The 6 Best Hostels in Warsaw (Updated 2025)

"As part of a reputable small European chain, I consider Safestay a solid option, especially for solo female travelers since they offer female‑only rooms. Located just outside the Old Town, it has a lively on‑site bar and a packed activities program — pizza parties, game nights, organized walking tours of Warsaw — which makes meeting people easy. The hostel has a cool vibe with art and quotes throughout the halls; dorms have thick mattresses, privacy curtains, individual plugs and lamps, and small under‑bed lockers, and the top‑floor bar has board games for chilling out." - Matthew Kepnes

15 Things I Hate About Backpacking

"Hostel kitchens are frequently messy despite signs asking people to clean up: many travelers leave dirty dishes because it’s not their kitchen and they’ll be gone soon, so someone else is expected to do it. I avoid the kitchen if it’s busy or messy — I didn’t travel to clean up after strangers — and I think people should follow basic hostel etiquette instead of treating shared kitchens like someone else’s problem." - Matthew Kepnes

The location is excellent, you can walk around many good places, there are plenty of good restaurants around and the transportation options are good. The room was okay, the bed sheets were dirt, the shared shower and bathroom had strong smell due some piping issues. During the time I stayed there weren’t any cleaning supplies and the bedroom remained unclean. Depending on the people who stayed the room were decent. The breakfast wasn’t the best. For the price is worthier to eat out. The kitchen is good and you should pay extra to use it. There are some social events happening specially on weekends. The staff working there were nice, the check in and check out is easy. I don’t recommend it. Up to people if they want to get for what they pay. I wouldn’t book it ever again.

The location is excellent, less than a 5-minute walk from the castle. The four-bed dormitory has curtains for good privacy, bedside lamps, and two charging sockets. There's a large storage cabinet under the bed, easily accommodating a 55-liter hiking backpack plus a 25-liter backpack, though you'll need to bring your own lock. The hostel provides paid towels. The Wi-Fi is excellent. There are two showers and a toilet outside the rooms. A shared hairdryer is available at the washbasin. The common area is on the rooftop, where you can eat. If you want to cook your own food, there's an extra charge. Baggage storage is free before check-in, and 10 złoty per person after check-in. The hotel reception also thoughtfully provided information on Warsaw's daily free attractions and their opening hours.

nice location in the centre of old town. the staff is really nice. we even got the room early because we came before check-in. we went to the pub quiz which were really nice. it’s every Friday at 8pm. now to the bad things. let’s start at the bathrooms. disgusting. there mold on the door. the floor is greasy. the smell is weird and like fungus. u feel dirty after taking a shower. and it’s just really old and bad. the rooms looked okay in the beginning. but it hadn’t seen a vacuum cleaner for weeks at least. the wall were dirty. and in generel the place could use a renovation. it’s so old and dirty. there holes in the floors. but honestly, it’s cheap and okay. and we actually had some good days. but they could get better at cleaning.

I never post comments on Google, but in this case I have no choice. I have stayed in many hostels, but honnestly this was my worst experience. This place is anything but safe, and I do not recommend it, especially to women. During my stay, another woman and I were victims of sexual harassment. Unfortunately, the employees are not trained to handle this type of situation, and I don't blame them because they did their best with the knowledge they had. But management should provide them with training on how to respond appropriately if this happens again, because this lack of information puts them at risk as well. That's not all. The hostel was infested with bedbugs. They told me that this had never happened before, so a traveller probably brought them in, but I later discovered that at least three people had been bitten that same weekend in three different rooms. This does not surprise me, given the overall hygiene of the bathrooms and common areas, which leaves much to be desired. Once again, I would like to point out that I am not criticising the volunteers/staff, who really did everything they could and were responsive, understanding and kind – it is thanks them that I did not give the minimum number of stars for the service. Actually, I spoke with some of them who admitted that they are working in very poor conditions, which came as no surprise to me. In short, this hostel does not deserve its name until the management deigns to treat people, both employees and customers, the way they deserve.

I had a small issue in the hostel where some guests took my food from the shared fridge. Daria, Atlas, and Hakim were incredibly kind and professional. They helped me sort out the situation calmly and made sure I was compensated. Their support was really helpful and made me feel taken care of. Great staff — thank you!

I think best of this place was its location. Rooms where alright, I feel mattresses a bit too small. Bathrooms sometimes clean some times not that much, showers a bit small and a bit uncomfortable. Kitchen was not that great equipped and sometimes it was too dirty. On the other hand, laundry service pretty good and there is a bus stop right outside where the 175 bus stops. This one takes you to Warsaw-Chopin International Airport.

The location is great. The room is clean, but there are some dirts on the bed sheet and blanket. The toilet... First of all there's only 1 toilet at each floor, not separated into male and female toilet. Also, no body wash nor shampoo is provided, while most hostels provide at least 2in1 body wash+shampoo. And it's quite dirty. The basket in the shower is full of dirts, I wouldn't place anything there. All in all, it's price worthy, but I would pay more for another one.

great value! perfect location, super close to the main square and right next to a great restaurant. room was very clean and folks at the front desk spoke good English and answered all my questions. they sell bottled water in the lobby which we bought each night. it's not luxury by any means and the room is small - but if you are looking for location/price/cleanliness this hits the mark.
