Woaw this place is a very good place. I had a burger which was one of the best I've ever had and the Oreo cheesecake was delicious also. The servers were very kind and cool. We had a very good time there and if I had to spend some more days in Vienna I would come back with no hesitation 😀😀

Very enjoyable visit. The staff were friendly and helpful. Multi lingual too. Great atmosphere. Excellent menu choice and if you like your Gin and Tonic you'll be very happy there! I recommend the peanut cheesecake.

The service was fine, the burgers were much nicer than in other joints (my opinion) and I will forever love their sweet potato fries. The only disappointment? The milkshake. But I will live! Definitely will come back to try other burgers. Oh, and make sure to reserve - this restaurant is located on the Ring and there are plenty of tourists in the evenings.

Very good burger, lovely gins. It was going so well. But, apparent lack of staff left us feeling ignored, so we didn't bother with the anticipated cheesecake. Then, there was a "card machine" failure, so all tables had to pay in cash... very dodgy considering the manager was away, there's a cash machine outside and no itemised receipt was given. I would have gone back as burger was really nice, but I was ultimately left with a bitter taste from the service.

Awesome restaurant for beef lovers! This modern design restaurant is a beef themed heaven. Their butchers plate starter is a combination of Carpaccio, Tartar & Roastbeef that unifies some of the best beef tastes. Their burger menu not only offers the traditional styles but also some very culinary creations. We weren’t able to try their awesome looking cheesecakes since the starter plate and a burger are more than enough even for a hungry man. The gin variants are based on a very good selection of Europe’s best gins. This restaurant is a total recommendation for everybody visiting Vienna.

Google
They are known for three things: burgers, gin & tonic, and cheesecake. Take any of these and you won’t be disappointed. The burgers are, perhaps, the most boring item you can get off the menu. Do t get me wrong, the ingredients and the combination of each burger are great. I just found the ones I had a bit lacklustre, lacking in flavour mostly. The cheesecakes are fine and their G&T selection is amazing. Forget the burgers and give their filet steak a try. It’s absolutely delicious, with nice sides, for an unbeatable price. More value than you’d expect to get in that area. Trust me.

It was my first visit to "......said the butcher to the cow". I was very satisfied with my "Goat 'N' Beef Burger". The meat quality and of course the location at the Ringstrasse justify the price. Kaltenhauser Kellerbier from the tab for EUR 4,6.- is totally fine and a big plus. I would definitely return. This could also be a great place for gin-lovers. Huge selection.

The food is great. The atmosphere is really joyful. The space and decoration truly enjoyable. Service is attentive and client caring. Makes reservations. Definitely worth the fine dime.

Yelp
So the receptionist at the hotel i was staying in (Renaissance Wien Hotel) recommended this place. The way she described it was amazing so i jumped on the train and headed this way. So glad i did. I went with the steak and fries because i had not eaten most of the day, and a pint of the local beer. So so so good!! Well worth the trip. The food came out quick, the servers were attentive and the meal was delicious. I wanted to try a desert but i was so full after the steak i couldn't dinner. So i just sat back to enjoy the rest of my beer and talk with a few of the guests at the bar. One of the things i love about Europe is that nobody rushes you to get through your meals. You can actually sit back, relax and enjoy the environment with no pressure. The only reason i gave it 4 stars out of 5 is because they sat me at the bar when there were plenty of tables available. I didn't get it. I arrived at 530, almost every table at the restaurant was empty. (I guess i arrived early). There were about 5 tables with guests, and when i asked for a table the host said there were no tables available. I looked around in awe because i didn't understand. Apparently they were reserved. I wasn't about to leave because i literally jumped on a 20min train ride to get here and I'm glad i did. I didn't understand why i couldn't get a table because there was nobody here. Even now as i finish this review and more guest have arrived i can count 9 open tables. But that's ok. I had a great meal, the service was great and I met some new people. They made up for it on other ways. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Location: 5 stars Decoration/local: 5 stars Drinks menu: 5 stars Food menu: 5 stars Burger: 5 stars Service: lucky if its 2 stars. Uninterested servers, rude, obnoxious and slow. Therefore only 4 stars but only cause the burger was soon nice.

