The location of this beautiful older inn is fantastic! While our room was clean and did the trick, bath mats, pillows and linens in general do need to be updated including requesting tips for the house cleaner.
The nightly price vs what you get at this location should more than cover wages and bonuses (nightly prices noted for off season below.)
We paid $165 for our standard Queen room, we originally had a second night in the superior queen booked at $205 but cut our time in Lunenburg short. This Inn is listed as a B&B, however it is not a B&B, the name should just be “Sail Inn”. I called a couple times to ask basic questions such as “I want to confirm there is a fridge, as per your listing” and “we are stuck in traffic is it okay if we check in after 6” there is a language barrier with the person who answers the phone and it was extremely difficult to get basic questions answered.
Furthermore, this small town and the surrounding area in general is land of the Ocean. Upon arrival we saw a note in our room advising the housekeeper has a shell fish allergy and it is not permitted in the Inn… this is quite difficult as this is a fishing town and primarily serves shellfish, the restaurant directly across the street is an oyster bar.
To sum up, there is no breakfast at this advertised “bed and breakfast” there is a request in the room to support local restaurants, but notes around the property to ensure shellfish is not on the premises… it is unfair to the guest to ask to support local, but not to allow shellfish in the establishment, then ask for tips.
The location is great but there are many great places to stay in town, that are of similar pricing. Would recommend choosing another location to spend your money.
