Saint 1881 Coffee & Cocktail Bar

My friends and I stopped by for pre-dinner drinks before a reservation elsewhere, and we were so impressed! The vibe was incredible and the drinks were absolutely fabulous. We’ll definitely be back soon to dive deeper into the food menu!

We had our engagement party/brunch here yesterday and it was perfect. The building itself is very pretty and cozy, the food was outstanding and the service was even better. They set our tables up to accommodate our large party and our waitress, I believe her name was Emma, was very kind and attentive! I had the tiramisu pancakes and of course an espresso martini. 10/10!

Saint 1881 is truly a gem in the heart of downtown Rochester. Wednesdays are a dream for ladies’ night, with the perfect chill vibe and a great DJ. Fridays bring an energy you don’t want to miss — the ideal spot to spend your evening. And throughout the week, it’s a beautiful place for anyone looking to enjoy a lovely drink or cocktail, a wonderful dinner, and the stunning atmosphere of the patio and outdoor view. Every visit feels special here, and I genuinely and highly recommend experiencing it for yourself.

The food is always great here as well as the atmosphere! The vibe is great and the scenery is beautiful! The food is also amazing. The Parmesan French fries and Greek salad taste delicious! I also got a strawberry spritz and it tasted real good!

This place is my go to spot in Rochester! Beautiful decor, great small plates, and the staff are always so kind and helpful navigating the menu! Recommend mostly as a cocktail bar (the pistachio espresso martini is my favorite!) with food rather than solely a dinner spot but we usually split 3 or 4 plates for 3 people and are full! On the pricier side, but it is a nice cocktail bar in downtown Rochester, so keep this in mind and you won’t be disappointed!

The ambiance of this place is unmatched. It feels like a small restaurant in a hallmark film for Christmas. The staff are accommodating, professional, and friendly. The bathrooms are up to date and very clean. The coffee was phenomenal and all the food was fantastic. The Ricotta orange pancakes, apple French toast, sandwiches and breakfast burrito were fabulous. The prices were jot cheap but fairly comperable with most cocktails, coffee, and food prices in the area. Highly recommend!

Located within an 1881 church, Saint 1881 brings well made cocktails and small plates to the heart of downtown Rochester in a unique, modern setting. We visited on a Thursday post-dinner, and it wasn't super busy. The service was pleasant, helpful, and very attentive, while not imposing. Cocktails were fab: of course we tried the spicy margarita, which is made with pineapple but can ask for it without. We also made an off-menu request, essentially a spicy grapefruit margarita, which was cheerfully made without hesitation. The charcuterie board was likely one of the best charcuterie boards I've had: the meats and accompanying accoutrements, from dates and candied pecans, to pickles, pickled capers, and marmalade we're outstanding. I would have liked a bit more variety on the cheese, but overall it was a nice addition to our cocktails. Other reviews have shared that the prices are high - however, for the cocktails I found them comparable to other types of upscale cocktail bars and restaurants in Rochester at ~$16 per cocktail. The small plates can definitely add up, though. We really enjoyed our visit to Saint 1881. Will have to come back and try some of their espresso cocktails too.

I had a $50 lunch that was inedible. I came in STARVING but the tuna on the salad was so bad I lost my appetite altogether. I informed the server, who was very nice, but she told me the owner would not refund food - even after the server confirmed the tuna was bad. The sweet server bought me a chocolate croissant. Nice, but it was a $50 lunch. Will not return.

This place is beautiful. The outdoor furniture is so peaceful and comfortable. The inside decor is amazing. I got a vanilla, caramel latte. I asked for it to be sweet but it wasn't. The coffee had a weird, strong aftertaste. Definitely won't get that again but I would love to come back and eat and try some other drinks. The customer service was good too. The lady that made my drink was super sweet. We had small talk, she was great. I wouldn't mind having her again next time I come.

Beautiful, but pretentious and expensive. No plant based options, so we only ordered drinks at the bar. The setting is beautifully designed, but you get attitude included in your expensive fair. This is Rochester not Birmingham. Service took forever even though we sat early afternoon at the bar. No one checked on us after we received our drinks and we had to flag a bartender for the bill when we were finished. Parking in Rochester is all paid now, but plentiful. Many people love this place, but I can't find a reason to go back.

Saint 1881 is one of my favorite cocktail and coffee bars in Metro Detroit. Their drinks are beautiful and tasty. The decor and design is classy and elegant but with a hint of modern mixed into it as well. Drinks are a little on the pricier side but you can't go wrong with any of the drinks and during the day I love to stop by and grab a coffee!

