Where to Stay in Toronto When You Visit (Updated 2025)

"A no-frills but comfortable budget option just over the border in St. Lawrence, the rooms here are on the small side and some budget-friendly options have a shared bathroom, but I found the rooms clean and comfy and liked the rooftop lounge at sunset." - Matthew Kepnes

Great location for old town Toronto, near a great coffee shop. Parking across the street and down the block (for pay). Also near some missions, so the street had some unsavory persons. The room we rented was small, but honestly you could live there for a month or more! Like a tiny apartment, it had everything you need. Very clean fridge, bed, and kitchen area. Bed had older sheets and the shower is small, but everything worked fine for our one night.

This place is ABSOLUTELY disgusting. DO NOT book it. Unfortunately, I stayed at this “hotel” recently for one night with my family, and it was a BIG mistake. I wasn’t aware of the reviews because I booked it through a website that allowed me to earn extra credit card points. Honestly, it’s no better than a $40 hostel in Bogotá. The room was supposed to be ready by 3 P.M., but when we arrived at 5 P.M., it still wasn’t ready. We paid $230 for a room with two beds and only got a double bed. They also charged a $300 deposit on my credit card, which they PHOTOCOPIED along with my driver’s license. The two men working there made my family and me feel so unsafe that my boyfriend stayed awake all night. The room we got was TINY, smelled overwhelmingly of BLEACH, and the pillows were covered in hair, so we ended up sleeping on top of the bed. The shared bathroom was filthy, and we didn’t even shower. I feel bad for mentioning this next point, because I truly believe there should be a place for everyone in this world, but the hotel is next to a homeless/rehab shelter. At one point, my family and I found ourselves right next to some highly intoxicated men who were fighting and beating each other up over drugs—right beside my baby’s stroller.

Cities are always more expensive so we found this place to save a little. The place is easy to find and fairly central, there is a pay and display car park across the road which you need to factor in if you take a car. The price reflects the place and I was transported to my back packing days of the 80's. The carpets were old and the décor had seen better days. However, the rest of the place was clean and the showers were hot, what more do you need?

Worst hotel I’ve ever seen. Drug needles in the parking lot and sidewalk. The room was unlocked and open when we walked up to the door. Bed linen was dirty and ripped. Room was VERY run down and was literally the size of a large closet. The window ac unit had holes next to it; wind and daylight was coming in. No bathroom, you apparently have to share a public one. Doorway to the hotel smelled like urine. We left right after check in to find a new hotel. They refused to give refund, we will be contacting the bank.

Had a 5 night stay at this place and ended up walking out due to the fact that our room was disgusting! We were then pressured to pay twice at the front desk by extremely rude staff. The owner ended up refunding us and things seemed fine but the next week we got a charge for 1000 plus dollars with them refusing to give it back.

They stole my deposit, they have particular conditions wich basically transforme the whole hotel into a jail after 10 pm Bunch of non trustable people that finally stole my deposit for no reason since I got there and leave cause the conditions that they keep upstairs wich is after you pay and transfert deposit are hide and no way to know that before so I chek out immediately and now they won’t give me back my deposit. DONT GO THERE

Disgusting place, horrible customer service, smelt like urine, and the front desk people creep me out. I can't say for sure but in my opinion these guys are 100% scammers do not go to them you will regret it even 50 a night for these rooms is robbery. Also check out the nice blanket stains :)

Disgusting room had a bloodstain on the sheets. I asked for a refund, they refused and offered a different room. That one had hair on the bedside table and holes in the pillow case. They asked for an extra 200$ deposit despite the room being paid for online and wanted a physical card. Thankfully, I didn’t have it so they didn’t photocopy it like they did to others but did a pre- authorization and I tapped. The form they made me sign said the deposit was 0$ so I modified it and made the person at the front desk initial it. When I said I would not stay there because it was dirty and unsafe, the owner insulted me for checking the room was clean. I travelled out of town rather than stay there.
