sala ayutthaya (Ayutthaya, Central Thailand) 1 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Ayutthaya was the capital of Siam for more than four centuries, and although Sala Ayutthaya is a feat of modern design, it’s strategically positioned to showcase the city’s rich past. The boutique hotel is located on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, directly across the water from a temple built in 1353, its elegant Khmer-style tower on grand display from the restaurant’s open-air terrace, rooftop bar, and riverfront suites. The Bangkok-based design studio Onion considered the historical context, discreetly tucking away the pool — and by extension, the swimsuit-clad guests lounging on the white marble pool deck — in a quiet courtyard framed by a labyrinth of whitewashed and exposed brick walls. Some of the hotel’s strikingly minimalist rooms feature private pools or decks, and all have freestanding soaking tubs." - Tablet Hotels

I just wanted to share a great experience I had with one of the restaurant staff during my recent visit. It started raining while we were having dinner, so we had to move inside. Our new table didn’t have much of a view, which was a bit disappointing but one of the staff members went out of her way to help us find a better spot where we could still enjoy the view. Even though it was raining and probably not easy to manage, she did her best to make sure we were happy and she really found us the best seats possible at the time. It was such a thoughtful gesture and definitely beyond what we expected.

An Amazing Boutique Hotel Experience! Truly impressed from the moment we arrived to the moment we checked out. The service was exceptional, and the entire place is impeccably maintained. The team radiates such positive energy—it really elevated our stay! Breakfast was delicious and made even more memorable by the incredible view. I especially loved how the hotel’s modern architecture blends seamlessly with the rustic charm of Ayutthaya. Highly recommend this gem!

We stayed for one night in Ayutthaya and used two connecting rooms as we are a family of five. We were very satisfied with everything—the room facilities, amenities, and the service provided by the staff. The meals were especially wonderful. Dinner featured a Thai-inspired menu, and breakfast offered a delightful combination of Thai and Western dishes. Both were incredibly delicious and enjoyable. Thank you to all the staff for your hospitality!!

Built upon brick foundations as a tribute to the architecture of the ancient Siamese capital, SALA Ayutthaya is a truly striking property nestled in the heart of the city. It offers stunning views over nearby ruins and features spacious rooms thoughtfully designed for optimal rest and relaxation. It is likely one of the best hotels in Ayutthaya — an ideal haven to recover after a long-haul flight. Breakfast is served à la carte rather than as a buffet, and the quality is excellent. Enjoying it on the hotel’s beautiful riverside terrace adds a peaceful, scenic dimension to the morning experience. One aspect that came as a genuine surprise, however, was the scent of the toiletries. Both the shower gel and shampoo had an unmistakable odor reminiscent of cigarette butts — a highly unexpected and unpleasant note for a property of this standing. As a result, showering was unfortunately not the most enjoyable experience. That said, the boat tour arranged through the hotel is enjoyable, offering a peaceful way to appreciate the surrounding beauty of Ayutthaya from the water.

This must be the nicest hotel in Ayutthaya. The spacious room was perfect with a comfortable bed and plush towels. The atmosphere during the evening hours was exotic. The included breakfast (see photo) was a gourmet meal and the view from the dining area was amazing. Finally, the hotel staff were among the best I’ve experienced. Fifa (the desk receptionist) was particularly personable, having looked up my state of origin from a previous conversation. After this experience, I would not consider staying anywhere else on my next visit. Highly recommend!

We arrived at 5.30am after a train trip from Chiang Mai only to find no where to shower and check in would be 3pm in the afternoon. We sat in the reception area until daylight (along with 100's of mozzies). After we finally got to our room it was very lovely and well appointed and large in size. Free push bikes to get around fantastic and a great way to see everything. Breakfast was very ordinary, eggs arrived cold, everything seemed like an effort to breakfast staff which was disappointing. The breakfast is definitely nothing to rave about very ordinary. Pool area was nice. I must lots of mozzies at this hotel (so take your spray). Reception staff and hotel security very nice. A little over priced but you are paying for view of river and location.

The hotel is hidden away behind a small entrance on the road. Pick up and drop offs outside the small parking area are coordinated by the hotel staff to ensure safety.||The hotel is definitely boutique and is very unique in design and architecture. We were given a lovely River view room with a balcony with a view directly onto the temples across the river. ||The room had an open plan bathroom which we normally don't like but there was a curtain for privacy which was fine. The shower was spacious and the room had a bath and large sink area. We liked the quirky design of the room and the bed was very comfortable. The only small negative was the table which although 'designer' had a very sharp metal handle sticking out which was a bit dangerous.||There is a small pool which sits between two of the ground floor rooms, a pretty riverside restaurant and rooftop bar. We loved having dinner and breakfast by the river with the stunning views of the temples which are lit up at night. The food for dinner was really nice but the breakfast was even better. It was all home made and beautifully presented.||The rooftop bar was empty when we went for a drink but the bartender arrived shortly after we entered. The views are great and the cocktails were innovative and expertly made.||We were able to walk to all of the temples starting at 11am with the reclining Buddha at Wat Lokkaysutha then Wat Phra Si Sanpet, Chedi Singha Lom, a coffee at Citrus Coffee, Wat Ratchaburana and Wat Matha That before paying a Tuk Tuk THB 150 to take us to Wat Chaiwatthamaram and another THB 150 back to the hotel. ||We only stayed one night but loved this hotel. Kudos to the staff and management for the high standard of accommodation, food and service on offer. We highly recommend this hotel.

We spent new years at this hotel and it was hands down amazing. We had been before to a neighboring hotel and wanted a 5 star experience and this did not disappoint. The view of the temple across the river is the best. Far better than the hotels on either side. The staff and food are absolutely spectacular. This hotel is worth the extra spend. The restaurant is amazing… we also found Sayama next door and Sampaonova very good. Extra thanks to the reception staff who helped us get a car to the the airport after ours failed to turn up (booked through booking.com months in advance - because this is a more remote location I would book transport through the hotel next time) and we were luckily able to make our plane. Excellent, special boutique hotel. We will be back.
