Checked out this new underground Japanese izakaya tucked away in a basement in the CBD, SAKURA HOUSE, and wow, this place is a VIBE! ❤️‍🔥 The vibes at Sakura House is immaculate! Makes you feel like stepping into a groovy 1980s Tokyo night, neon energy, intimate corners, live music, and cocktails inspired by Japanese zine culture. It’s lively, cool, and effortlessly fun! The menu is full of playful, approachable Japanese share plates that are perfect for nibbling between drinks and good conversations. I have been to this place twice. This place more of a hidden type bar with good food to eat and share. We had the Chicken Gyoza, Sesame la-yu fried garlic (5pc), chicken karaage and my fav Ebi Bao. Highly recommend this place for people looking for a good bar to chill out with a Japanese theme

Absolutely loved our visit to Sakura House! The atmosphere is stunning — warm, authentic and beautifully designed. The staff were so welcoming and attentive, and the food was incredible. Every dish was fresh, full of flavour and presented perfectly. We felt genuinely looked after from start to finish. Such a special spot in Sydney — perfect for date nights, celebrations or just treating yourself. Can’t wait to go back and try more of the menu. Highly recommend! 🌸🍣🥢

Amazing bar. Super impressed. Great service and delicious karaage!!! Loved the Ebi bao and the Nagano sour cocktail with wasabi. So interesting and different! Great atmosphere and music. 100% recommend.

Sakura House is such a hidden gem exactly what Sydney CBD has been missing! I’ve been twice now, once with a group of ten and another time with just three of us, and it was the perfect spot for both. The drinks are unlike anything we’ve had before - super creative and genuinely delicious. I’ve worked my way through most of the menu and it’s all amazing, but the baobun, karaage chicken and the matcha mochi are definite standouts! I will definitely be back!

Sakura House is an absolute standout’ The service is warm, attentive and genuinely thoughtful, making the whole experience feel special from start to finish. The Sakura sours are exceptional, and the kingfish cigar was a favourite - I really felt like I was transported back to Japan. The atmosphere is vibes and it feels so refreshing to have a place of this quality open late in Sydney. One of the very few venues where the food, drinks and service all remain top-tier well into the early hours of the next day!! I’m already excited to come back and try their happy Midnight Hour. Easily one of, if not the best bar spots in the city!

Such a vibey place. A little bit on the dim side but otherwise great atmosphere. You pay for the food but itis fantastic. I would say it would be nice if you could order food at the table if staff walk past/are placing food on the table as you can be waiting a long time at the bar. Standouts were the ebi bao, the stuffed calamari and the crab egg fish. Also really enjoyed the takoyaki skewers. The kingfish cigar and the beef potato pave were gold concepts but the flavour wasn't quite balanced just way too sour and tangy. Overall would definitely come back!
