The island is very beautiful, but our overall impression was completely ruined by dishonest “tour guides” and taxi drivers working there. We experienced a situation where we agreed that at the end of the excursion we would be taken to a specific beautiful beach for swimming. Instead of taking us to a proper beach, the guide spent the time driving us around local souvenir shops.
At the end of the tour, the guide refused to take us to the agreed beach. We insisted and ended up going back to the port to find a taxi driver who could take us to the beach we wanted. In the end, when we paid less than the agreed amount because the deal was not fully fulfilled and we were not taken to the promised beach, the tour guide started threatening us with a KNIFE. We were in such shock that there was no question of going anywhere with local taxi drivers afterward. Fortunately, the police intervened in time.
As a result, we were extremely disappointed, because we never even got a chance to swim.
My father also faced a situation where he was taken to a beach, but they refused to take him back for the agreed price and demanded four times more, threatening to leave him on an unknown beach.
My advice to tourists: be very careful with local “service providers.” You can easily get into serious trouble.
