Chiesa di San Luca

Extraordinary greek-cross plan church with exquisite frescoes by Domenico Piola and his son Paolo Gerolamo Piola representing stories from the life of St. Luke.

Pretty small but unique church built and run by the nobiliar family of Spinola. It's the only church in Genova who's still run by a family. You can notice intense baroque and flemming influences in the art displayed here.

You need to see this insane cathedral when in Genua. Try to find it but don't get lost in the labyrinth of alleys like I did. There is no GPS in these canyons.

Vista in data 04/05/2025 in gita in comitiva .Chiesa fondata da Oberto Spinola nel 1188 ,su di un terreno di proprietà del genero Grimaldi .Lo stesso Spinola ottenne dal Papa Gregorio VIII che la chiesa diventasse parrocchia gentilizia delle due famiglie .Nel corso dei secoli ,subì interventi per riportarla ai requisiti di adeguatezza previsti dal Concilio di Trento ,visto le condizioni in cui versava .Riedificata in forma barocche dal 1626 ,portata a compimento nel 1650.

Vivo a Genova da circa cinque anni. E' la prima volta che vedo un posto così meraviglioso, un posto che vale davvero la pena visitare.