Bottom line: you're paying for ambiance and aesthetic. Let's just call it what it is. Nothing wrong with it, I love a clean aesthetic but just know that going in. While I think Rochester was long overdue for a cutesy little place like this, it's unfortunate that the quality of the menu doesn't match the expectations or price point. While I did really enjoy my mocktail and my friends enjoyed their drinks, they said the Brussels were heavenly, and the aesthetic was photo worthy- it was loud and gets louder as the evening goes on if you're inside. The outside patio seemed calmer and looked nice but it's limited seating, so we were sat inside. The bathrooms were atrocious for 6pm on a weekday. No toilet paper, mainly because it was all on the floor, and the stalls looked like they had been ransacked. When I mentioned it to the staff nearby to let them know (I know how it goes on a busy night, you can't be everywhere) but it seemed like I was just annoying them by interrupting their group huddle chit chat. Our group left promptly after and don't think we'll be returning. When I learned it was owned and managed by the same group as RBH, it all kind of made sense as I never had a great experience there either. Go for the vibes and not much else and you'll probably have a great time but don't expect a better more elevated experience because of the look or price tag. It's a cool building with local history, it made for an okay girls night but isn't my new favorite go-to spot by any means.

If you give this place a bad review you're absolutely crazy and have no taste. My waitress was attentive and amazing. My food was AMAZING! Flavorful and cooked perfectly. The establishment is beautiful. Great for date night or girls night out. I loved it and will certainly be back frequently!

Not what I expected, but on the other hand, exactly what I expected. SUPER fancy and really cool interior. The drink list was very pricey and no beer on the menu, but they do have a few. I got a cosmo which was good, it tasted exactly like a lemon drop shot but there was nothing special about it, not worth the $15 unfortunately. The drink was very small and not "showy" looking. The service wasn't bad, but I expected better from a place so nice. I might go back for coffee or a very special occasion.

These guys are delusional if they think they will last ...... ..... my wife and her friend ordered drinks and both were crap (diluted and no flavors as the fancy description suggested) and they would not change them .......for the type of fancy ass place they portray and prices they charge ($18 drinks... go figure!) they are a total disappointment ! The chorizo was some cheap deli or grocery store bought meat ....Enough said on the food and quality. Beware!

Originally we came here to have drinks and to eat, the service was not the best and the waiter never came back around to ask us if we wanted food, once he did it was too late and the kitchen was closed. He told us all we can get is cold food or dessert so we had a burrata and crepe cake. Wished we had dinner as planned.

This place was so cute! It was crowded, but I loved how hard they worked to get people in and out. There's a standard menu and then there's a featured cocktail list with lots of seasonal drinks to try. We ordered dessert but I would definitely go back to try the delicious looking charcuterie board or brussels sprouts. The service was great, and I loved the atmosphere.

I have to start off by saying this is an $18 a drink venue, so one drink for me and I'm done. The drinks we had were excellent! Staff is wonderful atmosphere is wonderful. I didn't look at the menu but I heard that it is expensive small plates. So I went to see what's it's about. Will be back if someone is paying the bill or I win the lotto.

We were coming out of the Rochester brunch house when I barely spotted the word "cocktail" on this new bar/coffee House. I was pleasantly surprised with what a cute- updated look it had. I can't remember what it was before, but it looks like it may have been a church. We had the Cosmopolitan, which were excellent, staff was not overly friendly, but it's a new bar and they're probably just finding their way still. One more thing - I couldn't figure out how to lock the bathroom door. lol It wasn't just me because my friend went after me and she couldn't lock it either. We will be back. Seems like a great place just to stop in for cocktail.

