a Nutty Morgan (rum, Frangelico, coffee, and whipped cream). It's ok with me that the cherry was missing as I don't like them anyway. It was warm and comforting. I had a hard time choosing which flatbread but I went with the mushroom. To go with it, I ordered a glass of brut (dry) sparkling rose. The flatbread was swimming in oil, but I easily sopped it up and then it was delicious with soft bread, earthy mushrooms, and tasty cheese. The rose was very dry and went with the flatbread well. Later I ordered another hot cocktail, the Irish Tiger (Bushmills, Kahlua, coffee, and whipped cream). This was also warm and comforting. I wasn't quite full so I ordered a cup of lentil soup and it was an extraordinary specimen of lentil soup. I am not much into soup or lentils but I was looking for some protein and this was very flavorful. To end my evening, I ordered a glass of port wine. Since everything was half price, I ordered the more expensive of two choices and it was delicious. The bartender did not care if I had 2 drinks at once. Things cleared out when happy hour ended so it did not matter that I lingered two more hours, slowly working on my soup, wine, and coffee cocktail. I had an enjoyable time writing thank you notes, reading, and writing in my journal...and I've discovered that a good happy hour is just as enjoyable as a great coffee shop...and I did all the same kinds of things. Compared to another happy hour I went to in Spokane, this was the much better deal. Having 100% of the drinks half price is amazing as it allows one to try a wide variety of things. The food options are more limited, as only the flatbreads are half price, but the other food items are reasonably priced.

The beauty and Ambience of this incredible hotel is lovely. I would think twice again about ordering the salmon wrap along with the curry lentil soup. I tasted NO curry in the soup whatsoever. The salmon was very salty. Perhaps it's was a smoked salmon but it was cured a little too long. I'll have to give this place another try another day when I'm in town visiting from Seattle.

I was happy to try the safari room on our last night in Spokane. We had wanted to see this Davenport location with the safari theme and bar area. We missed the HH deals so we ended up sitting at the bar area and ordering drinks and a light dinner. I had the Dungeness crab entree salad which had large pieces of crab with tomatoes on a bed of arugula with cucumber and avocado. It was pretty good overall, but was lacking crab. The cheese dip was tasty, creamy and extremely filling. Perfect to share as an appetizer among a lot of people. Overall, a nice atmosphere but overpriced for the food selection and quality.

We had brunch here this morning. The restaurant is in the Davenport Tower across the street from our hotel. We had thought about Zip's, but that's about 4 blocks away and it was cold and drizzly, so Alan researched and came up w/ this. I hate the decor, which is mainly animal heads, real and sculptural, on the walls. Behind the hostess desk is a taxidermied tiger in repose. A plaque beneath it explained that it had lived its entire life in the San Diego Zoo and had died of natural causes. I appreciated that. Basically my advice is that if you have delicate sensibilities about killing animals for sport, don't go to a restaurant called the Safari Grill. I do, and it was disturbing. It didn't occur to me when I heard the name that that's what it would be. I'm not too quick in the morning, I guess. We were seated at a 4-top that was part chairs and part banquette. We were given menus. Our server was Gale. She was upbeat, charming and helpful. We looked over the menu and both decided on the crab omelet. Alan had his as a scramble w/ Swiss cheese rather than Parmesan. It came w/ mushrooms, spinach, avocado and I forget what all else. We had a choice of breads and chose wheat. We both ordered Earl Grey tea and were pleasantly surprised when the sweetener choices included Stevia. I started out on the banquette and then switched to the chair when it hurt Alan's leg. That switch gave me a view of what looked like the head of a real antelope or gazelle or something w/ twisted horns. The omelet was delicious, full of crab and other ingredients and made for a delicious mix. We're making up for our Dungeness crab deprivation. The accompanying hashbrowns were nicely crisp on the outside. The wheat toast came w/ strawberry jam that looked homemade. Alan liked it. I don't use jam, so I didn't taste it. The tea came w/ a cup of hot water plus a pot of hot water for each of us. Gale later brought us another pot of hot water and a tea bag. Her service was exemplary and lifted the dining experience to 4 stars.

Amazing service & food. Granted a limited menu during COVID but fast and amazing for takeout to the room. :) we've tried the steak, salmon and most of the appetizers. Just fantastic!
