First off, the organisers (doesn’t matter who — they were all equally responsible) promised a safe space to party and claimed to have such legal documents to do so. Then, it got raided and more than 30 expats got taken in to the police station and kept for more than two days. Everyone was compounded and a few expats were given extra trouble regarding their visa status. I have never felt more unsafe in a venue that openly and falsely advertises to be a “safe” space to party. The only thing that lit my night up was the main DJ’s music and one great white man’s humour. This venue should NOT be allowed to still run events and CHARGE MONEY. To add to that, the organisers should have the MINIMUM decency to cover all legal fees of at least the expats who were remanded. Oh, and also, the organisers have not even bothered to ask the main DJ and those taken in how they are — the lack of care is kind of disgusting.

In Jan 2022, Safe House hosted an event and assured potential attendees that they were one of the three venues in KL that were granted a permit to do so. This event was promoted heavily online, and the organisers sold tickets for entry. It became clear that this event was falsely advertised, as they were raided by the police an hour after starting - for NOT having a permit. Everyone in attendance was compounded RM1,000.00 per person, and foreigners were taken into custody for 2 nights. The organisers should at the very least be made to cover all the legal expenses that were incurred by their customers. Instead, they have taken zero responsibility for outright lying, and have refused to acknowledge or apologise for the horrible ordeal they put everyone in attendance (and their loved ones) through.

What was supposed to be a fun night out turned to be one of the worst days of my life. We were promised SOPs would be observed and capacity limited, hence why we had to pay an entry fee. When the police raided the place, whether it was the due to missing event license or breached SOPs, they took our passports and forced the foreigners, all of us legal expats, into jail for 2 days. Had the full Orange is the New Black treatment, handcuffs and all, just because of the organizers’ irresponsibility. The owners haven’t said a thing - no apologies or refunds, even going as far as blaming it all on the attendees. Shame on you.

My only night at Safehouse ruined 2 months of my life and cost me rm8500++. After promoting an event as safe, following the city's regulations and SOPs, the people in charge completely ignored their patrons who (for most of us) were attending our first event since the pandemic happened. They let their establishment get raided, didn't sort out the situation and let 30+ of us go to jail for a few days. The result was a traumatic experience for all the foreigners (regardless of their legal status). IDs confiscated, left in the dark, bribes asked for decent human rights (phone call)... I had to pull my passport back from immigration to get out, hire a lawyer and even then, it took my 2 months before having my documents back. All this because some people wanted to make money. This place is anything but SAFE. It only has a Kopi Thiam license. Meaning alcohol is illegal, music is illegal, events are illegal. Basically, do not go in there. Ever.

The irony of this name is off the charts. Safehouse, marketing their events as safe, licensed, and approved by the police - a safe spot for people wanting to enjoy nightlife in KL. None of the above is remotely true. In fact, it's so much of a lie that their last party got raided and almost everybody went to jail. Yes ... to jail. The police rounded people into lorries and drove them to the balai, kept them there, on the floor, all night long, then fined them. Some of the people attending the party got thrown in lockup and had to spend another night there. After release they had to deal with fines, court summons, police meetings, and had their passport confiscated. 10/10 if you're looking for "basic" accommodation and don't mind sleeping on the floor.

I was invited to an event at this place and paid RM35 per entry. Probably had the worst night ever after 2 years being in lockdown and going out for the first time. Premise was raided by police stating the premise didn't have licence for operating and SOP breach. All party goers was fined with RM1000 and foreigners was taken to police station to spend the night. It's an utter disgrace that the organisers and the premise owners didn't show up or got back to us asking how was our well being. If you want to spend your money in this illegally operating business go ahead, if not stay away from this place. SAFEHOUSE AIN'T SAFE AT ALL!

This place robbed a whole lot of us of a ton of cash because they lied to us. We were told that we were entering an event that was permitted. Little did we know that 1 hour into the event it would be raided by a platoon of cops who made us feel like sore criminals because this venue had nothing more than a coffee shop permit. Stay away from it if you cherish not being harassed by the ugly judicial system malaysia has put in place since the pandemic.

Very irresponsible premise to Organize parties when Covid is still around. The management is also washing hands after the raid. Think 10 times before going. They say it's not their problem. Nak tidur dalam jail pergi la ke premis ini.
