Safo absolutely blew me away—every single bite was an explosion of flavour and creativity. Highlights? The broqueta de llengua de vedella brasa with pico de gallo (grilled beef tongue!), the stewed salt cod tripe with grilled maitake and blood orange— totally unexpected. Beef cheek with pickled mussels and bean + onion tacos, cod belly carpaccio with citrus and cod liver with peas and bread crumbs... what can I say, I loved every dish!
Not so crazy, but seriously insane, the chocolate ganache with bread crumbs, olive oil, and salt. A quiet revelation.
Add in natural wines and the warmth of the loveliest couple running the place, and Safo becomes more than just a meal—it’s a memory. I found myself back there more than once (okay, twice in a week). If you’re in Girona, just go to Safo. It’s magic.
