Sal & Mookie's - Madison

My first time coming into this place was amazing! It has this nice Italian fine dining ambience. It really made me feel like I was at home. When I first sit down a gentleman, greets my table very respectful & attentive. Great service off the record ! Than I ordered this lovely panini, I believe they call it the “Tony Montana”. It Was WONDERFUL, very flavorful & the dressing they put made the whole sandwich! It wasn’t dry, bland, nor cold. & of course to top it off a one of the best Cesar dressing I’ve encountered. Salad was terrific! This is definitely a good spot to take the kids, or if you & your significant other are trying to go somewhere inexpensive but still nice dining. Come here you won’t regret it!

We dined in recently after this establishment (Madison location) being recommended to us by a coworker. The restaurant was fairly busy as we entered and we were ushered to another room that was empty by a super nice hostess. We were sat and other parties began to come in. Our waitress took our orders etc. After another party was seated(this made four parties in this room now) she looked at the hostess and said don’t give me anymore parties unless there are six or more and no kids. I was shocked as all of the parties in this room had kids. If we weren’t invested and had already ordered our food, we would have left. Our food came out and we tried to go on with a good time. 🗣️The food looked phenomenal! I loved my salad and the breadsticks were good. However, The flavor was lacking in some areas. The sauce on the pies lacked flavor/seasoning but it was still decent. I did like the thin crust. (The kids are pizza connoisseurs and devoured it.) The kids complained that the spaghetti was spicy and I honestly didn’t believe them until I tried it. It was very spicy to be a kid’s menu entree of spaghetti. I thought that was odd. The artichoke on my sandwich was so hard that I couldn’t chew it. I did remove it and otherwise, it tasted pretty good and the portions were big! My husband however did enjoy his meal. We never saw our waitress again for refills, check on us etc. (I’m talking like 20 minutes) Someone from a different party actually got up and went to the counter to ask for a refill. We did see her after this and she left the check. We asked for a refill to go and she disappeared again for about 10 minutes, reappeared took our payment, came back and sat it down and said have a good day and walked off. No drinks to go. We definitely didn’t have the best experience. I’m not sure if we will return to this exact location but The place was cute and clean! Hostess staff was great! The kids did get these cool stick figure things that were moldable and kept them occupied and quiet almost the entire time.

Sal and Mookie's never fails to disappoint. We have tried virtually everything they offer on the menu, salads. soups, sandwiches, pizza, and nothing has ever faltered. Yesterday, we had an early dinner there, and the salad and sandwich was extraordinary. From the moment we walked in, the staff was cordial, friendly, helpful and quick to help with anything. During our meal, the server was more than attentive, and the mgr stopping to check on us exemplified true care for their patrons. That's hard to find nowadays. Do yourself a favor and definitely give Sal and Mookie's your next chance!

A great pizzeria! Handmade pizzas, excellent crust and all the toppings. Great service, full bar, good beer selection and ice cream treats as well. Even when crowded service is good. This is a great place for a party in the side room or to disappear at the bar. The park avenue is a great white pizza. The green goddess salad dressing is the best salad dressing ever created. Think ranch, but with flavor!

Sal and Mookies in Madison is our FAVORITE. Yes, favorite pizza but guess what- the rest of the menu is amazing too! Sandwiches and burgers are awesome. Plus you can grab a family pack of spagetti with the biggest meatballs ever. I’ve never had anything I didn’t like there. Plus kids love watching the crazy guys in the kitchen! And don’t even get me started on the ice cream or the cocktails with the light up ice cubes! Thanks for being amazing for dine in and takeout!

Disappointing and pathetic,seriously! We had a group of 23 and 7 of us arrived and they would not seat us till half of the group arrived. We had called ahead of time for preparations,we could see that the tables were ready,although they made us stand waiting at the door,like cattle.The NY pathetic pizza had no sauce on it.The shrimp pasta had no flavor. Although the shrimp was perfectly cooked. The bread they serve is like sponge. One thing great was that our server was GREAT. The kitchen was behind by nearly 2 hours . 4 ounces of sauce on a 14 inch pizza is there standard.OMG! Don't go here. No stars review.

