While there have been debates about whether it is the most modern mosque in Turkey, some architectural critics agree with this assessment as well as those who disagree.[2] It was built by the Şakirin family. The building, whose architectural project design was done by Hüsrev Tayla, was presented as "the first mosque designed by a woman" because its interior decoration was done by architect Zeynep Fadıllıoğlu.[3] However, the architect of this mosque is Hüsrev Tayla; Zeynep Fadıllıoğlu carried out the interior architectural design of the mosque.
The name of the mosque comes from the Arabic word meaning "grateful". Surrounded by glass on three sides, the mosque is built on a 3,000 square meter ground, has a total construction area of 10,000 square meters, and a capacity of 500 people. It has two minarets, each 35 meters high.
It is thought that it will gain the function of being the protocol mosque on the Anatolian side of Istanbul.
