Sagaretxe

We went there for a quick beer, but the server was very rude to us. He took our glasses even though we hadn’t finished, and basically rushed us out, saying they were closing soon. But I noticed other tables were still sitting there, and he didn’t say anything to them. He even took a glass we weren’t done with. I asked if we could finish it, and he said okay but he never apologized. I don’t know why he gave us such a bad vibe and made us feel so uncomfortable.

Overall expensive bad food ! We has a few pintxos made with old bread, chistoras which got cold within couple of minutes and where not really good, artichokes very basic and dry, and pulpo which was the only good thing but for the price a very tiny portion. Overall avoid this place go to San Sebastián for real good basque food, or try any other basque restaurant in madrid !

When you are in Madrid it’s a must try! The basque cuisine is the best and the pintxos (tapas) here are so delicious, so fresh and just melt in your mouth. Atmosphere and the staff are excellent as well. Don’t miss this place . Highly recommend.

Great place to dine in! either “tapas”, or “pintxos”, or beef… there is no bad choice in this place, and with affordable prices. The staff is really nice so for sure we will come back again !

Oh wow! That’s the best ever! Vasco restaurant never ever been better! Top quality of products, top customer service from maitre and waiters, food perfect cook and well presented! I really love it this restaurant definitely I will come back home with specials memories! Thanks so much ❤️

Delicious dinner here, the fish was to die for! Would recommend just be prepared to use Google translate if you don’t speak Spanish.

I really like the tapas and pintxos here, you will like the style of restaurant it is old-fashion. The staffs are so nice.

Me and my boyfriend discovered sagaretxe through the fork app we were looking for somewhere to eat typical Spanish cuisine while in Madrid. We made reservations for 9 had to wait a bit since we arrived a bit early the dinning area did not open till then, since it is custom for everyone to have late dinners in Spain. We had sangrias while we waited. They quickly sat us. Spanish is my first language but the menu had terms I was not familiar with so I asked our waiter for assistance and he gladly helped we knew we wanted cod fish croquetas so we asked for those and some iberic ham, got that as well we told him we wanted to share some beef so he recommended the solomillo and we got some fries to accompany it. No if you've never been to Spain all there red meet is cooked rare. But they can cook it for you a bit more if you've never wish. The waiter wanted to let us know that he would take some pcs and cook them more for me if I wanted since I told him I did not like my meat to bloody lol he said he wanted to make sure I left happy. I told him I'd let him know. The croquetas came out. And omg they were so crispy on the outside and the fish on the inside was so soft it was not overly salted they were cooked to perfection. The ham was delicious my boyfriend had never had it very soft kind of salt and peppery flavor. The meat and fries came it was definitely very buffet for my boyfriend the meat was red but very soft and tender it was lightly salted we agreed it could have had more salt but we still ate it. The fries were thick cut and golden yellow on the outside and soft on the inside. All in all I think it was a good 8 out of 10. To end the night we had rice pudding ( arroz con leche) and expresso. it was a bit watery for me and I think it could of use more cinnamon I'm very familiar with the dessert since my mom would always make it. All in all I do recommend you come to sagaretxe if you want a nice dinner and drinks and typical Spanish food.

yes it is as good as it gets!!! Las tapas de este lugar son de los mejor que he probado! todas ...creo que sin excepcion estan para chuparse los dedos!!! Tienes que ir, el sitio se llena a tope pero bien vale la pena ya que esas tapas son deliciosas! Yo probe una de queso brie(mi fav) con una mermelada de frambuesa, delicioso! tambien hay una de pimientos rellenos como con una crema blanca tambien exquisito! es que todo lo que ordenas es delicioso! y como las tapas estan alli todas para que las veas te antojas de cada una de ellas! En la parte de arriba hay restaurante si te apetece cenar y bueno los precios son mucho mas altos..pero creo que bien valiera la pena darle una probada a eso tambien. VAYAN!

My boyfriend and I just arrived in Madrid today after a splendid visit to Barcelona. We dropped off our luggage at the hotel and headed to Sagaretxe, intrigued by a positive review in a guide book. We went to order at the bar and the woman with dark curly hair was downright hostile to us, most likely because we don't speak much Spanish. Her manner was so terrible (truly, I am not one to exaggerate) that I thought briefly about turning around and leaving. But we were hungry and decided to soldier through. We took our beer and food out to the outdoor section, where the waiter was totally uninterested in us, though at least he was not hostile. We waited forever for the check, and when it finally arrived there was no "thanks" or any other nicety. The food was just okay-- we had pintxos that was so much better in other parts of Spain. We won't be returning, and would not recommend. It was such a downer after being treated so kindly by everyone else we've met during our trip.
