"Copper Beaters Souk at Place Seffarine The plaza of Place Seffarine, dominated by the entrance to the al-Qarawiyin Library and a sturdy old tree, is one of the most pleasing areas in Fes. As you approach, you’ll hear the sound of the copper beaters tap, tap, tapping away. It’s well worth perusing the stallsto find high-quality cookware to take home, such as pixie pans for boiling milk for your coffee, copper tagines and teapots, and prettily etched bowls for use in the hammam. Stop at the café for seriously strong coffee and to watch the world go by, or scoot around the corner onto Derb Chouara for hot, sweet mint tea spiked with various other healing herbs at a hole-in-the-wall where you’ll rub shoulders with local craftspeople taking a break from their labors."

It was amazing to see the artisans working up close, hammering copper into all kinds of shapes. The pieces are stunning, and in one shop (I took a photo of the seller to remember it), I found the best tea pot in the Medina. It’s heavy, well-made, and the price was fair after some negotiating. Definitely worth visiting if you love and appreciate handmade work.

A little tricky finding your way through the alleys but absolutely worth it. They say Fez old medina is the closest you can get to a medieval muslim city and it’s an experience indeed.
People are friendly, you’ll find quality bronze tea pots, pans, cups and much more.
Would love to come back some day.

Lovely square to visit within the medina. And the Cremerie La Place - a small tea spots right at the top of the place was likely the best mint tea we had in Morocco. Highly recommend to visit, sit at the place with some great tea and observe the square.

Suggest to take a seat at the litte cafe in the small square the watch the craftsman making various metal goods. If you are in luck, a tiny adorable cat would also stay by your side to accompany you :)

Place Seffarine is a small yet enchanting square tucked away in the heart of the medina. Known for its metalworkers, the square is filled with the sound of artisans hammering away at copper and brass, creating beautiful handcrafted items. It's a fascinating place to watch traditional craftsmanship in action and soak in the local atmosphere. The surrounding buildings, with their historic charm, add to the ambiance. It's a peaceful spot to take a break from the hustle of the medina and explore a piece of Fez's artisanal heritage. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!
