Saint Paul's Cathedral of Liège

Beautiful Liege cathedral. A pleasant surprise and one of the highlights of my Liege visit. The few modern glass windows next to the older windows make a very interesting and beautiful comparison. The church is free (as any church should be), the courtyard also, but the treasury is only accessible by buying a ticket.

I visited the Christmas market near the cathedral in Liège on St. Nicholas Day, and the Cathedral itself turned out to be a really pleasant experience 😊 The atmosphere was warm and festive without feeling too busy. I liked that the gallery was open — it gave a nice view of the interior and made the visit a bit more special ✨ The stained-glass windows were beautiful and very unique, and I enjoyed taking a moment to look at them up close 🪞 The Christmas nativity scene was also lovely — simple, charming, and made the place feel extra cozy ❤️ Overall, it was a relaxed and enjoyable visit.

St. Paul’s Cathedral in Liège is a beautiful place to visit. Walking through the main cathedral, with its stunning stained glass and peaceful atmosphere, is already a treat. What makes it even more special is the chance to explore the back rooms, which are open to visitors. For €8, you can check out the treasure rooms, where they’ve got some amazing artifacts like gold chalices and reliquaries. It’s a great way to dive into the history of the place. Definitely worth it if you’re in Liège!

This captivating, must-visit cathedral containing several gems worth seeing in person: - Masterwork neo-gothic pulpit with especially striking statue of satan by Willem Geefs - Colourful mix of renaissance and modern stained glas windows - Ornamental church ceiling decorated with sublime leaf motives (unique in many current day churches) - Opulent gold and silver saint-Lamberts shrine If you have some time and money left I recommend you visit the adjacent treasury which contains the dazzling reliquary bust of Saint-Lambert and reliquary of Charles the Bold.
