Google
fantastic location, excellent and friendly staff, relaxing pool area for a swim in between sightseeing. room was clean, bed was comfortable and all together for Paris standards spacious and well equipped. negative: the room is quite dark (I didn't mind, I'd rather have a dark room than noisy street) and the walls are very thin. you can hear people walking down the hall, talking in other rooms etc. nonetheless I'd book again!

Amazing hotel! We loved every second of it! I celebrated my birthday while travelling so we spoilt ourselves for a few days. The service was perfect and the room was stunning. The bar/restaurant was great and your really get value for money with the amazing food. We were always so full! Highly recommend!

Google
The hotel is across the street from the Louvre! Easy walk to a lot of places. I didn't rate the welcome because we arrived as part of a large group, which is always difficult for everyone. We liked our room, but several of the electric plugs did not work, and a repair person was not able to fix that. The staff was friendly and helpful, and our room was very clean. We enjoyed beautiful two-story windows that opened onto one of two squares inside the hotel property. Our king bed was comfy and the room had two bathrooms. One upstairs in the sitting room, and the other downstairs in the bedroom. The breakfast buffet was good, and included a cappuccino machine. If you ask for 'American coffee', they will bring it. The concierge was really helpful!

We were very comfortable during our stay, felt that the staff was very professional and got an excellent price for a spacious bedroom & living room with all the expected amenities (TV, multiple windows, drying rack, Minibar, soaps, clean towels & linens every day). The sauna & pool were a nice plus and the included buffet breakfast was an amazing array of meats, cheeses, fancy breads and so much more & better than expected! We will definitely go back again.

Google
Nice hotel and very well located. The swimming pool is also very nice. The design of the rooms is a bit already old and they should make some renovations. Another thing to notice there was a weird smell in the kitchen area during our stay for all the 5 days.

From the welcome to our departure the staff was helpful, friendly and professional. The family room was spacious and very comfortable for our family of four (with teen daughters). The maid service was excellent - supplies always refreshed. Any request ( for an iron etc.) was done in a timely fashion. The concierge was exceptional! We would stay here again and will recommend to family and friends when they visit Paris. Great location- close to major attractions and historic sites. Thank you for making our stay in Paris a memorable one.

Google
Wonderful hotel and location. My 2 daughters and I were there this last summer and it was lovely. The staff were great. Always very nice and helpful. Our room was perfect. We had a junior sweet and it was 2 stories. A king upstairs and a queen pullout downstairs. A absolutely huge room, especially by European standars. The bed and the pillows were heavenly. I have a bad back and was really concerned but I slept great every night. We were there for 11 nights and never a problem. The location was a perfect walking distance to so many attractions and very close to public transportation. I would love to go back again today if I could but I certainly hope to stay again in the future!

Google
Very average hotel at a 5 Star price. Was recommended by an acquaintance because of its location. Rooms are very average. Staff is perfunctory but not overly cordial. Staff came into my room on two occasions without announcing themselves. Restaurant and Bar very below average. Although this hotel is priced the same as the Sofitel a few blocks away. Just know that to get good location at this price you will sacrifice many other amenities. I have stayed at other hotels in Paris for less price and better experience .

Yelp
Outstanding customer service. Every staff did everything possible to ensure our comforts were attended to. Free ice water in bottles in the lobby on hot afternoons! Smiles and helpful concierge services. The breakfast bar was fantastic! Wonderful selection if foods. Great location. They provided AC during the heat wave which was excellent!

Yelp
A really nice and pleasant hotel with great location right next to Louvre. The major downside are the relatively small rooms and the fact that even though they claim to be a spa hotel the swimming pool is rather small.... food as well as bar are ok

Yelp
Paris as a first world city? Sorry but "Non!" The hotel just turned off our power for FIVE hours with NO notice. When I called the front desk, they said it was "maintenance." Really? Unscheduled? This is so third word. Mssr Lorenzi is the manager who failed to give ANY notice of the power outage!! We talked to Charlie (from Malaisia) and Lucy at the front desk and they couldn't do anything about the power being off. They indicated that the management had posted notice in the elevators but we were on the ground floor, never needing the elevator!! The room was cold. The rooms were dark. The night clerks indicated that the manager, Lorenzi, would discuss this with us the next day. Lorenzi never did. This was also unprofessional. Service problems will always happen, but management should lead the way to finding a solution. Other problems. There is wifi in the lobby but not in the rooms (not that they advertise it, but they also don't advertise electricity and didn't deliver that consistently either) The room we had was nice but dated and dark. We had a two level room with a queen bed upstairs. The queen bed was two twins pushed together with a seem in the middle that was hard. The left side was sagging and the right side was firm. This meant that my wife and I slept on the firm side, all squeezed onto one twin. We did not eat in the restaurant because it looked small and run down (and EMPTY). In my opinion, Mssr Lorenzi fails to run a professional hotel. We are due back in Paris next year, and will NOT be returning. The location is good but Lorenzi had nothing to do with that.

