We booked for two nights, stayed one. We were unable to open windows as the grounds of the 'hotel' which is more of a guest house, were infested with shield bugs which came into the room. We only had the windows open half an hour and about 50 of them came in and had to be thrown out. The room was simple and a bit sparse. Certainly not good enough for what they were charging. For the same costs you can book a proper hotel with appropriate standards if interior and quality. The aircon unfortunately was an all or nothing type so we either were hot or freezing air straight onto the bed. The bathroom drains were an issue with a bad smell of sewage all night. We mentioned this all the following morning as the reason we were not staying. Unfortunately the receptionist had to inform the owners regarding any offer of compensation etc. needless to say as we had to apy upfront, no offer has been forthcoming.
That said, credit where it is due, the lady re receptionist who also did most everything else around the place, was excellent, friendly, efficient. The breakfast was set out on each table rather than a buffet due to lack.of room in the place but was good quality. Its just a shame the accomodation we were given was not fit for purpose and the owners not very savvy re customer satisfaction. As I understand it, its owned by the same people who own the local cider mill and two restaurants. It doesnt seem they feel the need to be competative re price or sensitaive about reputation. If you are looking for something local you can get far better for less elsewhere.