Yelp
Located next to hotel Le Meridian, this moderately lit, casual dining venue hosts folks grabbing a bite after dinner or a group having a drink and slice of house specialty cheesecake. The servers all spoke English and were pleasant, which was a nice surprise after staying in Berlin. I settled on the 200 gram filet, paired with bacon wrapped green beans, side salad, and glass of house red. Total bill was 32 euro after getting a slice of dulce de leche cheesecake (yup, all that for me, but I was told portions were small and plus I had walked over ten miles whilst touristing). The medium rare steak arrived with a lackluster sear and very undercooked. Thankfully I like rare meat. The flavor was great, and the finishing salt on the top really was a nice touch. I selected the blue cheese and herb sauces, and while both were good I felt the herb sauce was great, with freshness bursting through. Food aside, the layout and sitting, along with the reservations seemed weird and clunky. There were tons of open tables when I first walked in but was told no tables were free, even with the open tables (others were reserved). Then I was told they could make room for me and sat me at a reserved table? Weird. Getting in and out of several tables looks nearly impossible if you have people sitting alongside you on both sides. Everything considered the food was good and service pleasant so I'd be back.

Yelp
We were looking for food on a Saturday evening and came to this place, which was in a good location across from the Opera House. It wasn't too busy and we ended up sitting outside, which was a little annoying as everyone seemed to be smoking. I ordered the regular hamburger along with a beer. I also had a side of fries which were a little disappointing. I'm sure that there are better places to eat in Vienna.

Izzy Z.

Yelp
So I give it three stars. Here's why: 1. The place. Well I am not sure why they waste so much space; you could completely redesign it and get very comfortably at least three times the tables. Also, it seems to mix couches to sit at with long bar booth like tables, with a long fancy bar area, with little tables for two on the other side. Its completely confusing as to what the location actually wants to be. Fancy, but not fancy, chill hoodies but only in this section. I do have to say that our dark wood and matching chairs/booth area was very nice, and its one of the few places in Vienna where I did not think I was sitting on my neighbor's lap participating in his private conversation with his companion. However, it music was loud and the tables too wide so I had to lean over and shout a bit to speak to my friends. 2. The food Burgers between about 11 to 22 Euros, pulled pork, cheese burger, steak, surf and turf... and they will ask if you want your burger medium (pinkish) or well done. Pinkish was done nicely, but I have to say there lack a little luster... maybe I'm just too spoiled by Flachers and Charlie P's, but I guess this one can rank 3rd so far in Vienna. Also, you get one free side, fries, polenta sticks, a salad; original but the orders are small (I think I had 3 little polenta sticks bit over fried). But I mean if you eat a burger, unless you are huge you don't really need the extra. 3. Drinks: Lots of Gin options, some beer options, some wine options (anything but gin is limited). Cocktail prices for the gin (I think around 8 to 11 Euros), let's say a medium glass. We went for cocktails after at another location. 4. Bathroom: Clean but gees again, I had to jump up and down to get the last little drop of soap. 5. Service Well, they make sure you never feel lonely. Do you want another drink? How about now? And now. yes here's your bill. And by the way, why did they say the only reservation left was at 17:00? We say it pretty empty most of the time we were there (until about 20:00). And... apparently if you are less than 4 people, they kick you out after 2 hours... or so I heard. Did not happen to us, probably because it was empty. Overall: if you are around, and you are like "well dude let's just grab a burger here", go for it.

