SAKURA BURGER

I asked for the premium Wagyu beef burger with extra mushrooms. While it was not bad, it was far from my best burger… and with the prices in Japan where we can get a ramen for 2.000 yen, this burger at 3.000 yen does not come cheap in relatively terms. I also felt they could add a few more fries in the dish (the photo I post is how I received the order, it came with 9 pieces of fries)..for the price I think there is better offer. I also question if had I ordered the normal meat (which says is a mixture of Japan and Australian meet), I wonder if I would have tasted the difference, because the flavor was coming much more from the sauces then from the meat itself - but this I will never know! 😁

This might have been the best burger I’ve ever had? I came here after seeing a recommendation on an online forum for lunch, located conveniently right outside Kinetsu train station. Got the premium Japanese beef burger, added mushrooms, and it was a 10/10. Kept me full the entire day of strolling Nara! Service was excellent, atmosphere was cozy and felt Japanese despite the burgers and fries. We walked in shortly after its opening around 11am and had no wait.

Best burger in Nara! Absolutely phenomenal food. The homemade ketchup is also excellent pairing for the fries. 10/10 would come here again!

I had this place pinned on my cross Japan, bicycle tour. I had camped five nights in a row and was starving. The burger was as big as a baby head and the fries were crunchy on the outside soft on the inside. They had a selection of craft local beers. I had the stout. I also had the avocado burger as you can see it was gigantic, juicy, and perfectly prepared, which is typical of Japanese burger joints. This might have been the best burger of my entire 3000 mile bike tour. I’m still processing that. I had to park my bicycle around the next corner. It cost ¥100. No problem but touring bikes are not fitting in thatbike parking set up. Just a heads up. Love this restaurant!

Delightful little burger restaurant to escape the chill. It has an English menu with varied selection of delicious burgers, hot dogs and sandwiches. Service is excellent, definitely recommend!

Got the waygu burger and it was delicious. If you're not coming to Nara to see the sights, come for this burger. Fries were good too! If it's full you can join wait list via QR code and go somewhere nearby for a drink. Super friendly service.

Amazing burger and very friendly staff. The fries were also really good, leaving me wishing for more. I had a Teriyaki Japanese Beef burger with double patty and bacon - simply delicious. One of the best burgers I ever had.

After a day sightseeing in Nara, we were hangry! Luckily, I did some research before coming here and found Sakura burger. I wasn't exactly looking for a burger, but more like a Japanese hamburger steak. But this showed up as the top choice in the area, so we had to try! It is located down an alleyway, directly across the street from the Kintetsu station, which made it so convenient. We actually walked right past it as we were searching because it is such a cute and tiny place. I was also looking for a line of people. Apparently, this place has long wait times on some days. But thankfully, it was nearly empty on a Saturday afternoon. Lucky us! The minute we walked through the door, I knew we made the right choice. I love the ambience! It was so cozy and inviting! We were greeted at the door by a lovely waitress who asked me in Japanese how many in our party. She set up a table in the back and we were seated right away! We ordered 2 Sakura cheeseburgers, one Sakura burger, and a Sakura burger with a fried egg. All of our burgers came with bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion, and their "tarter" sauce. In my opinion, the sauce tastes nothing like the one we use for fish and chips. I was expecting a pickle taste, but it was very subtle. It really enhanced the flavor of the burger. My 19-year-old son proclaimed it was the best burger he has ever had, and that is saying a lot because he doesn't really give his opinion on how food tastes lol. The bun was so good! It had crispy, toasted edges and a chewy soft middle. Everything tasted so fresh. Also, their wedge fries (comes with every burger or sandwich order) were absolutely perfect. Honestly, this Sakura burger and their fries are the best I have ever had. Our bill came out to around $37 USD, tax included, and because we are in Japan, no tip. We highly recommend this place if you're visiting Nara and just want to take a break from all the Japanese food you'll be eating. We will definitely crave this burger when our trip is over. Also, I failed to mention that the staff and service here are AMAZING!

I had one of the best burgers I think I ever had. In this place anything you get is amazing. Also their green salad is so good that it's kind of addictive. I really recommend this place after spending a day in Nara.

Very good burgers this place was excellent! I had the chili jalapeños burger. It was 4 of us they were so good. We are from America and those were one of the best burgers. French fries were very good. We ordered an extra chili fries also very good!

Great burgers and hot dogs! Fresh ingredients, large burgers, and ice cold draft beer. Customize your burger or hot dog with the ingredients you want. Food came out quick, good service. Had to wait for a small bit for our group of 6 to split two tables. (Checkin using the small machine outside the door. Fun ambience with Louie Armstrong playing jazz inside. Highly recommended! We ate the food so fast I forgot to take a picture. The website has their current menu and prices in English and Japanese!

