It looks pretty from above but nothing prepares you for what you will find while exploring the island of Saint Martin. Overall, it looks like a beautiful tropical island with turquoise waters and the temperature is ideal. To be fair, it feels like a trap to not say "prison". There is not a lot of culture because it's a tiny island, and it's not a country. It feels like the Caribbean and it feels safe, quiet and relaxing. There is color everywhere, even if colors don't make sense, you know you are in an island. The bad, there is garbage, plastic and pollution present everywhere including the ocean and storm drains that bring the waste directly to the ocean. It's definitely overcrowded, and poverty can't hide by any means. Philipsburg looks somewhat picturesque but also it has a dark/weird vibe to it too. Locals are typically friendly, and kind but there are exceptions. I think, the French side is better than the dutch side because it feels less developed, food on the French side I think it's better too. On the Dutch side the food is plain and everything is for tourists. So much chicken you can scream. Everything closes very early and there is not much to do in the day but once the night comes it all goes dead fast. 3 Stars is fair my opinion for a boring island. Most locals are trapped here and they know it too.

My visit to Saint Martin Island last year was a true escape to paradise. Pristine beaches, vibrant marine life, and a laid-back atmosphere made it an unforgettable experience. Whether it's snorkeling, relaxing on the sandy shores, or exploring local culture, Saint Martin has it all. A must-visit for those seeking a tranquil getaway.

Truly a piece of heaven on earth! One of the best coral beach I have visited so far. Untamed calm place, ideal for the Honeymoon couples. Less crowded destination with fresh sea-food. Few unique hotels are available at the southern part of the island. Winter is the best season to visit. I really enjoyed my time at Saint Martin's island, surrounded by water on all sides. Really enjoyed the speed boat ride to Chera Dip and strolling along the beach and seeing the fisherman bring in their catches.

A wonderful Neverland-like island where you feel young all the time, enjoy white sandy beaches, great cuisine and a joyous atmosphere. Surrounded by other islands where you can go by boat in a short time.

Ower all one of the best places to visit in Nothern Caribbesn. Very friendly island, especially the Dutch side. Unique blend of cultures, Caribbean, French, Dutch, American and Latin America. Excellent place to forget yourself, taste awesome street food; grilled ribs, shawarma, Chinese food and French baguettes and pastries .

Beautiful people, beautiful Country, honest, proud & a tight "Community/Country". Where neighbors say hi & are there for each other Country wide, emotionally, spiritually, financially with open hearts & open mind's and you can't forget, one hell of a good time. Thank you for another great yet to short visit, will be back. Prayers going up, blessings coming down. It's a beautiful thing seeing everyone coming together & rebuilding your Country after the stage 5 hurricane. You have made a beautiful recovery & all will be back to "normal" soon. With such wonderful compassion & empathy for each other, y'all can do ANYTHING!! Stay Blessed, rahneejr

When I visit an island I'm looking for culture n originality. It's St Maarten...more of a stateside vibe. They have many of the same businesses including all of the fast foods. Not a very scenic or attractive island. Traffic is the worst... especially with the mopeds weaving in and out between the vehicles! The downtown is a shopping area for tourism. The boardwalk/ beachside packed like sardines! Upside is there are plenty of local buses and taxis to take you where you want to go! Having spent 30 years in the Caribbean myself, this is definitely my least favorite. Give me waterfalls, mountains, windy roads, quaint villages, locally grown fruits n veg!

29February,2024, First time I have visited Saint Matin. It was a nice place before. Now there some problems I have to face like food hotels are very bad .Also their food & behavior not good.Another problem is Autorickshaw.if they understand u r new they have charged a lot.climax of the beach is very dirty& a lot of bad smells .so I suggest if u r hungry or less hungry be careful about hotels.