Yelp
After having eaten the bacon cheeseburger, I'm trying to move my fingers and write with great difficulty. The burger was delicious, strong enough to put you in a food coma! Hehe! The staff was friendly but also very stressed out! I hadn't finished my burger yet and a waiter came and grabbed my plate to take it away and I was like "excuse me, I'm not done yet"! The prices are on the expensive side and he thinks he can take my last three bites away? Hell no! Warning, the interior decoration of this place cannot be described as vegan friendly, even though they offer vegan burgers on the menu, I can't imagine that a vegan would feel comfortable in place that resembles a butcher's shop with hooks hanging from the ceiling and an entrance like a freezer room. Generally I found this place to be pretty average to be honest, I personally prefer to eat at a place where I can chill out afterwards, "the butcher said to the cow" is not such a place for me. It all felt very rushed and we had to leave after an hour with heavy stomachs and barely able to walk... If you're looking for a quick bite go for it, this might be the place for you! Or maybe don't go on a Saturday like we did and it could all be more relaxed...

Yelp
Stopped here after looking for a decent place to eat that serves burgers. Thought the name would mean that they made a decent one. I wasn't wrong. First of all though I was greeted by a cheerful waiter who made me feel very welcome, despite being by myself. I chose a table in the outdoor area which was a nice place to sit and watch Venice go by. My order was taken quickly - fairly easy as was only wanting a burger and beer. As I waited I was able to see and listen to other diners, anost of which of which seemed to be regulars here as the waiter was on a first name basis with them. The burger arrived accompanied by chips and onion rings. The burger itself was very very good. Very juicy (it actually made the bun start to fall apart but this was fine by me), cooked and seasoned to perfection. The chips were the same - hot, crunchy ok the outside and nice and soft in the middle. The onion rings, well they were some of the best I've ever had. Took me about 20 minutes to eat the whole lot as I didn't want to finish. The beer that I ordered was good too - can't say too much about it as it was a well known brand poured from the keg but was cold and crisp. Would defiantly recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a great burger. May visit again in the very near future.

Yelp
I was very excited about eating here and I was sure that it will be an experience which deserves a 5 star review, however: -I LOVED the interior, but we had a large group (around 20) and we had to split up and sit at two different tables) -I LIKED my medium-rare cheeseburger and I thought it would be perfect, if it wasn't so dry -I DIDN'T LIKE my steak fries because I just thought that they were not really done -I DIDN'T LIKE their waiters, as handsome as they were, a smile or a friendly attitude wouldn't be bad now and then -I was still hungry after eating the burger -I found my caramel cheesecake WEIRD; I loved it while I ate it and I even finished my friend's cake as well, because she thought it was terrible, but it had a weird aftertaste. a bit dry or tasteless, I cannot really describe it. Also, I starting feeling very sick around 10-15min after eating and my tummy seemed really mad about what I had done to it, but then again, I don't want to blame the burger, because I actually enjoyed it. Therefore I won't take a star away just because of this - I mean, I had a burger, steak fries AND 1,5 caramel cheesecake, what did I expect? :)

Yelp
Said the butcher to the cow attempts to serve great food, but in all honesty I feel the burger is average. The best thing about the restaurant in my opinion are the different Gins and Tonic Waters. The waiters are really friendly, the drinks are excellent, but I don't think coming here for the burgers is a must.

Yelp
Great place for burgers, buutttt that all depends on what you want. Meat is great when referring to beef patties. Pork patty was bland and not supposed to be raw like we received. Steak is great, but Flatchers is better (Filet). Ambiance is great, especially when you throw a long list of pricey G&T's, yum. Bottom line is there are pros and cons to this place. It has become much more cramped with tables too close to one another. But atmosphere makes this OK. Great for groups if you can make a reservation. Burger comparison in my spreadsheet! Coming soon. Great decor and location.

Yelp
The food was good once they brought us the right dishes after the waiter put in the wrong order. Abysmal service and no one checked on us and we had to track down someone to pay our bill after 30 mins of sitting with cleared plates and waiting to order dessert in a nearly empty restaurant. We gave up and left without dessert. So two stars are for the taste of the food but truly terrible service.

