A fabulous stay and experience at Sagastrand Resort, that has a beachfront with a beautiful view of the city skyline. This resort is one of the most modern & best valued beach front resort with a European fusion flare in Olango island. ||||I stayed in one of the rooms in the econo cabin, which is a newly built house with 2 individual ac rooms with a very comfortable plush bed and private bathroom. ||||This was my 3rd trip back and I am constantly surprised with the new developments such as a 2nd pool to accommodate the day time guests while the overnight guests have there our own with ample lounge chairs. ||||Besides snorkeling and bird watching in the nearby Olango sanctuaries, I enjoyed unwinding on the outdoor massage bed with a fresh mango shake overlooking the beach in the evening and also, walking along the long dock while watching the local fishermen, who live in the neighboring community, bringing in their daily catch. ||||I actually had an amazing opportunity to have dinner at a fisher family's home as I befriended Nanay Baksi, who worked at the marine sanctuary and who happened to live in the fishing village close to the resort. I was truly graced by her and her family and relatives genuine kindness and hospitality. As we bonded further, she shared about the impact of the pollution, overfishing, and natural disasters that devastated the livelihood of her community. ||||I deeply appreciate all the efforts and hardwork that many invested to help these communities including us tourists as our tourism dollars support those, who patrol the marine sanctuary from illegal fishing for the protection and repopulation of fish in the surrounding areas while also providing funds for livelihood projects, which give the locals another source of income. The marine sanctuary is ran by the Barangay/neighborhood captain, who initiated a coop program to share the profits from entrance fees, sale of their handmade products, and restaurant with the locals managing and maintaining it.||||I also discovered to further help with the communities, the director/manager of Sagastrand, those working at the resort are all locals. Over 5 years, she now employs 30 locals and growing. As well, she provides internships for the local students. ||||Being even a small part of this, by simply enjoying my holidays with genuine beautiful hearted people at the resort and the communities, truly has been an unexpected blessing and a more meaningful and purposeful experience in Olango island.

My family and I went here last October 2018 for the celebration of our wedding anniversary. We booked through Agoda that gave us the lowest price (lower than the hotel price and other websites!).||||We were actually looking forward to a beachy environment where we can swim in the sea, and rest in the sand all day long. Their accomodation is good, as well as the swimming pool where water is kinda salty. I believe it’s from the sea which is better for me than putting chlorine in tap water (which is usual in resort’s swimming pool). ||||The sand in the shore line is nice. It’s kinda comparable to that of Boracay because it’s fine, although some parts are a bit rocky. ||||What really didn’t impressed us is that it’s mostly lowtide, making the swimmable water very far from the shore line. I also don’t like the fact that I’ve seen hotel staffs washed the barbecue grill directly in the sea. I am not sure what else they wash here, but I believe there is because the water is not so clean. ||||Having these, we needed to rent a boat that could bring us to an island with clean water, and where we can snorkle. ||||I would not recommend this resort if you’re looking for a place to swim at the beach. If you’re after a good accomodation, and just after the pool, this is one’s okay.

On my Cebu visit, chose Sagastrand as earlier reviews were positive. ||And I was not disappointed. From the airport take a taxi to the wharf & you can either take the public banca or a private one direct to Saga. Haggle though as their initial quote is over the top. ||Check in is 2 PM but I got there early by half an hour & the staff happily accommodated me. The big tick is the friendliness of the staff.||My room was a cabin with a double bed, shower & toilet, ac which was terribly noisy & two 500 ml of water. I liked their attention to details as along with the standard stuff like towels & soap they had a toothbrush with toothpaste. Another tick Saga.||The place is huge with 2 big pools & 2 smaller ones. Well manicured gardens, clean pools with poolside seats & ocean views. Occassionally one can catch a plane departing from Mactan airport.||The resort has a small beach at it's door step so gr8 for walks on the beach under the stars.||The restaurant menu is exhaustive & I tried the chicken curry with rice & spuds but whilst the sauce was tasty the potatoes & chicken were a bit on the tougher side. Breakfast of bacon & scrambled eggs hit the spot right on.||Saga is a gr8 place to chillax & it was mostly empty on my visit. The bird sanctuary is just 10 mins walking distance. Saga could improve on more drinking water supply in rooms & fix the noisy ac's.||All the best Saga!

A very beautiful place though it is still being developed. Very safe and the staff, including the people around the resort, are all very nice and accomodating. The billiards should have been free since we rented a house there for 3 days but we had to pay extra. The pool was salty but refreshing. Could have been nice if the beach was developed so that we could swim there as well.

A bit above average accommodations. Although there was nothing special, nothing really jumped out at me. Check prices using the various booking apps as well as ask at the desk. You have a signal and can save 1000p per night depending on what answers they give you. The pool is in good condition as of the time I am writing this, and you have a roof deck that gives you great views of the water at night. Food was overpriced and mediocre, but edible. The beach is OK. Not great sand, but fairly clean. Watch for debris though, bare feet may not be the best choice if you are not up-to-date with your shots.