While Saint 1881 offers a somewhat ~vibey~ environment, I'm unlikely to return. The waitress was lovely and attentive. Offered explanations and seemed to care about her tables. I ordered an espresso martini and learned I'm just not an espresso girl. My friend absolutely loved it, so I imagine it is a good cocktail if that's your thing. However, the biscotti cake was very tasty! Moist cake, smooth and creamy mousse, and cutesy presentation. Enough to split for 2, but you could definitely just eat it on your own too ;) My issues lie with the ambiance and set up of the bar. Firstly, it is beyond loud. I could barely hear my friend sitting across from me. The noise just echoes and travels creating a cacophony of chaos. Then, at the entrance, there is no where for the people coming in to go or stand aside from on top of the tables seated near the door. Which is really uncomfortable being watched and crowded around by the waiting guests. The host stand is up a few stairs past the initial tables by the door, so people are then also crowding the stairs and also the only path for the servers to reach their tables. The amount of times someone walked in front of a server carrying a tray of drinks is countless. The tables on the "main" floor are crowded close together to fit in as many as possible, making the pathway behind the guests seated at the bar and the guests seated at tables, extremely narrow. Especially when there are people standing behind the guests seated at the bar. This should not be allowed. This is the only route to their bathrooms and kitchen as well making it a primary walk way. The bathroom was clean enough but toilet paper was scarce, the lock on the door didn't work, there is no indication of which stall is occupied, and again- it's so loud you cannot hear a thing when knocking. One thing I wanted to note, the tables at the front are half booth and half chairs and they seat multiple parties next to each other. I did not feel the group of girls next to us were too close when sitting but they were close enough that their squealing, shouting over each other, and flash photography definitely interrupted our evening. When holding the phone out for a selfie, one of the girls hands was definitely in my personal space. The group was overall rather obnoxious and while this is not the doing of the establishment, it is worth noting since you never know who you will be seated next to and this could easily happen to other groups as well. Learning Saint 1881 and Rochester Brunch House are owned/operated under the same owner was everything I needed to know. While I do not foresee myself returning, I am at least glad I tried Saint 1881 to form my own opinion.

Was expecting much more for the prices and amount of people. The drinks were simple (Manhattan and a Paloma) yet they took forever. They were filled with crushed ice, no other options that night at least. Very basic, the same quality as local sports bar, yet we spent almost $50! The place is interesting since a converted old church, but it oozes shallow pretension with all the marble and white washing decor, not to mention the corny, thin, hand-script logo, It feels like a "girls weekend" in Rochester Hills, lot's of cackling and sparkly silver jammed into a smallish space. Some people obviously love this sort of place, especially before heading across the street to the Tylor Swift dance party at the Roxy. I'm not one of them..

We needed our date here and what a way to end a date! Magnificent, the atmosphere is beautiful! We sat outdoors but it was still nice out and calm, and the weather was perfect! We only had coffees and dessert but they were really good and the waitress was super sweet! The coffee was decorated with designs and the desserts were big sizes so honestly you can share one of you want to! Love it and would go back again to try their cocktails

This place was very cute! Drinks were ok but very expensive for what they are. Service was okay too. I recommend sitting outside if you come here!

The food and drinks here are pricey yes. You get high quality food and drinks, know that going in. We have been here twice now, summer and fall. They first opened in the summer and it was busy and loud inside so we sat outside. Our fall visit was much less busy and the interior was much more inviting. Bother times we visited, the food, drinks, presentation and service was amazing.

Good food but the prices are way too high for what you get. When they say small plates, they do mean SMALL plates lol you'll be spending about $20-$32 for each item and it's barely enough to share. I found everything to be good, but not great. The pasta was undercooked and lacking flavor, my latte was served lukewarm at best, everything else was decent but not good enough to justify price or make me want to come back.

The cocktails here are really nice and unique. I love the creativity. Also the place is very pleasant and cute.

Ok, the word that comes to mind is...stylish. All about this place says, it's chic. Food menu rightfully minimalist. Few very wisely selected appetizers. Few carefully chosen drinks. Yes, outstanding service. All the customers I've noticed have some standards. Bring a date here.

Had to meet one of my company's high ranking executive for a drink. He is from the Rochester area so he said let's stay in that general vicinity. I heard of Saint 1881 had recently opened and wanted to try it out, so I suggested it to him and he agreed. The ambiance is very casual but with a hint of sophistication. The lighting was low but somehow still illuminated the place. We each had a few drinks, I had a Smoked Old Fashion, which was very good. We also had a few appetizers, which were spot on: Charcuterie board, steak tips, and vegetable plate. If you're looking for a great place to just hang out for a couple hours, I highly recommend Saint 1881. Oh I almost forgot, the waitress was very friendly and wasn't overly bothersome. Which is always a plus! Good luck with your business and keep up the great work!

The aesthetics of this place are awesome!! It's so trendy, fresh, and clean! The staff is extremely friendly and attentive! The drinks are AMAZING! So refreshing, and definitely don't skimp on the alcohol! The prices are a bit much. I feel like they're Birmingham prices, and for what you get it's not all that worth it! I love the small plates ideas. Such a good place to park yourself, listen to GREAT music (props to Saint 1881), and drink some refreshing cocktails! I would swap out some of these shareables for different ones! I feel like they could create a really good menu with a little more oomph. Their burrata tasted like an olive salsa with cheese on it which was unexpected. Their crudo wasn't served on a rice chip which was also unexpected, but a nice change up! Overall, this was a great first try and we'll probably be back in the near future for more!

