Sakura Sushi Auroville

I recently visited Sakura Sushi in Pondicherry and it was an absolute delight from start to finish! 🌸 Olivier helped me to find the great taste...super sweet to help everytime.. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance struck me — cozy, clean, and inviting, with warm lighting and a relaxed vibe. The staff welcomed me graciously, and I felt comfortable right away. For my meal, I tried quite a few things: Maki sushi Nigiri sushi Inside-out sushi Futomaki And for dessert, I treated myself to cream cheese cake and chocolate mousse. To wash it all down, I had a refreshing ice peach tea. Each sushi variant was executed beautifully. The rice was well seasoned, the fish (and fillings) fresh, and the balance of flavors was spot on. The inside-out roll was playful and flavorful, while the futomaki impressed with generous fillings and neat presentation. The desserts were equally satisfying. The cream cheese cake had a smooth, creamy texture without being overly sweet, and the chocolate mousse was rich yet light — a perfect finish. The iced peach tea was a lovely palate cleanser — fruity, crisp, and just right. What really tied the experience together was the service and overall feel. The staff were attentive (without being pushy), service was timely, and I appreciated how everything felt thoughtfully plated and served. I couldn’t help but feel that the team takes pride in what they do. In short: Sakura Sushi is a gem. I had a super awesome time there — from the sushi to the desserts, everything was on point. If you’re in Pondicherry and craving Japanese, this place is a must-visit. I’ll absolutely be back. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

If you’re a sushi enthusiast or curious to try it for the first time, I highly recommend giving this place a go. The ambiance is nice, the food is fantastic, and the staff are friendly and helpful. If you’re unfamiliar with sushi, don’t worry—they’re happy to guide you and make recommendations. One heads-up: parking can be a bit tricky as the space is limited, so you might need to be a little patient, but it’s worth it. For those completely new to sushi, I suggest doing a bit of homework first. Check out some videos on YouTube or read about this amazing Japanese cuisine. Sushi is not spicy like Indian food, so don’t go in expecting that—it’s a completely different experience. They also serve soup and desserts to complement their sushi offerings. So, manage your expectations, embrace the uniqueness of sushi, and enjoy the delightful flavors this place has to offer!

Had tofu and avocado sushi, It was okay not a fan, did not like the soya sauce at all could have been better but the atmosphere was cozy and beautiful.

When to have sushi there surprisingly it was good i loved it we tried vegan sushi🩷🩷

The sushi here is decent, with fresh ingredients and fair presentation, but nothing extraordinary in terms of taste. While it’s enjoyable, the portion sizes are on the smaller side compared to the price. The ambience is pleasant and the service is polite, but overall it feels a bit overpriced for what you get. Worth trying once, but not something I’d go back to regularly

On a visit on pondicherry me and my friends visited here. Good place if you are looking for sushi. Enjoyed the sushi. Best place if you are looking for a sushi date or dinner 😂. If you are a fish lover, then go for it. I didn't know more about their menu. Good service and atmosphere.

I've been to many Japanese restaurants so I did have heavy expectations seeing the reviews around the place. The sushi was good but not as great as the ones you get in Chennai is how I'd put it. The service and politeness of the staff was excellent! Good ambience and we tried the boba as well

I visited the restaurant twice in the single day I spent in Auroville! I have visited many cute, swoonworthy, and boujee food places but Sakura Sushi stood out the most. It's genuinely a serene experience to dine here, and the sushi made here along with the service provided by Mr. Ravi and his associates, Mr. Shankar and Mr. Ajith. I really loved the Inside Out Rolls, alongwith the Ramen Soup with Shrimp, add to that the delicious Maki rolls that I tried! I also tried the Boba/Bubble Tea, and unlike other places it came with 2 Bubble Flavors. The restaurant has a very cute wall with doodles/sketches/artwork by people who've previously visited. It is a sight to see and if you're in the mood to doodle or read, they also have a floor couch seating space. The entire experience here is worth every minute spent, memory made, doodles sketched and money spent. The prices are extremely reasonable and for the service they provide, it truly elevates your dining experience.