Yelp
Lookin for food after your evening drinks? This kitchen is open till late; we arrived at 23h, the place was full and kitchen definitely open. No need for a reservation at that hour. As Said the Butcher to the Cow (maybe the acronym SBC suits better) has a good variety of drinks on offer its easy to stick around after dinner. I must admit only having tried the burgers and side dishes, but these were definitely worth it (surf and turf as well as regular cheese burger are to be recommended!). The fried polenta as a side was too dry. However, unless you are really hungry, the burger would fill you up sufficiently. Would come back for some good beef and to try their G&T's!

Jonathon A.

Yelp
They need to change their hours of operations because everytime I come to this establishment they are closed or the kitchen does not serve food anymore!

Caitlin F.

Yelp
Excellent gin and tonics!! I ate a burger and was quite satisfied. The atmosphere is really comfortable, and the staff were all lovely. I made a return trip which was just as great! One star docked for price - but it really wasn't bad, I'm just fussy.

Karen K.

Yelp
the burger was nice and I like the experimental gin/tonic versions, however they need to improve their staff. the hostess was not very friendly or polite at all I'm sorry to say. the server was quick and a bit friendlier, but if overall good service is a top priority, this place can be a deal breaker. also, the tables for two are much too small to dine, fine if you only have drinks. overall a decent place, but neither the food nor the place itself knocked me off my socks.

Hannes H.

Yelp
The restaurant is located directly at the ring across the state opera. The decor is very nice and has a bit of trendy flair to it. The crowed might seem a bit too hip some times, but hey it's nice for people watching. We were a larger group and had all different burgers. The burger were really nice, try the chilli burger if you like spicy. The side dishes were a bit mixed. The fries were ok, but the polenta sticks were really dry. Also the sauce that came with polenta sticks seemed out of place. For the drinks, they offer a limited selection of beers, would be nice to have some more exotic brews matching the burgers. They do have a large selection of Gin, so if this your type of liquor you will be happy there. 4 stars because of the really good burger, sides and beer list disappoints.

Mary Jane S.

Yelp
Stopped in for a glass of wine. Great young hip vibe! Reminded me of the gastropubs back home in the US. Didn't try the food but it looked very good;)

Grant M.

Yelp
Horrible service. Almost walked out. Took a lot of effort to pay our bill. In hindsight I really should've walked out, but I didnt want to be that guy.

Kara B.

Yelp
Delicious carpaccio and bacon cheeseburger, cooked to medium perfection. The gin menu is impressive and there's cheesecake to boot. Also the French fries are so good sauce isn't a necessity but the garlic sauce is delicious.

Corinne M.

Yelp
I'm with Izzy Z on this one folks! Super friendly and observant service, but what's with the setup and reservation issues? We couldn't make a reservation on a Friday night, but we could "come now and get a table". We arrived around 6 and the place did not fill up even by 7:30 when we left. The menu is smaller than I expected for a place that has a reputation for meat. I was disappointed with the topping options for the burgers and even more disappointed when the burger was served. Served very fast, which means it probably wasn't freshly cooked (and I ordered well done for a change, while my friend ordered medium). I am willing to wait for a fresh burger. The steak fries were nothing to write home about and my friend warned me not to try the cheesecake since she had and it is topfen cake, not New York style cheesecake as you think it would be. Lots of hype surrounding this place. Great location though and maybe I would go back just to hang out for drinks.

Jill T.

Yelp
Really, really good burgers. If you want a good burger in Wien, this is the place to go. It was a little pricey but well worth the money. The gin was very good, and they're famous for it, definitely would give it a shot.

Nathaniel T.

Yelp
I absolutely loved this restaurant. Great management and staff. The food and drinks are good too! It's an easy order if you only speak English.

Christoph K.

Yelp
Service was great - the burger just... well ordered medium rare and got it well done. Boring taste. The homemade ketchup and fries were slightly better. The cheesecake is better for construction than human consumption.