So happy to have a place like this! Such a good spot for cocktails, appetizers, and small plates to share! It's stunning inside and out. Great place for photos, birthdays, special events, or a drink out with friends. Love the ambience and the service here. It is a little pricey for the food but it's okay if you are splitting with a few people. Will definitely come back!

Hot new spot to the Rochester scene! The space is beautiful from the decor to the drinks! Sparkling Chandeliers make a statement, classy! Great spot for specialty crafted cocktails. They have a limited menu with small plates and a few desserts. If you plan on visiting, this is most certainly a cocktail place; plan on another spot for dinner. The Strawberry crêpe.cake was delicious, but the price point $15 was a bit excessive for the dessert and the steak tips were tasty, but for $26 did not hit the mark. Overall, beautiful space, go for the cocktails!

The servers were so lovely & kind. They had genuine smiles on their faces & very polite. The food was delicious with unique flavor. I love the small plates & drinks available. They do offer mock tails. Many people do not drink alcohol and this is a perfect chance to still enjoy with a group! Ambiance was great. The decor and design was beautiful. Bathroom is unique there are 3 stalls closed doors and you walk out into public sinks.

Saint 1881 opened on May 5, 2023. I finally had the chance to visit last night (5/20/23)! But I would never go back to this place ever again. When we arrived, everyone was randomly standing around and we didn't know where to check-in. Once someone approached us to take our number to be on waitlist, the host had trouble listening to the phone number given - either she was not competent or the restaurant really should dial down the loudness inside. The host said we could walk around and they'll give us a text. But I had saw open tables. We literally walked back outside and got a text that our table was ready. We then ordered. Our waitress was not competent either. We literally ordered a total of 3 items and she could not remember the order even though she was maybe trying to write it down? But then again, the inside of the restaurant was loud, you weren't even able to have a proper conversation and hear the person even when they are right next to you. Food wise, I was also very disappointed. Since it is a cocktail bar, I ordered the Jasmine Paloma. It was the WORST cocktail I have gotten in my life. We also got market pasta. I would say for the portion and price of that small plate, it was not worth the $24. The pasta was not cooked al dente like how it should be. And we'll, lavender tea is just tea so not much to comment about that.

Just walking up to it I could tell i was going to like the place. The staff was on point and friendly from the moment we walked in. We had dessert and drinks, both were made to perfection. Can't say enough positive things about the atmosphere and decor, looked amazing. Overall 10/10, highly recommend.

Such a great edition to downtown Rochester. Sometimes you just want a nice place to grab a drink that isn't a full blown restaurant but isn't a dive bar either. The patio is a great spot to enjoy those warm summer evenings. As far as cocktails go they have a nice variety of options. I hate it when a place is heavily focused on one type of alcohol. They also have some nice wines to chose from if that's your thing. They do offer light bites including a charcuterie board if you do get hungry. We ordered a few cocktails including the espresso martini which my husband ordered. Not the best one I've ever had but still pretty good in my opinion. They had a few specials going on so I tried the white sangria which was also really good. I also tried the cosmo which was delicious, not overly sweet. We ordered the tuna tartare for a light bite, it was ok. I probably would pass on that next time. The service here was great both times we've visited, our waitress was very sweet and attentive and all the bartenders were very friendly the first time we were here. All in all a great place to go if you want good drinks and a nice ambiance.

We came here for birthday drinks prior to my surprise party. This was the perfect place to distract me! I had been wanting to come here since they opened. We got here right as they opened. I absolutely loved the ambiance here! Totally my jam! I am not sure what this building was used for prior to being made into a cocktail bar, but they did a perfect job decorating. Huge chandeliers cover the ceiling and the simple elegance of the bar area was the perfect touch! The inside is quaint. Not all that big. There is a huge outdoor porch that you can also sit on so that's a great touch in the summer months! This may be one of the only places where I would say they actually have enough servers! They were on their game!! Very quick and friendly, but they make sure to provide all of the perfect finishing touches to their hand crafted cocktails. They only have small plates, so this is not somewhere to go to eat. We split the filet tips and pasta. One thing you also want to keep in mind, is that this place is expensive. Expect to pay $20 per cocktail and $40 for a small plate. We dropped $200 before heading over for the surprise! I will absolutely be back!! I loved every part of this place.