Yelp
Great Location and great customer service. Close to the Louvre, a 15 min walk to the notre dame and a 10 min taxi to the Eiffel Tower. Location wise this a great place to stay for most tourist attractions and shopping.

Yelp
I really like it here . This is nice part of Paris to stay in (the first district) and the Tulliries metro line is a two minute walk away. The room service is really good, and the front desk staff had great English skills, even if they were hell-bent on helping me improve my terrible French by force. The rest of the staff seemed to know only French, so be sure to brush up on basic phrases. The elevators are tiny and slow (typical Parisian type) but the location is excellent, and the accommodations are spacious and comfortable. The best feature This hotel has is the walled garden outdoor seating area . Few things are more whimsical than starting a day in Paris by eating breakfast outdoors, in a quaint courtyard .

Yelp
This hotel is like that person that you might have dated that had multiple personalities. Cool and inspiring at times and then on the other hand pyscho crazy. The crazy and the amazing personalities have some things in common, but then the differences really make two different experiences. Depending on what day and more specifically the room you have the hotel has a completely different vibe. Let's talk about what it has in common. First, and foremost, the location is amazing. It is 100 yards from the louvre, directly opposite to the jar din de tuillerie. The orsay museum is a five minute walk across the river, there are plenty of cafes on every corner. The metro is a one minute walk from the entrance to the hotel across the street. The metro takes you to a direct shot to the arc de triumph. The notre dame is a direct shot on the same metro in the opposite direction - 3 stops. You can easily walk from the hotel to all major sites in Paris. 30 minutes to notre dame by foot, 40 minutes by foot to left bank. I think you get the point. The common areas: the lobby is beautiful with marble. There is a nice seating area that overlooks a quaint and peaceful courtyard. The restaurant is nice and it has a pool and spa downstairs. The steam room is free and so is the pool. The massage and other treatments are overly priced. The spa is attached to the pool so it too suffers from the Sybill like multiple personalities. The staff: the concierge was very friendly. All the staff had some level of understanding of English. They made some good recommendations, but on some other things forgot to tell you of little details like the museums is closed tomorrow so make sure you see it. Overall, however the concierge was excellent and single handedly dispelled any myths about French people. There were a few staff members rough around the edges and rude, but they were the minority. so far so good. I will let you know of the second room first. (room 202) It was beautiful. It overlooked the courtyard. Marble bathrooms, flat screen tvs, towel heater rack, awesome shower with great pressure. It was very romantic and satisfactory. I was happy to come back to the room at the end of my touring. The only negative about the second room was that the carpet should have been a little cleaner in spots. The first room, ( room 715) however, was absolutely atrocious. It had no hot water, several electrical plugs didn't work, mold in the bathroom, dingy carpet, lumpy bed, and a miserable view of a roof. If I had to stay in that room for a week my experience in Paris would have been affected substantially. If I had that room, I would give the hotel a 2 rating. I told them of the water and problems day 2 and they were immediately apologetic. They immediately changed our room to the second room which was gorgeous and was an upgraded room. If I had only had the second room, I would have rated it a 4. Hence my rating of 3. Couple of notes. I nearly freaked out in the first room when I went in the bathroom and saw a tub with shower, sink, AND NO TOILET. I immediately harkened back to 1940's French movies where the people shared a toilet and bath. Then I frantically looked around every door in the hotel room and found a door at the entrance to the hotel room that had a toilet. What a relief in more ways than one. This same concept existed in the other room. The explanation of the staff for the first room was that they were under renovation. Therefore you MUST ASK FOR a renovated room. I looked and it appeared that the hotel had been under renovation for a long time. During my week there, I never once saw any renovation work. My wife thought that perhaps they give you the old rooms and wait to see if you complain. Many may not. Tips: I don't recommend the breakfast. It is a hotel breakfast. There is a great cafe on rue St honore approximately 50 yards from a side entrance to the hotel that was charming with fresh food. Wifi is free in Lobby. Wired Internet for rooms. Bad for an iPad. Overall, it was a good experience. I wish I had the second room or something like it first and I would have given an even better rating and would have raved about the hotel.