A rare find !! Three of us had a 40min wait in the rain and it was worth it. Very small place , nice atmosphere, great music and a "strong chill vibe"...exactly what we've been searching for. Service was on point. Burgers were great... not a 12oz patty like I'm used to but perfect non the less. Not only that, they were able to get it to me rare ! They had plenty of add-on and side options and beer to complete your Sakura Burger experience. I have to say, this place made all of our day in every way !!! BRAVO, TAKE A BOW !!!

Awesome burger. Beautiful presentation. The bun is absolute perfection. A very large burger for the money. If you're craving a good burger. This is the place.

Sakura Burger is quite a popular spot, so sign in on paper at the door if there is a line. It is a small, special burger restaurant. They speak English well and have an English menu. They accept cc. Standard unisex restroom. The hamburgers were quite impressive with their size and taste. The bun is a more chewier, yet fluffier yellow type bun made to hold and withstand the juices. We both had messy hands at the end. I got the chili-jalapeno burger and it was perfect. How the chili was held in by the cheese and not spreading all over the place was nice. The avocado-egg burger was enjoyed by a hungry man. I liked that the burgers and fries were not greasy or overly salted. Enjoyed the local bottled beer selection. Show them your day bus pass for a free tea or coffee.

Came in with friends mid week lunch time. It was busy and we waited for a table about 5 min. Service was quick and nice, offered my friend a bigger chair since he's tall, that was nice. We ordered 3 different ones- bacon one, reg cheeseburger and I got the avocado one. The wait wasn't long at all and they all came with small side of fries which is not mentioned in the menu. But even without the fries it would be filling. We were all satisfied with each one of them. They also have big beer selection from different countries. I was pleased for someone who is not a big burger fan. Def recommend.

Pretty good burger :) Beef patty was yummy and the thick cut bacon was delicious! My fiancé is a bit of a picky eater, so ordering was a bit difficult. Ultimately, we both decided on the Sakura burger (he got it without lettuce, tomato, pickles). However, it still has onions, mustard and mayo in the burger that wasn't listed in the menu. Sadly, had to pack that one to go for me to eat later haha. Close to Nara Park, good for a more Western meal if you're looking for one!

I went to Sakura burger for lunch because I had read the Yelp reviews that were raving about this place & I was really craving a burger. Maybe it's because I've had the fortunate opportunity of trying many burger joints during my 1-month stay in Japan, but I do have to strongly disagree with the other Yelpers about this being the best burger in Japan. In fact, I would say that it's just a pretty good burger - nothing I would go out of my way to suggest to someone (unlike some incredible burger joints I tried in Tokyo). I had the regular cheeseburger + fries while here; I did really like that their fries were delicious potato wedges. My burger toppings (lettuce, tomato, etc...) definitely tasted fresh & I really liked that they had yellow mustard on the table (which can be hard to find at some places in Japan). The wifi didn't seem to work here so I wouldn't suggest going in with the intention that you'll get online but this place definitely has a relaxed & unpretentious vibe. If there was something more spectacular about the food, then I definitely would have been a bigger fan of this place.

It has a great atmosphere and cool music also they had good burgers. They were a little messy but it depends on the burger, I got the double patty and juices were dripping every were but it was good. They also have good pie.

Excellent service, great burgers and great local beer. Very close to Nara train station. I recommend the salsa burger if you are up for a spicy burger.

Sakura burger is AMAZING! The place is not pretentious (read very simple, just a few tables) but man are their burgers ever good. I had the Sakura Blossom, it was mouth watering good. With a nice beer, it was a perfect meal. I believe they grid their own beef, which is what makes it so special. If you are in Nara and in the mood for a burger, try Sakura Burger! The only disagreement is that they only take cash. But the prices are reasonable.

Great burgers here! All the food is amazing and the vibe is really cool. The couple running the place are super sweet and it definitely rivals any burger place I have been too - including all over in the US! For any tourists, they do have English menus available. Definitely be sure to try the bacon!

wow that is a seriously good burger. i ordered a Sakura Blossom burger - burger with home-made bacon slab, avocado, and cheese. oh yum. oh and they also have ice cold Coke in old school glass bottles.

Great little burger place in Nara. The burger itself is a delicious monstrosity with thick cut bacon, fried egg, grilled onion, and probably in my all time top 5. Not much seating but turnover is quick and the staff is very friendly. Highly recommend for those burger connoisseurs.

Seriously outstanding burger!!! Best burger I have ever had outside of the US. From the seasoned beef patty to the thick slab of bacon, this burger has it all. I opted for the Sakura blossom burger that has cheese and avocado on top. It was the right decision. After 6 days of traditional Japanese food this burger hit the spot. The atmosphere was casual with some jazz playing in the background. The menu is clear in English so ordering should not be an issue. As with every other restaurant I have been to in japan the beer menu is lacking, but to their credit they have some imports as well as Japanese beers. Highly recommended. Cash only.