I was excited to try this place after seeing it on Instagram, it's the same owners as RBH. The ambiance is really cute, especially for a GNO, and they have a nice patio. I don't recommend it for a date night because it's too loud and you can't really talk, unless you're yelling. The drink options were good and the food menu was small, but sufficient. I ordered the St. Lavender and it was really good and well balanced, but I've heard the drinks are inconsistent. Service was good for how busy they were, the waitress was sweet and they were accommodating. They made a vegan St. Lavender for my friend with no issues. My friend and I also got the pear salad, burrata tartine, and pasta. For the prices they're charging, you'd expect the flavors to be well balanced. The pear salad was horrible, all you tasted was dijon mustard (the menu said pecorino vinaigrette, which is inaccurate). We did not finish it. The burrata was not like a traditional burrata and just didn't look appetizing at all so I didn't even try it. My friend only took a couple bites. The pasta was pretty good, but the portion was tiny. None of the food flavors were balanced. It was also extremely disappointing that most desserts were unavailable on a Friday night around 9pm. Therefore, we didn't get dessert. Other reviewers are right about this place being extremely overpriced. The reason being that the attention to quality is not there. If all the drinks and dishes were well balanced, then they could definitely charge that much. Most of the dishes we ordered were horrible and we didn't finish them. IMO they should just focus on drinks and dessert until they can be consistent and offer the full, limited, menu. I probably won't be back, there are much better places for drinks. I'm sure they'll do fine considering how packed it was.

Beautiful place-loved the vibe and ambiance-great playlist too! But the drinks were just good enough-overpriced for sure. Would be great if they had a happy hour with specials-we'd go back for that!

Do you know when your first visit to a new place starts out really good, and you're excited that you might have found the next great spot! That was my experience at Saint 1881 - until it wasn't... Came in after work with a coworker, sat at the bar, was greeted by a very enthusiastic, wonderful bartender... started with drinks and a few small plates and things were great... As the evening rolled on, the crowd changed - quickly! Turning into almost a nightclub vibe... Large crowds of girls dressed in their finest tube tops and stilettos, and guys in Versace shirts... Things god very very loud, the service declined very quickly, they were clearly in the weeds and didn't know what to do... also, everyone working there was probably under 30. We ordered two final drinks and dessert... The desert came, drinks never showed... But we're on the bill... when we told the bartender we barely got an apology but, they did take it off our bill - which was $325... LOL!!! Seriously!! Gave it a valiant effort, probably won't ever go back... Not my crowd... Really disappointing... Cute spot, Gross crowd, hilariously over priced... $32 for a charcuterie board with four slices of salami, some cheese four dried apricots, and some walnuts... Go to Kabin Kruisers...

We had high hopes for this place. In the past we had really good service, drinks and food. But things have changed and ego is now their problem. We were told a 15-20 min wait. We watched as they took three groups ahead of us for the tables they kept telling us were being cleared for us. Apparently we weren't "family" enough. The owners friends kept taking whatever tables they wanted ahead of other patrons and he just turned a blind eye. Keep it up and you will drive away all of the actual paying customers.

Visit this old church house and ask for Joan, JoJo is the Bee's knees. She was an awesome server. Her energy was great. She made suggestions for things to do when we left. And all of her food and drink suggestions, we "thee" Best!!! Everything was good. Chandeliers, muah, beautiful.

It's ok. The concept is great but it's a little quirky but not in a good way. Very small but expensive menu. Drinks are just average. This could be a great place but sadly it's not yet.

My fiancé and I came to Saint 1881 around 930/10 pm for a cocktail after eating elsewhere, we did not have a reservation and were sat on the beautiful patio. Both of our drinks were great! The only complaint I have is the service, our waiter approached us at least 5 times asking if we were ordering anything else even when we had half more of our drinks to finish. Ambiance was nice except for our conversations being interrupted.

Love love love the ambiance! Amazing small plates. Just had the burrata with caponata - Delicious! The staff is so helpful and hard working. We will be back!

Overpriced drinks and overpriced mediocre food. Biggest issue we had is before you've even finished your expensive drink, they're rushing you out the door. The Waiter even asked us to leave when we went here for a nightcap because apparently they keep time for how long you stay. Beware!!

