Ultimate Guide to Glacier National Park Camping

"Another popular campground, St. Mary is one of the largest in Glacier National Park with 148 sites. Three of those can accommodate RVs and trailers up to a 40 feet, and 22 can accommodate RVs and trailers up to 35 feet — so, this could be an option if you have a larger camper. This year-round campground offers showers, toilets, and sinks with running water. It's also close to shops and restaurants that sit just outside the park entrance. St. Mary is one of the few Glacier campgrounds that can be reserved in advance, and reservations are required from May 27 through August 14. The rest of the year, spots are first come, first served." - Travel + Leisure Editors

My wife and I enjoyed our stay as we met our family here. We stayed in loop B and there are bathrooms but no showers in this loop. You must go to loop c for showers and there are only 4 showers, so it can be a bit busy. For as many campers as there were, the campground was pretty peaceful and quiet and didn't feel quiet. I enjoyed our site as there were a few trees so it separated our site from others which I enjoy!

We were in loop C site 145. The views of the mountains were awesome but hazy due to the Canadian wildfires. All sites are pull-through and adjacent to the road with many providing limited space for campers. Our site was tight and did not allow us to put out the awning on our camper. There is a nice shower building with four (4) gender neutral showers with easy access from all sites. There is potable water throughout the loop and at the dump station across from the campground entrance. A camp host was in the loop, frequently making rounds to welcome new guests. The staff were friendly and informative. The ranger at the campground entrance provided a good overview of what to expect and what to avoid. You cannot forage for wood but can purchase dry firewood from the General Store at the Rising Sun campground a short drive up Going to the Sun road. Generators are allowed in loop C from 8-10am, noon-2pm, and 5-7pm daily. We had 4-bars of 5G Verizon service throughout the campground.

If you want to really experience Glacier National Park you should camp in the park. This has nice campsites, bathrooms and warm showers are definitely a plus after a long hike. Amazing views and funny little gopher in the campground.

Do not book camp spot A03. Not sure how they even keep this as a spot. Absolutely 0 privacy, 0 shade, every car that pulls into the camp shines their lights directly at you. If you want to have a tent, it better be a small one if you want to have a fire also. No room for anything in A03. If I wanted to be in the eyes of 10 other campsites and everyone that pulls in I would go camp in a Walmart parking lot.

Best place to stay when in east glacier. Very open sites, with beautiful scenery every where you look. It was a pleasure walking the dog around. We had a semi mountain view from our site. Next to know mosquitoes because you are higher up. Can’t say the same for fish creek on the west side.

We used a tent site. It was very tight for our large dome tent. Location of campground is ideal. On the less traveled East side of GNP. Right on Going To The Sun Road. A short drive to the Canadian border and Waterton Lakes Provincial Park.

Hot showers at a National Park Service campground! We had a beautiful site surrounded on 3 sides by Aspen that gave shade almost the entire day.

Can feel a little bit crowded, but very nice.Overall, and super close to get into the park. Showers were okay, but water was on the coldish side. Would definitely go there again