Yelp
There are hotels where, on arrival, you feel uncomfortable by the way you are greeted. The Albany St James is quite the opposite. We arrived early, in fact very early, knowing that check in time was, normally, three o'clock. We had a visit booked for Notre Dame (on the day the fire burned and did so much damage) at 11.00. The concierge saw us arrive and when I explained our position, he checked his monitor for our reservation. Told us he would sort out our luggage and directed us towards Notre Dame. A fantastic, helpful and friendly guy. At 15.00 we arrived back to check in, again the young man in reception was friendly, yet professional. They requested a deposit of 50 Euros/night, which some reviewers have mentioned. To us, no problem as it was put on our credit card. He then showed us the way to our room and on the way pointing out the spa, swimming pool, sauna, restaurant, bar. There was so much. This is where the question started in our heads. How come this was 4*, it should be nearer 5*. The room was quite spacious. With everything we could ever need. Tea/coffee making facilities, TV, robes and slippers, safe, mini-bar, hair dryer, shower in the bath, toiletries (not the cheap variety) and free Wi-Fi. The bed was extremely comfortable and even though we were on the side street side, quiet at night. We didn't opt for breakfast but as we passed though the restaurant the guests all seemed to be enjoying the offerings which seemed extremely appetising. Also, on nice days, a garden area for enjoying a breakfast in the open. One afternoon we did try the wonderful swimming pool and sauna. Certainly helped to relieve aches and pains from wandering this wonderful city. I have to mention the bar. Nicely laid out with comfortable seating and a fantastic barman who knew his trade. My love is a vodka martini. Now, in most bars, they mix vodka with vermouth on a 'pour it' method. Totally wrong. As my father said, he was a first class barman, the vermouth should be a whisper. The barman here poured the vodka then, using a straw as a pipette, added the vermouth. Those two martinis were delicious. Hang on it might have been three, even four. They were so good. This hotel is one of the best we have stayed in for our price range. Thank you, everyone, for a really enjoyable stay. We will remember you for our next stay in Paris.

Yelp
They did not have the room ready by 3pm, even though we initially checked our bags in at 8am. The carpet in the room has multiple stains. Deceiving pictures.

Yelp
We'll never stay here again. I rarely write a negative review, but be warned if you're considering this place. Our prepaid luxury room through Expedia was tiny even by Paris standards, and deep-down nasty dirty. Crusty carpet, moldy bath, smelly room. (Expedia kept sending my negative review back for revision, and would not post my revised review, do they own a piece of this place?) We were lured by the promise of a spa experience for our last 2 nights in Paris, don't make the same mistake. Touting this as a charming 17th century historic hotel suggests some standard of maintenance, which is nearly non-existent. Most of the hotels in the area are 17th century, and they're nothing like this. The glowing website description is pure fiction. Makes you wonder who's writing their positive reviews. When we went to ask for another room, the front desk was lined with other customers complaining about their rooms. We were moved to a larger room, but it was noisy and shabby, and there was black mold thriving in this bath, too. Prepaid room, no refund, we were trapped. There are plenty of nice hotels in the area, choose one of those.

Yelp
We booked this hotel for my fiance's birthday weekend. Unfortunately, Norwegian Air cancelled our flight, and there were no other options to get us to Paris in time since it was just a short weekend trip. We contacted the hotel to cancel the reservation, but they refused to issue a refund. I can't believe they are keeping over a thousand dollars from us, even though the cancellation is completely outside of our control. Avoid this place at all costs.

Yelp
I really, really really liked this hotel. I've been lucky enough to travel around the world and stay in some pretty amazing but also some pretty rubbish hotels. St James & Albany was tremendous! Great location near the Louvre, Concorde and other popular sites in Paris. We were only here for one night but the experience was great. the staff were really nice and very helpful. Our room was clean, tidy and really nice. An easy 5/5 with great service and free wifi. My cousin was extremely happy!

Yelp
It's sad that someone recently had a bad experience at this hotel, since my experience in April 2010 was really good. At the time of our visit there was some construction going on in the lobby, which was a bummer but other than that it was great. When we arrived, the service was very friendly and we were even offered a free upgrade. We of course took the upgrade and were given a room that was two floors and exited to a courtyard in the center of the hotel. The room was clean, had free high speed internet and was very romantic. Parking is expensive in Paris, so I can't complain too much about the charge for the over night garage parking. I can't say if the place has changed since April 2010, but I was hoping to visit Paris again and stay at the same place. I hope Chris O's experience was a fluke, since I had such a great time.

