Saint Benedict Convent

I stayed at the Hotel Convento de San Benito while walking the Camino Portuguese in September 2025. What an absolutely fabulous hotel! My room was lovely with a great window that opened to the courtyard. The hotel has amazing charm and character and the location is perfect. The staff was very helpful from check-in to check-out. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay in A Guarda.

This is such a beautiful hotel, converted from a 1500's convent. Everything is done with perfection. There are still old statues and relics from the olden days. The room was beautiful and huge. The staff is super friendly. The night we were there, the city had its local Formula 1 racing :)). It was so cute. The breakfast was AMAZING. Beautiful location, right in the center of town. Great location on the Camino Portuguese.

A place you cannot forget! A beautifully renovated convent with exquisite rooms and lounging areas to boot! Service was outstanding. We were escorted to our room by the very nice and friendly front desk person. Wine and cookies awaited us in a lovely lounge area of the hotel. Very comfortable accomodations.

An amazing building full of history, beautifully restored. Staff were great, we appreciated the port and biscuits. Lovely room, beautiful town, great breakfast all geared up for Pilgrims on the camino.

It feels like you are walking through a museum, with hand-written books and statues on display. The rooms are comfortable and the breakfast is varied. Beautiful accommodation.

What a fantastic hotel. This is a hidden gem. We just came and booked it. For me personally the services were on high note. The cozy room, bathroom with jacuzzi and the old medieval ambience with stare of the art interior makes it more luxury. We enjoyed the stay. The best beautiful beach is just 50 meters walk where my children played well. We had a good dinner in the neighbourhood and a fantastic breakfast in the hotel. The staff was super friendly.

An awesome experience in a great property near the ocean. Loved moments spent on our balcony. Breakfast had lots of variety.

We loved our stay here! Absolutely gorgeous and the staff were very kind and helpful. We stayed here as part of our Camino and would recommend to others! This was a bit of a splurge for the two of us ($110 USD/night) but was well worth it. Very comfortable beds, quiet, clean, and culturally significant!