I really was excited about this place but it totally let me down. My short review would be go for the drinks, eat somewhere else. The place itself is beautiful and I appreciate that they use nice glassware. It makes having a cocktail or glass of wine feel lovely and leveled up. The food was simply not good. Not even average, below average. We ordered every dish on the menu but the potatoes and were not impressed by any. Do not come here for great food. They also automatically added 20% tip. We didn't see it and ended up tipping another 20%. Realizing that felt annoying. Sure some people might add another 20% but clearly we had missed it and the waitress didn't point it out to us. She was sweet, but the whole dinner felt like a big miss. I won't go back, and I wouldn't recommend it, but hey, you do you.

I finally made it to Saint 1881. I had been eyeing it in anticipation since it opened. I have very mixed feelings about my overall experience. Upon arrival, I looooveed the feel of the outside of the local. They have a cute little patio that wraps around from the front to the side. We decided to sit indoors. I also loved the ambiance inside. The decor is classy and simplistic with pretty chandeliers. Watch your step when you walk out the front door. I almost tripped. It got a bit loud and hard to hear at some points throughout my time there. Our waitress Gigi was wonderful as was the young man with her that was helping her. Very on top of it. I had the Viva & my friend had the Cosmo. Both were delish. The Viva didn't taste as strong as the Cosmo so there's that. We also decide to share the filet tips and pear salad. I really loved the pear salad. The dressing had a horseradish kick to it, and with the mix of pear, dried cherries, candied pecans, pickled red onion and cheese, it delightfully tickled my palate. I'd get it again. The filet tips were honestly nothing special and definitely not worth $26. My first bite was a tough piece and you only get 6 pieces and 3 pieces of little breads. I wasn't even asked how I wanted them prepared, but I think some of it was over cooked. Even so, honestly enjoyed mostly everything, and will return. When I return, I plan to try something new (and maybe also have the pear salad again). Although, I will say it felt quite a bit overpriced for what you are getting. I understand these are small bites, but a small salad for $18 and mediocre filet tips for $26 ,doesn't make sense to me. This isn't Dallas, Austin, New York or Cali. I understand inflation happened, but I feel that the prices will hurt this place's turnout with time. It's new now and everyone's curious, so they are going to check it out, but I HOPE people will return because I loooove cute, unique places like this. I am all about it and we need more of them in the metro Detroit burbs.

Service was great - food was meh for the price. Best dish was the pasta which came out cold maybe even microwaved and very tiny for the price. The place is beautiful and staff is great which is the reason they are getting 3 stars. Please please dont call the meat 'filet' when it is definitely not a filet cut, any steak eater would know that - tough and chewy. Overall, probably wouldn't come back as a regular, but nice to try one time probably wont be back.

Best cosmo I ever had. Drinks are worth the price. Gorgeous place perfect for a ladies night. Will be back!

Honestly the drinks were great the vibes were great we had a great time. You don't feel rushed you can take your time and enjoy your time w friends! The desserts were very below average but the vibes and drinks make up for it! A bit pricy but makes sense for how nice it in inside and out! Would definitely go back

I am disappointed to have to write this review, as Saint 1881 is a beautiful space with an energetic vibe. Due to an unfortunate situation and management response, I will never support this business. A few friends visited the bar, and I met them there before we headed to our dinner reservation. The girls had finished their drinks as I came in, and we went to leave together. We had never been to this bar before, so we weren't totally sure which way to go, but we went through the back toward Main St. Down a set of 4 stairs, there was an open door with an employee standing at the bottom. We assumed we would go out through that door, so I started down the stairs and immediately slid down all 4 steps. The stairs were completely soaked with one wet floor sign at the bottom of the stairs. I was very flustered (and semi embarrassed), and quickly realized my phone screen had shattered from being in my back pocket. Later on, I would find my arm scraped up and my back bruised. The employee asked if I was okay and then the manager came over. She asked if I was okay, and then things went downhill. I said the stairs are completely wet and my phone is ruined. Her response was that this was an employee area that we weren't supposed to be in. I said that there wasn't any signage to indicate that and that the stairs were a dangerous condition. The manager immediately switched her attitude to defense and essentially blamed me for being in an area that we shouldn't have been in, despite lack of signage. We went back and forth over the details, and then she claimed we were causing a scene. I was very upset at this point, not because of the incident, but truly because of how the manager treated me. There was no care, concern, offer of ice or anything, and instead held true disdain for a customer in her restaurant. I have 10 years of restaurant experience, and my husband was a restaurant manager for 13 years. This woman absolutely should not be running a business, and I am appalled that this occurred. While the restaurant is beautiful in decor, it is despicable in management.