Yelp
Marie Antoinette stayed here in this same building many years ago. I found this out because of the bellman that so kindly helped me upon arrival and checkout. Turns out my bellman had been there for over 15 years! The decor in the common areas were impressive and lobby was well situated. The courtyard is very peaceful and elegant. The location is amazing with easy access to a money exchange a block away, gift shops situated right outside, chocolateries everywhere, top-notch eateries within walking distance, famous landmarks across the street, quiet rooms, and FREE WiFi. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. CONS: Room was a little on the tiny side, carpet in the room was weathered and furnishings seems a little old. The door to my mini-bar and safer would not shut. BUT I felt very safe and comfortable.

Yelp
We stayed here for one night when we arrived in Paris. We loved it. The room was very comfortable and quiet. The service was fantastic and everyone was extremely friendly and attentive. I wonder about those who stay the rooms were "outdated" and "dingy". I would suggest a new hotel for those who dislike the charm of an older one. We could not have been happier. The location was perfect, but yes, it was touristy. Why? Because this location is in the middle of everything. It is a five minute walk to the Louvre. A long walk to the Eiffel Tower and mere yards to the nearest Metro. We found the hotel very charming and I recommend it.

Yelp
Soooo I didnt actually stay here, but all of my coworkers did and let me tell you, I got an earful everyday. I am writer this review because I spent time in the hotel with my coworkers. First the hotel is smack dead in the middle of a tourist zone, so very busy and very crowded. Now on to he hotel. The lobby is fancy, but rooms are dingy and outdated. Absolutely not a 4 star hotel. They have the awkward wood beams in the rooms that I almost ran face first into when I visited my coworker. The Internet worked about 15% off the time, their excuse "to many people are using it". I sat in my coworkers room for 30min while the hotel "technician" aka random hotel staff, tried to fix it. He wasn't successful and they were only able to use it at midnight, probably because people were sleeping. The staff was mildly friendly, however they were all very busy and didn't have time to attend to basic requests that a hotel of their "supposed" calibrated should have been able to fulfill Just an overall "meh" experience. I would never stay here and my co workers said they wouldn't either. Not worth the money or headache.

Yelp
This hotel shouldnt have even 2 stars. I got there with 98 degrees outside and there was no air conditioning in the room. When we complaint they brought 1 FAN for a two chambers rooms. The room was a sauna and the employees were lying about the AC. Some said it broke a couple of days before, others said it was the week before and another one said it broke 4 years ago. We were paying 769 euros a night for a non-air-conditioning room. After too much complaint a portable unit was brought to the room that required the window to be kept open to send the hot air outside. It was ridiculous. The first couple of days they had cold water containers in the lobby but I guess it was too much work to refill it during the day and they removed it. Breakfast: The food was cheap and bad quality. The jam and cheese was the cheapest, tasted like plastic, the coffee machine broke the day after our arrival and of course stayed broken until day before we left (we stayed a week) This hotel is very well located but fallen apart. We couldnt get rooms anywhere else so we had to stay there the whole week. I wouldnt recommend it to anyone. I've never been to a 1 start hotel but I'd say this is the equivalent. Oh! Almost forgot, they dont even put hair conditioning in the bathroom, shower gel and shampoo and you are lucky!
google avatar

Başak K.

Yelp
Location is pretty good but, room service is not quallified enough. I asked for hair conditioner several times and even when they brang the hair conditioner, it was impossible to put it out of the box. Water in the minibar is the lowest quality and I would rather to drink from the sink. Its an old design room. Spa and pool is okay. Staff are very friendly and polite. Overall not worth to my money.

Yelp
An absolutely lovely experience. Large clean bright two story room with a balcony. Service that was extraordinary from a beautiful young concierge named Solveig who made sure our stay was exactly what we wanted it to be. From Breakfast served in the Garden to a glass of wine in the courtyard at the end of our evening, it was a fabulous visit. What a location!! Everything is almost in walking distance.

Yelp
This was a very dissapointing hotel. Stay away. We checked in early and had our bags checked and stored until our room was ready. When we returned to the hotel that evening and had our bags brought to our room, a laptop computer was missing from the bag. The hotel management did nothing. A visit by the bellman was not useful and the bellman manager said he trusts his people and suggested we go 3 blocks away and report ot the police. The hotel manager was advised adn they said he would speak with me in the morning. He never did and was neer available. They were defensive, not interested in facts or even enough informatino to investigate. Their indifference to teh customer was overwhelming. Only stay here if you take your belongings wtih you at all times.