We had a total of 13 people tonight including adults and kids. We had Emily as our server and she was so kind! We were checked on very frequently and taken care of. We had appetizers, pizza, and desserts and all our food was excellent. We could not have had a better time.

The food was good, I'm just not sure if it was $52 good. The wings were very flavorful, but most of the pieces had broken bones in them. I wasn't too pleased about being charged for extra croutons and onions on my salad, and it still looked like a regular salad. I probably wouldn't go back, but I wouldn't discourage anyone else from going either.

Excellent pizza, design and production, full range of ice cream and friendly experienced staff

It has been a while since we've eaten a Sal & Mookie's pizza and it did not disappoint! Got it as "to-go" due to traveling at the newer location in Madison. The place is more modern with seating inside and out; though the outside is limited to two or three small tables. Additionally there is a 10 seat bar where you can ordered your drinks and food. If you prefer not to get a table. The service were pleasant and professional when I did the phone order and when I picked up the food. After a 90 mile drive, Made it home and opened the steamy and freshly made pizza. 5 Stars for Pizza 3.75 Stars for Price - two large Pizzas were about $70. We ordered a large Rikers Island - italian plum tomato sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, spicy italian sausage, canadian bacon, green bell peppers, mushrooms, red onions, and kalamata olives 14" Reg, 8 Slices $26.95 18" Lg, 8 Slices $32.95 The 8 Slices were quite large, felt like I was back in NY. The sauce was the right amount with a perfect balance of herbs and spices. The dough was thin, chewy and slightly buttery and salty ( 4 stars) on the crust. The spicy Italian sausage was crumbly and not really spicy. Good flavor though. The Kalamata olives gave a good acidity to the pizza due to the sweet onions and green peppers. To "kick it up a notch" order jalapeño's on it. You won't regret it but have a beer, wine, milk or soda cuz it can get "mucho caliente" Next time we are in Fondren or Madison (two locations), we will make a stop to eat at the restaurant. Just bring your appetite, an empty stomach and loose pants.

Another accidental Yelp All Star! Rolling through the area looking for somewhere new to eat in a strange land. It's one of my favorite pastimes. Pulled up on a Sunday morning and fell right into a lovely meal. They have table service but also have a walk up counter for ice cream treats. Started with the Calamari. Not bad. I make no mistake thinking it's a fresh product but I liked it a bunch nonetheless. Wifey had the meatball sub and seemed to dig it. No real eating sounds were made... so?? Kiddo had the Chicken Parmesan and ate way more than I thought she would even be able to eat. She even took the rest in a box to go, so it must have been good. I had a beautiful little Calzone. It was called John's Bleecker, which is a strange name, so it intrigued me. The ingredients were Bechamel, Fontina, Grilled Chicken, Caramelized Onions, Sun-dried Tomatoes and Spicy Italian Sausage. What?!?!? It was so good! Our server was really sweet and super efficient. All of the staff seemed to work well together. We got milkshakes at the counter before we headed out. Slight gripe was it took 3 hours, 15 minutes to be ready. That's exaggerative, but it was a long damn time. Tasty milkshake though. Big shot, all cute with the swirlies. '24 - 19/100

Wow...disappointing. I'm not that guy that leaves bad reviews or complains. I spent many years working in restaurants and I understand the challenges. But you need to communicate with the customer when things take way longer than expected. Especially when it's slow and you're not even vaguely on a wait. I'm not going to get into specifics, but suffice to say I would not return. The good: the apple pie shake and the spinach side salad. The bad: the pizza, the communication, and the wait.

If you're hunting for a meatball sub that delivers on taste, I can't recommend this place enough! I'll definitely be returning for another hearty bite and the lovely atmosphere & excellent service! Bravo to the team for an unofficial comfort food paradise! Five stars all the way!

