A friend of a friend recommended Sage Farm Fresh Eats when we told her we were heading to Durango on vacation, and so we stopped in and enjoyed our food so much that we came back again...and again...eating there three times in the span of four days. The place is set up in an "assembly line" format so that they build your food for you as you go, though with some items, you'll just order and head directly to the other side of the counter to pay while they make it for you--such as with the two pulled pork sandwiches I ordered over the span of our trip. Can I stop for a moment to talk about that? Their specialty is the Porchetta Pulled Pork, which you can have as a sandwich or as a meat added to other dishes. I was in love from the first bite. It's pulled pork meets Italian seasonings, and it is absolutely amazing. The other version, BBQ (sort of a peach BBQ), is delicious as well, but I was especially won over by the Porchetta version. Either is amazing with their Fennel Slaw. (Trust me, I don't even like fennel, and it was perfect on the pork.) I had my first sandwich as part of the Sage Duo, which allows you to have more than one item in a single meal. The other half of that meal was the Summer Berry Salad, which was super fresh, tasty, and not too sweet, as so many fruity salads tend to be. My wife loved the salad as well, which she paired with the Cremini Bowl, something she also thoroughly enjoyed. At another meal, she ordered the broccoli cheese soup and found it to be heavenly. Most everything comes with your choice of chips or focaccia bread (which is what the sandwiches are made with). And if you haven't had enough focaccia by the time you are done, you can grab an entire, huge slab of it for $4. Yes, that's right, $4. The service, by the way, is super friendly. The restaurant itself has a moderate amount of seating and could perhaps use just a tad more light on the end furthest from the windows. But that's being super picky. This place is a must-stop on any trip to Durango, and it certainly will be for us from this point forward.
