Well couldn't be happier that I found Sakari and tried it out last night for the first time.
It all started yesterday afternoon when I was having a severe sushi craving. I don't get off work until 8, so I was searching for a spot close to my house that would still be open. That's when I came across Sakari. Of course I read through reviews and pics before to get a feel for the place. Most yelpers had nothing but positive things to say, so I went for it, and boy am I ever so glad I did!
I went around 9:15 and they close at 10:00 so I was worried about being "that person" that walks in right before closing. Most people were seated outside, but when we were greeted, we were invited to eat inside or out. The decor inside was stunning!! Pleasantly surprised from just seeing the outside, wasn't expecting what I would be walking into. They had nice ambiance lighting and large plush white leather tufted booths. Our waitress nice as could be and in no way annoyed we were coming in so late. She was very friendly, down to earth, and was very helpful navigating the menu. From beginning to end she was full of exuberance and provided excellent service.
And for the best part ... the noms! I was famished walking into this place. I had literally been reading reviews and looking at pics right before going and was more than ready to get chowing down. We put in 3 rolls but also a Gyoza appetizer. The Gyoza came out super quick and was DELISH! Off to a wonderful start! I was extra excited when I saw the Chef's Specials menu. I typically always order something off here at a restaurant that offers one. They had a ceviche roll which I've heard some places have, but haven't gotten the opportunity to try it yet. I was all over it and beyond excited once I saw it.
I ordered the Bubbalicious: Shrimp tempura, cream chs, topped with steamed shrimp, avocado, scallions and eel sauce. This one might be one of my favorite specialty rolls I've EVER HAD. The waitress says its a favorite there. All 3 rolls were good, but would've just ordered 3 of that one if I knew how tasty it was. We always try a spicy tuna roll of sorts. Ordered the Snow White: Spicy tuna, masago, scallion avo, topped with a crab salad (raw). It was yummy, but my least favorite of the 3. The ceviche roll was stellar. They even gave you a lime to squeeze to your liking. This was amazing, not used to tasting lime juice with sushi, but being ceviche it complimented it beautifully. The ceviche roll had: Spicy yellowtail, cucumber, fried garlic, red miso topped with Japanese madai, avo, and micro cilantro. Superb and a must try if it's available.
I don't too often offer up a 5 star rating, but every single item we tried was terrific. The service was exemplary and the decor and atmosphere of the restaurant itself was lovely. I always say its a great restaurant when you are still there and are already anticipating your next trip. There wasn't one thing that was unsatisfactory, so I feel 5 stars is warranted. That was my feeling on Sakari and absolutely recommend checking it out. Might be your new go to, as I know it is now mine!