They have a very diverse menu, you will surely find something you want. I wish I had looked at reviews about pizza, sounded good. The service was good and the food was okay. I have been wanting a hamburger and got the Bobby Flay Burger. The flavor was good and the fries excellent. I would have like a more substantial bun to hold up to eating the HB. I would have liked more fries, there were only a handful of fries. The location is somewhere I always go (Home Depot and Kroger) so I may try something else. Ambiance is empty and sterile during day, may be better at night.

Delicious food, wonderful service, great family place with something for everyone. Not to mention the yummy ice cream. Ohhhh, the homemade soup is so very good, too. I highly recommend Sal & Mookie's New York Pizza.

My family used to eat here often but this place is not the same. Went in today for lunch and it was not good. I can find cheaper old, lukewarm, greasy pizza a ton of other places. Even my daughter's fried ravioli didn't taste right. I don't plan to go back.

Another great meal at this restaurant. Probably like a lot of y'all once you had something good you want it again. And that's what I did. Came back over here for work and stayed at the same hotel so it was very convenient. This time I want to give a shout out to a K my server. she was engaging, helpful and always provided service with a smile. I definitely will ask for her again.

For an Ice Cream Parlor place. The kids they hired don't know how to make a Banana Split. They didn't even have a proper container for a Banana Split to go! This kid was about to shove everything in a Styrofoam Soda Cup! I had to tell her NO! DQ does a better job in making one!

Pretty good! I got the CBGB Stromboli along with a salad and tiramisu as takeout. The Stromboli was small but seemed like a normal one-person serving. It was fresh and tasty. The salad was straightforward and the white balsamic dressing was quite tart. I'd definitely stop in here again when in Madison.

I took my niece for her birthday and I've been wanting to check this spot out for a while since the first location opened up. So many people would post pictures about it so I wanted to check them out. There was a 20 minute wait for a table so we took a walk until it was ready. The place was packed but not crowded so that was good. They had games on the tvs and music playing in the background. I ordered the pepperoni pizza and mozzarella sticks for us. I was not a fan of the pizza. It was just too thin and tough. Not a great taste in the flavor to me. However the mozzarella sticks were amazing. I may try the Fondren location and see if there's a difference. Our server was very attentive and helpful. He got my niece a cup of vanilla ice cream with gummy bears for her birthday and I ordered a scoop of vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup and marshmallows. She did enjoy herself.

Can't say anything negative about this establishment! From the top down have never had bad service! The owners know how to pick and treat servers and they treat patrons the same way, professional and friendly at all times! The food is amazing from pizza to burgers to chicken sandwich to the parm and spaghetti! Today we tried the Cheesecake and oh my goodness the cheesecake was better than Cheesecake Factory it wasn't rich it was perfection! The vibe and ambience is amazing as well! I suggest you visit!

Sal and Mookie's was an excellent choice for lunch the other day! The food was amazing and delicious! I was happy to see a variety of options on the menu too! There is definitely something for everyone! And our server, McKenzie, was great and offered great customer service! She continuously checked on us, offered us anything else, and apologized for the wait! Definitely will come back!

This is my second time to visit this establishment. The staff immediately greeted me upon entering the building. I notice the establishment employed a lot of young people, that were very courteous, friendly, and professional(10/10). They were constantly cleaning and attending to patrons. My waitress came immediately to the table and even recommended the daily specials. I decided to get a Caesar Salad as a starter. The lettuce was very clean and crisp, the dressing had a sharp taste to it as if we a house made blend (10/10). I ordered the special of the night which was the Cajun lobster pasta. It was amazing the pasta was cooked a perfect al dente. The lobster and cheese was paired perfectly without either one being overpowering as flavor is concerned(10/10). The focaccia bread that came with the meal was okay (6/10), but the bread was not my focus. The atmosphere was very laid back. Good place for a date night out just bring the whole family(10/10). There is something for everyone on the menu. My waitress Chase was very attentive and provided great service the entire evening (10/10). I will definitely be returning.

