13 Best Hotels in Phuket, Thailand

"Homegrown hotels generally play second fiddle to the big-brand-name digs on Phuket, but Sala Phuket is a notable exception. Don’t let its location near the airport turn you off—noise from planes is minimal, and the wonderfully deserted Mai Khao beach on its doorstep is one of the island's prettiest. There are a handful of balcony suites, but the pool villas are the ones to book. Each is a white-washed sanctuary accentuated by shades of taupe, grey, and Portuguese-tiled, open-air bathrooms that reference the island’s trade history. The SALA Spa has a great reputation, as does the restaurant—order the fragrant beef-cheek curry with mushrooms and betel leaves." - Chris Schalkx

I particularly enjoyed the hospitality of the staff, especially Tong, who deserves special mention. The overall design of the resort, the small details, and the genuine care to ensure that every guest feels truly comfortable are noticeable everywhere. Everything is just perfect, right down to the music selection at the beach bar. Every request or small wish was fulfilled and implemented without any problem. Tong took wonderful care of us, but the other staff members were also always extremely friendly and attentive. It’s hard to describe the feeling, but overall it is a sense of genuine hospitality in a beautiful design environment. We look forward to returning and booking another stay next year. Many heartfelt thanks!

It’s our last day at SALA Phuket and a good time to reflect on what has been an outstanding stay. ||First of all the staff are super-friendly, they can’t do enough for you. From the friendly faces at reception, your first interaction, to the restaurant staff, to the pool staff. Everyone is just so eager to please.||The food itself is top-notch. The buffet breakfast is extensive and you get to pick 2 a la carte options from the menu. I think our party pretty much tried everything. The lunch menu is equally extensive with options to suit all appetites and paletes. Pizza, pasta, sandwiches and Thai options are all there. The evening menu is even more comprehensive and the Chef, Tony, has done a cracking job assembling such an enticing selection.||There is only one restaurant but to be honest, that’s all this place needs.||We chose an adjoining pool villa for our family of 4. Pure luxury; outdoor bathroom and a lovely air conditioned bedroom (with outdoor bath) all set around a small but nicely sized pool, 2 of them in fact. All the facilities were there, tea/coffee machine, mini-bar (pretty good value compared to some hotels) and plenty of storage space. Cleaned daily with a turn-down service that came with a gift of a healthy juice to detox with.||We chose to go on a couple of excursions organised by the hotel most notably the James Bond island tour, which was an exceptional experience. Sure, we could’ve got it a cheaper price using a local operator but we wouldn’t have had the attentive service of Goff, who made the trip really easy for us to enjoy. The hotel even showed the film “the man with the golden gun” later in the week so we could see the film set we’d just visited on the big screen.||The weather was a bit changeable but it is rainy season, so what should we have expected?||All in all, a wonderful stay made perfect by the people, just be careful you don’t chill out too much!

Absolutely perfect holiday with you. The hotel is really chilled and beautifully presented. The rooms are clean and modern and the public areas are great. The restaurant has a very extensive menu and everything we ate was on point. Staff are super friendly and really made the holiday extra special. The pool(s) are very luxurious and the general atmosphere is just so relaxed. Thanks so much for looking after our family - we loved it

I’m currently staying at this hotel for two nights. On the positive side, the gym is nice, the staff are helpful and friendly, and the shuttle to the mall is convenient. Unfortunately, the negatives far outweigh these positives. The room is outdated and unattractive, and the air-conditioning is inadequate, making it feel like I’m staying outdoors. Moreover, there’s a strong, unpleasant smell of feces in the room, which completely ruins the experience of taking a hot bath with premium, fragrant bath salts. The hot water in the bathtub is also barely warm, far from the relaxing hot bath I expected. The toilet and shower are located outside the room, and the equipment feels like it’s from 20 years ago. There’s no air-conditioning in the bathroom area, making it feel like I’m showering at a public beach. The hotel’s location is inconvenient, far from any activities or attractions. For the same price, there are far better accommodation options in Phuket. To top it off, the hotel charged me extra for my son’s bed upon check-in, despite having already paid for it through Expedia. After some back-and-forth, it turned out to be the hotel’s error. Overall, I’m very disappointed and would not recommend this hotel.

A superb evening with a very romantic setting by the sea. The opening cocktails and appetizers were great. The carrot soup worth finding the recipe. The seafood platter delicious with perfectly cooked rock lobster. The steak was very tender. The pavlova dessert perfect - so hard to execute in this climate. The wine list is extensive with affordable options. The service could not have been better!

The room was lovely and the reception service was excellent. I was impressed by the attentive staff, making it a perfect place to relax. However, the bathroom felt too open — a partition would provide more privacy for personal use.

We love the resort so much. It is quiet and cozy. The staff are friendly and we did enjoy the outdoor movie night so much. What I love about the breakfast is that guests can choose 2 choices of main courses. The swimming pool is well maintained. Just one thing to pay attention to is the mosquito else everything perfect.

We stayed at the One Bedroom Pool Villa Suite as part of our honeymoon and it was absolutely incredible. The villa was spacious, very luxurious, and beautifully designed with a modern and aesthetic touch. Beach access is just steps away, right in front of the restaurant, which makes the whole experience even more relaxing. One thing to note is that the bathroom and shower are completely outdoors, which might be uncomfortable for some, but adds to the tropical vibe. Also, if you're not a fan of insects or animals, you might come across lizards or frogs around the property, but that’s part of the charm of staying close to nature. The staff were extremely helpful, kind, and generous throughout our stay. We also had the chance to try the spa, and the masseuses were professional and very welcoming. All in all, an amazing experience that I would definitely recommend.