Yummy food and good service! I ordered a pasta and pizza for our group of 4 to split. The waitress had the pasta brought out in four different servings without me even asking. Very nice of her. The ice cream was good too

I have visited here several times. The food is always great and my children really enjoy the environment. This is a great place to go with the family!

Finally, a place that delivers off hype. This is my top spot taking pizza and draft beer spot in comparison to anything competing around here, and to say even best in State feels like a safe bet although I won't pretend to have had Guy Fieri legwork done to back claim. The Nola Central grocery pie was cooked to absolute perfection, and I felt it blew Pizza Shack's pies out of the frame. Just couldn't deliver a more balanced Pizza than this aside from an actual NY pizzeria like Lombardi's or even Chrissy's (although thats a bit if a stretch, with it being best I've ever had). Great service as well. Will be a go-to whenever I have visitors in town as now seemingly the only place to go when I need to feed my guilty pleasure for the almighty pizza. Keep it up guys, a well deserving perfecto Cinco perfecto

We had a heart shaped pizza for Valentines. As always, the service is better than the food, and that's saying a whole lot.

One of the best run restaurants in the Metro. Good kitchen, good bar and most importantly, great service. The pizza is great but don't sleep on the chicken parmigiana--my favorite dish on the menu. My wife would run through a wall for the wings. And the ice cream.....

Got a chance to visit the newly added location on the second night of being open and it was already spot on! Atmosphere: they moved into a spot that was previously held by another restaurant and updated it to their taste and liking. Kind of similar to Jackson location with pictures on wall, and ice cream bar in the open. Huge bonus for us with kids is the open area to watch the kitchen and see them make the dough and pizzas Service: our waiter(s) were great and if anything over attentive but understandable as they were all trying to learn and make sure all guests were doing good by it only being second night. Food: as usual, the food was spot on. We got fried ravioli, pizza, and salad and everything was excellent. Food came out quick. All in all it seems anything Jeff Good touches or creates is great, and that seems to be built around quality food and great service. That's a great pairing if you ask me. Highly recommend checking out the new place.

After a hard day of pushing the crew, my ex operations wanted to hit up Sal & Mookie's. We have heard great things about the place and it is def the spot where all of the high school kids hang out at. There is an ice cream spot with hella tasty options. I had the 4 Train, it p good, but not my favorite. Corn on pizza doesn't pair that well in my opinion. Our waitress, was a BEAST, especially considering it was her second time serving a table by herself. Either way, always a good time when there is beer and pizza.

Great new location! This location had Amazing Pineapple Beer! The Nola central Grocery Pizza is delicious! Friendly staff that provides fantastic service!

Went with my husband and his friend and their family. Was a nice experience, seated quickly and waitress came to take our order right away. We had someone with us who was not very friendly to the waitress and she handled with elegance and grace. My husband and I talked about it later and felt bad for her, but my husband gave a very nice tip to make up for his rude friend. We had the 4 Train pizza and the gluten free Park Ave cheese pizza. Both were good but not incredible. I wanted the spicy bbq on the 4 train to be spicier. Too much onion and not enough chicken for my taste as well. Oddly, they served my husband's rude friend long before they served our pizza. We had to watch as he stuffed his big face in front of us and his own boys. Pizzas were very big when they arrived and not a bad price. Staff wore masks which I really appreciated. Next time I would try a burger or ice cream.

We went tonight with our dog and asked to sit on the patio. It's 65 degrees and comfortable. The hosts said she would go ask because "no one wanted to work the patio". Waited around another 10 inures while they moved tables around and other things, just to return and find out they couldn't be bothered to go ask. Please work on customer service.

Pros: Excellent waitresses, great pizza and ice cream! Cons: The soup was cold and tasted gross. The spinach salad serving size was small and there were hardly any toppings on it.

Ehhh...its ok. The pizza is amazing but the other Sal and Mookies is a better vibe. Great dough, but the wait is for the birds.

Can't say enough good about Sal & Mookies in the District at Eastover. Erica is a genuinely amazing bartender, extremely attentive, personable, professional, and friendly. Any drink she makes is fantastic, but all the bartenders are awesome at what they do!!! You definitely have to start with an appetizer, I usually go for the Spinach & Artichoke dip or the Portabello Fries. For pizza, I personally recommend the "Times Square" and the "Brighton Beach" pizzas. If you'd rather have a burger/sandwich, the "Bobby Flay" burger & the "Brownstone" panini are my absolute favorites. Anything you get will be great, in my opinion!

I've really been wanting to try this place and it did not disappoint. It was amazing. We started off with mozzarella sticks, hubby had a local IPA & loved it ... he had a Stromboli and demolished it ... daughter had a pizza and I had the cannelloni it was so delicious! I was glad for the generous serving because it was even better as leftovers! Cannot wait to come back!!

The food was good as always. Our waitress did real good. But on the other hand, the manager on staff was dress very inappropriate. She has a shirt on that she tried to pull of as a dress. She was pulling on it and couldn't even bend over the table with out her stuff so close to showing that it made you uncomfortable. Then the host He didn't great me, just said follow me. When i decided to have ice cream before leaving. He was very short with me. It took my order, between him doing my order he took a phone call and took another lady's order that had walked in. Again food good but the staff working didn't make it feel like Sal & Mookies that I know.

This is my favorite pizza, especially since they have gluten-free options, I love everything I have eaten, ambiance is wonderful, and service is at the top!

We dined here last night and everything could not have been better. I got the Prospect Park sandwich and a Caesar side salad and it was delicious. AK was our server and she was very attentive and managed to get all of our orders and tickets correct. (there were 8 of us) We will definitely go back!

This is my second time coming to Sal & Mookies's and both times the experience was amazing, The food was so good, The customer service is also great as well, Now waiting on desert, I would recommend this establishment to all my family and friends. I really enjoyed everything.

Giving it a full 5 stars. A co-worker recommended it, but it's been on our list to try based on yelp reviews. We purchased a 14 inch Left Coast Mountie(pineapple and ham) and the Hamilton(toppings are layered in reverse with the sauce on top). Probably one of the best non-chain pizzas we have had since moving to MS. I know... pineapple on a pizza, but I can't eat sausage and pepperoni since my gallbladder removal. The ice cream is blue bell, but it's good ice cream and made in Texas... so mostly local. chocolate, cookies n cream, chocolate, and snickers. I think we tried a good variety of flavors. I didn't try the ravioli appetizer, but I did eat a mozzarella stick. They are not your average frozen sticks. I am told those are homemade, and I will say the cheese texture Overall definitely a place we will go back to.

I would absolutely come back here. We stopped in for a late lunch (1:30) on a Tuesday. Our group of seven was promptly sat and well attended to. I ordered the chopped salad which was massive and could have fed two people. The creamy Gorgonzola dressing was delicious and the addition of basil on the salad was a nice touch. A few others in my party split some pizzas which looked equally great.

Great Pizza and the staff is incredibly nice! Not to mention, a very open and clean environment. I was greeted by the nicest and most helpful staff. The male owner was active and available the whole time I was there. I sat at the bar by myself and enjoyed a Park Avenue Pizza + Peps and it was delicious and the service was up to par. I can't say enough good things about my first experience here. I'll be back for sure!

I just walked in at night with my local friends and tried Crow fish pizza with mozzarella cheese which hit my spot directly!! It was much better than what I've expected. The size of crow fish on pie were just about the right size and they matched with cheese which made my appetite lot faster and we finished the large pie in 6 minutes! I will go back there again for the same pie!

Service was very well. Call in order and got our food pretty quick. Nice, clean restaurant interior. I got a Philly steak that was okay and well seasoned. But the meat was too tough to even get my teeth through unfortunately. But all other food order was enjoyed.
